Yohane The Parhelion Episode 4: Air and Sea

Makes sense to take a little breather after the absolute perfection that was Episode 3. You and Kanan time!

We got a very brief “blink and you miss it” peek of You in Episode 2 but we’re formally introduced to her now. She worked for the post office thus I dub her DeliYou. Although she showed You where Yohane lived this was most likely part of Hanamaru’s plan to help Yohane open up to more people by introducing her to some cool babes. Also You had a letter for Yohane from her mom asking how her “homework” was coming along. Said homework was an assignment to find a special talent all her own before the end of Summer. Hanamaru had to go to work but You stared at Yohane raring to have her help deliver the mail.

Though still shy around people Yohane delivered lots of letters. You said they had to go back to the post office because flight was needed to finish the last delivery. She got our heroine to enter the cool aqua cannon thing and take to the sky. Naturally taking to the skies was way too cool to be all tsundere over. As You joined her in the air she explained that thanks to her job Numazu opened up to her. She saw how many people and beautiful things there were about the town and she never wanted to leave.

Our heroines’ destination was Kanan’s workshop. There Yohane’s introduced to her big robot frog Tonosama. He’s meant to show viewers the blue beauty was an inventor.

No zipper this time sadly. Still sexy.

I wonder if the reason Yohane gets a little touchy whenever she’s called an errand girl and not a fortune teller is because she wants to feel special and doesn’t think there isn’t anything special about being an “errand girl”. At least that’s what I gathered.

We learned Kanan’s specialty was taking broken stuff and turning them into brand new cooler things. It’s why she’s given the nickname Recycle Queen Kanan. She asked the girls to help fix a swing for the kids. Yohane was pretty clumsy and felt bad. Fortunately Kanan shared a motivational trick, imagining the smiles in the faces of happy clients, in this case the children.

There’s something else about the swings. Yohane recognized them. They’re the same swings she sat alone with only Lailaps to cheer her up. Lailaps encouraged Yohane to “recycle those memories”, turn them into motivation for a brighter future. Something like that.

You know? You, Hanamaru and Kanan’s performance helped me realize something. It’s not just the OP I really like. The insert songs featured so far are fantastic. I know. It’s Love Live! Most of their songs are bangers. Very true. It’s just that the ones we got so far have all made me feel warm and fuzzy in my tum tum. Also this performance was very lewd.

Speaking of feeling warm and fuzzy, the ongoing focus of YohaMaru. Warms my heart to see it still going strong. Please keep it up show. We ended the episode with Yohane reflecting on all that’s happened so far since her return. It felt like she finally embraced the town and its people.

With more friends and self-discoveries meant more marks on Yohane’s staff.

We ended the episode kinda ominously with Yohane hoping she could find her special talent and a way to help everyone. Lailaps told her so long as she didn’t forget that optimism she’d be fine. However, Yohane alluded to finding her talent not being enough to achieve true happiness. That and Lailaps knew more than she let on, both about the staff and maybe Yohane herself. We’ll wait and see as I have no idea where the show is going so I won’t speculate just yet.
