Love Live! Nijigasaki 2.11: Familiar Dilemma

What started as a big announcement became thoughts about the past, future and present time as indicated in the actual title.

NijiGaku discuss becoming an official club

As our heroines reflected on their previous weekend together Kasumin rushed in with a big announcement. She overheard discussions about making the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club an official school club complete with better equipment and the opportunity to compete in Love Live! Skipping ahead a bit they eventually agreed to not become official. They all have individual goals but still want to accomplish a lot together. Although some would have liked to compete in the tournament the joy of being part of the club and doing school idol stuff together was more important.

Before we get to the main plot some cool extra developments.

Lanzhu embraces NijiGakuLanzhu went around asking her new homies tips on how to improve her bond with everyone and fans on and off the stage. Nice to see the growing desire to improve her social skills. This moment here was also when Yu was officially recognized by her harem as #13 though technically she’s either #10 or #1.

Shioriko wants to become the new seitokaichouShioriko saw an ad about the upcoming seitokai elections. Later she asked Nana if she planned on running for reelection. She didn’t, wanting to focus more on being a school idol. Shioriko took the time to announce she’d run for seitokaichou because her desire to support others was still strong and what better way to do so than become president. Of course she’s still a proud member of Yu’s harem.

Haruka off to train for Love LiveNot entirely sure what Haruka’s off to train for in the Tokyo Preliminaries but my best guess is to prepare for Love Live.

Emma and Kanata supporting KarinNow we can talk about the main plot. Karin and Kasumin had two important things on their mind. The first were exams. Fortunately they had plenty of help from the gang, especially Mia, to prepare for that. Their grades were good enough to survive…yes. The second thing on their minds was different. Kasumin’s was the aforementioned state of the club going forward. Karin would be lost in thought for a while quietly listening to her homies being cool together along with students loving Nijigasaki. One day Emma invited Karin to hang out with Kanata but she claimed to be busy. Emma and Kanata spotted Karin and decided to follow. Eventually they caught up to her and got the scoop. Basically it’s the 3rd Year tradition of worrying about their time as school idols coming to an end after graduation. Like 3rd year trios before them she loved her time with the gang but was sad it would soon end. Emma and Kanata could relate. Both said it’s best to not worry about the future and focus on creating more awesome memories with NijiGaku while they still could. This gave Karin a great idea.

Happy KarinHer big idea was to host a NijiGaku concert. All their Solo, Unit and Group performances in one super show. The gang were of course pumped.

Great stuff as always. We ended the episode with Yu and Ayumu noticing and receiving big things respectively. I’m 95% sure the next episode will have the two discuss the high likelihood of going to separate colleges and having to be apart for a while before living together post-graduation. I could be wrong but that’s what I gathered from the Post-ED scene and preview.

It’s not too surprising given that the club got disbanded over a splat over Setsuna and Kasumi. I guess doing competitions while some don’t is probably they won’t do it given what happened before.

Not too surprising to see Karin feel a bit pensive about her future, but its good that Kanata and Emma reassures her not to worry too much. This makes me wonder what they will doing a live performance as a whole group.

At least it’s good that Kasumi passed, although she barely did so.

    Another Great Episode!

I think Shioriko would make a great president!

Good for Kasumin! She worked real hard to get that passing grade. Very proud of her.👍

Any time I see Ai and Rina spending quality time together, even it’s just morning runs to improve Rina’s stamina, makes me happy.

    Excited for more!

I noticed that Shizuku directly proposed to her girl to study together, not that they will help her. So she wants to “study” alone with Kasumin.

so Nijigasaki isn’t going to compete in Love Live, even though it’s in the series title? interesting…

There is usually an ep like this near the end of the season for Love Live with the girls thinking about the future and such. As always it’s well done and not overly emotional either.

I’m also loving the development that Lanzhu is getting in these past few eps with regards to her social skills and getting used to having friends. She’s so much happier and bubbly compared to us previous standoff-ish personality she had. Great to see this change in her.

Shioriko running for the new student council president was a nice surprise, although I’m pretty sure we could all see that coming. She’ll make a great president!

Nice to see the third years getting some heartfelt scenes together. They’ll all be leaving in the not too distant future so this is nearing the end for their school idol journey.

Interesting change for them not to focus on making it to Love Live. But really that just doesn’t fit with this particular anime in the season, they’re at a good point not and going all in for Love Live is quite a big undertaking. Good call to stay as the school idol club, it gives them the freedom they need to express themselves in the best way they can.

Sad that we’re nearing the end for this anime, but I’m sure we’ll get a movie at some point in the future too as that’s the usual Love Live tradition.

It’s tradition despite Nijigasaki following a different path from the other 3 groups.

Lanzhu follows the tradition of grumpy/antagonistic girls being sweethearts after calming down. Bless her and her development.

Shioriko would have my vote if I were born a girl and attending NijiGaku.

Always a sad but necessary conclusion in 3rd years’ school idol journeys.

Exactly. This season made it clear Nijigasaki are different. This group was inspired by school idols to follow their dreams more so than others who were a mix of dreamers and aspirations to win LL.

Fingers crossed Nijigasaki and Superstar both get movies.
