So this show was brought to my attention thanks to a Japanese Yuri Twitter news account that mentioned it a few times during the season. I collected the episodes but did not give it much thought until near the end of the 3rd quarter when it finally made sense why this show was on their radar. Allow me to share what ended up becoming my sleeper hit/hidden gem of Winter 2024.
Our heroine Princess and Commander of the Third Legion, or Princess for short, was a great warrior trained by the very best to become humanity’s best hope against the demon army in their ongoing war. However, one day she was somehow captured by them and forced to endure grueling daily tortures with goal of making her reveal crucial information about the human kingdom and military for their counterattack.
These tortures are some of the most heinous, excruciating and unimaginable forms of suffering one of noble birth trained to become the pinnacle of elite combat and fortitude at an early age would have great difficulty enduring.
I could relate to our heroine and understood why she almost always succumbed to whatever the perfect demonic beauty and lead tormentor, Torture Tortura (though personally it was the Beast Master Krall who stole my heart), could muster.
Anyway this show is part Reserve Heck, part softcore food porn and part lethal kyun.
The main reason for this post is introduced near the end of the third quarter of the season, Vanilla Peschutz. Suffice to say all her segments are my favorites, which is saying a lot because I loved almost all segments. Even my least favorite ones involving a certain “savior” are not bad at all though even this character has one that brought me great joy.
So very happy this show is getting a second season. Heaven knows very few anime that cater to ME personally do.

Surprisingly enjoyable!
Really did not think it would stay enjoyable after the first episode, and could not see how they could keep things from getting old/stale, but they did it. And I really applaud them for that
It took way too long to get Vanilla Peshcutz, but once she was there, she really made her presence and adorableness known~
The guy who kept on trying to save Hime got on my nerves, but his final segment was good.
Besides him, the whole cast were great! One of the great joys of the show was always seeing Datarma ❤ He was such a joy to experience~
Would love another season!

It’s part softcore food porn and Princess’ upbringing more than explained how they could keep the gag going. Plus most of the cast are great.
Hopefully the paladin never gets to be the hero.
Vanilla’s debut took a while but she hasn’t looked back since.
A second season was thankfully confirmed.

My word, I have never seen a princess so horrifically tortured the way this one was. It was so bad, terrible and heart-rending, it was too much for my feeble heart to bear! Jokes aside, my interest was piqued just from reading the synopsis and it exceeded my expectations. I’m all over the next season when that airs.
I don’t think the paladin’s gonna save Princess at all. He’s just comic relief in my eyes. If anything, he and the Maou will become the best of friends. Speaking of, the Hellhorde having the likes of Torture, Inki/Menki, Krall and Mao Mao in its ranks makes for a good enough reason to join up, especially when its being led by this Maou 😉 .
There was one other show that aired this season that might interest you called “Pon no Michi”. Basically, it’s cute girls just hanging out with some mahjong terminology thrown in.

The paladin is the least favorite but I do hope he and the Hell Lord become bosom otaku pals.

This did not disappoint, and I’m so glad we’re getting a S2! The cast was fantastic, especially Vanilla. Though Mao Mao really stole my heart with her adorableness. Looking forward to the adventures the princess and the gang will have next season.

Vanilla made us wait but it was so worth it.
Mao Mao is a precious cinnamon roll.
Very excited to see everyone again in the near future. Hopefully sooner than later.
