The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio Episode 5: Radio Reset

After a great set of episodes it’s time to find out what’s next for our heroines after the end of a hectic week.

Yumiko’s manager warned her they’re heading to meet the president of Blue Crown and apologize for her actions. Our heroine did apologize but did not regret her actions. Were she able to turn back time she would do it again in a heartbeat. The president was about to let her have it but Yumiko noticed his stumble. The jig was up. The manager and president already had a talk about the scandal and aftermath. Sexy manager wanted him to teach her a lesson about the consequences of her actions. He mostly understood the assignment but even so was grateful to her because her actions helped Chika out of her depression better than anything they could have done.

Before the ladies got on the elevator they got a surprise visit from Shuri Naruse, Chika’s clumsy but well experienced manager who led many aspiring seiyuu to greatness. She too was grateful to Yumiko for helping Chika.

In the elevator Yumiko asked sexy manager how she really felt about the situation. She started scary but quickly got to the point: “As your manager I wish you’d worry about yourself more…but as your big sister figure I’m proud of you kiddo”. Chika’s response “You’re like an abusive lover, being really mean at first then do a complete 180 soon after”.

Once off the elevator they got another surprise in Mekuru Yubisaki. The cutie we saw at the end of the last episode. Unfortunately for Yumiko she did the exact opposite of sexy manager.

Mekuru: Thanks a lot for helping our little top star…by exposing how pathetic she really is. Think about it. She got caught in a sex scandal. Regardless of the truth being revealed, her career was pretty much screwed. Then when I thought they’d let the dirty tramp back and ruin our studio’s reputation, you made things easier by exposing what she’s really good. Now she’s REALLY screwed.

Yumiko: What happened to her was an accident.

Mekuru: That kind of thinking is exactly why you’re a third-rate seiyuu. Keep your crappy partnership out of my face.

Yumiko: What’s your problem?

Mekuru: MY PROBLEM is your little stunt made things much harder for the rest of us. Now I have to work twice as hard to get a skeptical crowd to cheer for me, dumbass!

As Yumiko rightfully stewed over Mekuru’s shitty attitude Sexy Manager was kinda amused because despite her crappy delivery she wasn’t wrong. Mekuru’s pretty much a justified heel. She’s probably a garbage person behind the scenes but she had the talent and experience to show she wasn’t all talk. You may not like how she said it, I certainly didn’t, but the point of her rant wasn’t wrong. She recommended Yumiko check out Mekuru’s shows and take notes on her presentation and especially chemistry with guests and partners to help improve the Radio Rivals show.

We would quickly learn “exposing the business” had its drawbacks for our heroines as even Chika struggled to get new gigs after the big stream. At least the radio show became more popular. In other news the reputation of the jerk who harassed Chika was forever ruined but our heroines’ social lives outside of school was getting tougher to enjoy. Fortunately Yumiko had a plan.

Yowza.

Now it was Chika’s turn to be transformed.

Yumiko about to live the dream. We all know there’s more to this than just makeup, yes.

After being blessed in the bathtub chika never looked back. Truly a cultured lass.

Honestly them becoming a sexy gyaru couple would be wonderful.

Yes please, especially after Sexy Manager didn’t react embarrassed.

To sum up their meeting with the managers the women thought the first step to restoring their reputations was starting fresh by creating characters based on their true selves, a cheerful sexy gyaru and a gloomy beauty. It usually works for pro wrestlers. After all, often the most celebrated character is “Yourself times 100”. Naturally you’d have to figure out your best qualities or what people like about you and then ramp that up to the umpteenth degree. That’s step 1. Step 2 would be taking part in live events. Our heroines thought it would be tough since their popularity took a hit after the big stream but the managers made a phone call.

Gotta get that Otome rub to reignite their careers. Plus they’re already in an idol unit and Otome’s eager to give them said rub.

So the girls were ready to make their comeback. There’s just one problem. what was the first event? Mekuru’s show…Hoo boy.
