Whisper Me a Love Song Episode 4: Of Clubs and Practicing

With our heroines’ current status set it’s time to see what each girl would do next going forward.

Conflicted Himari

When we last left Yori she surprised the main band of the show with a surprise request to join them. We continued with her explaining her reason, to impress the girl she liked. Since Aki’s the leader the other two left the decision to her. Since learning about Yori’s relationship with Himari Aki’s felt conflicted but pushed her own feelings aside to help support Yori, meaning she “eagerly” accepted her into the band.

After telling Himari she felt conflicted herself because it meant less time with Yori. The big cat offered to at least have lunch with the little doggie when both had free time. Next Himari thought maybe it’d be a good idea to join a club to keep herself distracted. She asked Yori why she suddenly joined the band when earlier she preferred playing solo.

Himari more conflicted than before

When Yori told her the truth and felt a bit embarrassed Himari’s about to say “I really love your honesty” but changed it to “really look forward to the show” because she didn’t want to give her false hope as Himari still didn’t feel the same kind of love for Yori.

Yori jamming with her bandmates

During practice Yori realized maybe playing in a band wasn’t so bad after all. She even gave Aki some false hope:

Biggie: Maybe it’s just me but you looked to be having a lot of fun playing with Yori-Yori there Aki.

Aki: Isn’t it obvious? I love being with Yori.

Yori: I think I feel the same way.

Aki: HUH!?

Yori: I kinda love playing with you girls too.

Aki: O-ohhhh! Right! Riiiiight! Ha ha ha ha…

With Yori being fully on board the band announced plans to compete in an upcoming K-ON competition.

No Yori-Senpai DayBack to Himari. She had no luck finding a club to join so she suffered from “No Yori-Senpai Days”. She’s looking for a club that didn’t require daily attendance to not get in the way of the days she did get to be with Yori. Miki suggested she try checking out cultural clubs.

Yuri is My Job posterI’m still waiting for a 2nd season.

She checked the computer, anime and art clubs but didn’t feel like she’d fit in either of them.

Himari and MomokaWhen she’s about to lose hope the Yuri goddesses guided her to the cooking club led by one Momoka Satomiya who eagerly welcomed a potential new member. Himari wasn’t sure at first but when Momoka said she’s okay with her “two days a week” request she’s more interested. What piqued her curiosity was when Momoka said “You could cook as much as you want and share with friends or loved ones”. The latter got her.

Yori surrounded by waves of jealousyWhen Himari said she had a big announcement Yori got briefly got her hopes up for the magic words but alas, not yet. Yori’s cool with Himari joining a club…until she mentioned that only one of the three members was active in weekly activities, meaning Himari would be alone with another girl. Yori was so consumed by fear and jealousy she didn’t hear Himari say “I’m practicing to cook sweets for you”.

Aki seeing herself in Yori's worriesThe next day Yori’s head wasn’t into practice. Biggie asked Aki to help and the sexy lovesick gyaru thought (You didn’t have to ask. I was going to do just that). As Yori shared her worries and jealousy it felt like Aki was looking in a mirror seeing the love of her life echoing all her own current stresses. Poor dear again pushed her sadness aside to help Yori.

Other guitar girlAfter Himari and Momoka’s day was done the club leader got a visit from another guitar girl, aka one of the two invisible cooking club members. I only paid attention to the OP and ED once so as to not spoil myself on future surprises, meaning I forgot if these two are an item. What I do know is I think they’re both part of a rival band. I think Miki may be a member too.

Aki confronts Himari about YoriSpeaking of Miki Himari brought the cake she helped bake over to her because she wasn’t ready to cook for Yori yet. After Miki left the room to take a call Aki appeared and unexpectedly saw her #1 love rival. The time had come to make her move.

Aki: Hey, Himari. Have you fallen in love with Yori yet?

Himari; Y-you know? Ummm, no.

Aki: Hmm. Okay. Listen up. I’m in love with Yori.

Himari: Huh?

Aki: Not as a friend, but romantically. So, if you’re not going to make a move then step aside so I can have her, okay?

Maybe this is part of some test to see how serious Himari was about Yori but I seriously hope it’s Aki going on the offensive because I saw the waves of jealousy. No more holding back girl. At least TRY before inevitably losing.

Great stuff as always.

  1. I like the cooking club duo. I kind of hope they will turn out to be a couple in the end. I hadn’t expected Aki to make her move so soon, but I respect her proactiveness. I wondered if it’s the case she’s trying to test Himari or if she’s legit going on the offense for Yori’s love. Possibly could be both tbh. Either way, it’s sure to shake things up a bit. Good stuff as always.

Momoka gave me this fluffy feeling, her hair style and personality remind me of clouds for some reason. Hope we get to see more of her and her band-mates (?).

As for Aki, oops, shot fired. Himari is still quite un-experienced so not sure how she’s gonna react. Consider how she didn’t want to hurt Yori though, maybe it would be the same here.

Looking forward to seeing how things play out next!

Yori imagining Himari in those club outfits was so cute.

HImari also finally finds a home in the cooking club, which as we find out in this episode is also the home of some music people. It really is a small world, isn’t it? Himari gets in the club that so happens to have some music people too haha

Of course it’s gotta end in that bombshell of a cliffhanger!

It does put more of a clock on Hima now that Aki has laid down her ultimatum.
