Stardust Telepath Episode 4: Rocket Rush

A challenge issued, a secret key and more awesome cuteness.

Last time Umika was motivated by Yu after an incredible bedtime scene to approach Matataki one more time. She did her best but the tsundere was a tough nut to crack so our heroine pulled a surprise attack by challenging the grouch to a bottle rocket launcher contest. Matataki was too stunned to decline on time. After being comforted by her space honey and fellow space cadet Haruno the latter had a surprise for the main duo.

It’s a secret base under the lighthouse. Haruno revealed the lighthouse belonged to her late grandpa and the two had lots of fun in the secret base. She inherited it from him but now she gifted it to the homeless Yu who instantly wanted to turn it into their Space Explorers Clubhouse.

Bless you Haruno.

After declaring the secret base their clubhouse the girls decided to go shopping for tools to prepare for the grand battle. Also I didn’t mention her last time but Umika’s imouto is also precious. Unsurprisingly she acts more mature than her older sister. She’s the classic calm and loving sibling of the protagonist. Umika’s excitement for her (I assume) first time hanging out with friends melted my heart.

I had a really rough day at work on Monday. Thankfully Claire and Umika were there to cheer me right back up like I knew they would. It’s why these two shows are in my Top 3 of Fall 2023 alongside Vampire Princess.

While looking for strong enough bottles they got help from a lovely megane girl shown in the OP. I look forward to learning more about her soon. This being a Girls Club show of course we had them do cute stuff on the shopping trip.

Umika recognized the mecha on the movie poster from the series Matataki apparently enjoyed. It also gave Umika a clever idea.

Finally it’s time for the grand battle. Despite wanting to say no a few days ago Matataki was as pumped for the battle as our heroines, partially to win and be done with them once and for all.

Psychological warfare! Devilishly clever strategy from our timid angel to design the rocket to look like Matataki’s favorite giant robot.

It was a two-round duel. The team who launched their rocket furthest after two tries would win. Matataki won the first round but our heroines hoped the power of love and friendship would prevail. It’s strong enough to force the tsundere to pull out her trump card and win the duel. Both sides accused the other of cheating but Umika accepted her loss.

Though victorious she still wanted to hear what Umika had to say. In her mind our heroines only wanted her for her tinkering. She accused them of seeing her as only a tool to further their goals. She wanted to her Umika say it then call her out for her hypocrisy.

To her shock all Umika wanted to tell her since middle school was how cool her goggles were and hoped to one day wear them. Remember last time she thought Matataki was cool? That’s all she wanted to tell her ever since but being ultra shy she couldn’t. She hoped Matataki would come to school again so they could hang.

And so the tsundere cutie joined the club.
