I’m in Love with the Villainess Episode 5: Exam Slam

Seitokai exam time!

Claire accepts Ralaire

We resumed right where we left off post-ED with Claire discovering Ralaire’s existence. She reacted as one would expect to her future daughter’s name along with wanting to dispose of it because “monster” but thanks to Rae’s quick wits and knowledge of Claire’s vanity it ended well.

Claire proud of her dominance as alwaysAs expected the six key players of the show passed the written part of the exam.  The neat part was why Claire wanted Misha to apply too.

Claire tries to outsmart RaeClaire’s competitive spirit came out again as once more did she challenge “fair” Rae. When Rae said the rules would be the same as last time Claire was prepared but even so Rae again tricked her.

The next part of the exam had our top six split into three 1v1 magic duels. Since the first duel was Mayo Prince vs Frosty Balls Prince there’s no need for an in-depth coverage. It’s a fun match with Koude Bratwurst getting the win though Principe Mayonesa went easy on him. Typical sibling spat. Not sure if it’ll play a role in Picha Frio’s inferiority complex.

Misha vs fire puppet summonsDuel 2 was between Misha and Dookie Prince. Being a sophisticated hothead Dookie wanted to go all out. Misha knew this which was why she wasn’t all too thrilled to clash with the rapscallion. Even so she had good defenses against the fiery prince’s hot toy puppet summons. Unfortunately despite her strong defense she’s overwhelmed by the lad’s large MP reserves via fire puppet barrage causing her to lose oxygen and tapping out. At least she got Mayo worried for her.

Thane taking care of RalaireFew can resist the baby blob. Then again Pichita is the most sensitive of the bros.

Claire's flashy fire magicRae's Earth Magic counterIn the main event Claire’s all gung-ho and flashy to the delight of many while Rae mostly used her Earth magic to create shields or try to seal Claire. To show her temper was more fiery than Doodoo Head her attacks became grander and flashier. She even took a page from his playbook.

Claire's ultimate attackWhen suffocating Rae didn’t work she’s forced to use her trump card sooner than planned. Perhaps Claire showing mercy was what led to her comedic loss or perhaps she’d lost long before the duel started. See, Rae only used Earth magic in the duel. What’s the 2nd element she could use? Exactly.

In the end they all passed because the test was more about showing their elemental mastery and ingenuity than a competition.

Claire surprised again by Rae's requestSince Rae beat her for realzies this time she’s again prepared for the worst but was again surprised by Rae having the same request. “Never give up Miss Claire”. If this wasn’t a hint at something terrible happening to Claire the first time Rae said it then now it’s a given us non-readers must prepare for the worst in due time. Poor dear was so focused on ensuring Claire changed her destiny she forgot their baby girl.

I guess since it’s a trend for me to use the #ClaireIsLove hashtag every episode I suppose this time it’s because she looked beautiful using fire magic and we’re again blessed by the Ojou-Sama Flip.

Straightforward but fun episode. Next time some exploration and the return of the maid.

lol it’s great how Rae yet again dragged Claire into a bet she cannot win XD While Claire can’t know that Rae knew there was no way for her to fail becoming a knight, Rae very well knew that passing the written exam was the only important part and her knighthood was already guaranteed at that point XD

Thane’s interactions with Ralaire were amusing XD

It’s nice seeing these scenes animated. Will be even better once we get to the things that are to come, which any anime only can tell by this point won’t be quite as lighthearted as things have gone thusly.

Rae is really underhanded though XD that pit

Yep, I knew that Claire will do a rematch against Rae. It’s interesting that Rae basically outsmarted Claire given her already prior knowledge, but seeing Claire’s showing off her best moves, just to do nothing on Rae. I find it funny how Rae basically won by making a whole underneath Claire.

Also, Ralaire is cute, not too surprising for Claire to defrost after seeing how cute Rae’s familiar is, yet another sign she is defrosting, so at least there is progress here.

Also, read my posts when you have the chance.

Really cool fights these episode! We got to see the princes and the girls fight and their special abilities.

Funniest part was when Rae forgot Ralaire and Thane is left staring at the tiny guy lol

    Great battles this in ep!

Claire is 0-2 with her bets against Rae, maybe she should think twice about doing another one.

Rae not even using her second ability in the duel was such a flex honestly. Like man she’s good.

Having that same request can’t be a coincidence. Wonder what’s going to happen in the coming eps…
