Yuri Quickie: The Owl House Season 2

Like my quickie on Season 1 this is more a brief summary of my thoughts on Season 2 with a complete G-View on its way once the show is over after Season 3. Until then consider this a preview of how things are going.

Minor SPOILER WARNING.

The Owl House

From what I gathered the original plan was for a 3 season series and while that is still on the 3rd season was cute short from 20+ episodes to 3 40+ minute specials. That is not something I will delve deep into because I do not know what goes on behind the walls of Disney. Point being that may have played a role in the main plot developing slightly faster in Season 2. Not rushed at all, mind you. It felt like there was less time for, shall we say, world building and background character development. The main and important side-characters for sure got the spotlight but background characters are lucky to get a mention or made relevant via a mention or writers’ notes on what they would have liked to include on the show had they more time.

Amity vs HunterAmity vs Hunter. One of the best animated fights on the show.

Because of this even there were less self contained episodes where not much was missed were they to be skipped. Granted every episode is worth watching to a degree but what I am getting at is every episode in S2 had major plot or character development with the stakes getting higher quicker than last season. Expect many twists and turns ala a certain beloved trilogy of space themed movies. This sentence should give readers a clue of the kind of ride awaiting them as they get close to the season finale. Everything is ramped up from the humor, drama, twists and of course action. It does not get super dark but there are plenty of dramatic and serious moments.

Luz and Amity take a big step forwardViewers have no idea how lewd this scene was. The hand holding was but a fraction. Also there is a simple but cool reason Amity dyes her hair.

I said in the above paragraph things ramped up in S2 and that includes our heroines’ relationship. I will not spoil how much Luz and Amity (LuMity) progressed but readers who know…know. Still surprised Disney of all companies aired a show with these kinds of protagonists. Let me put it this way. The progression is natural, inspirational and educational for Western viewers, huge world threatening stakes aside. Basically their relationship remains the highlight of the show.

Eda and RaineEda and Raine’s relationship falls more in line with what viewers expect from an action fantasy show. It is the more dramatic of the two yet still heartwarming. We are even shown how Eda first met and fell for them. Nothing major but I found their voice change from teen to adult years interesting. Hope their love goes well.

Like I said this was more a brief update on how the show is going. Expect a more detailed G-View when it is over. Still really good and excited to see how it eventually ends after that huge cliffhanger finale.

Man I love The Owl House!

LuMity is SO Good! They are so Cute! Every scene they are together is fantastic!

I think the biggest surprise for me this season was when Emperor Belos’ face was revealed. I wasn’t expecting his face to look so …..gentle. (The only way I could describe it.) Still a great villain by the way.

So excited for Season 3! Hopefully we don’t have to wait long, since their making 3 episodes instead of a full season. But either way I’m still excited and just glad that the creators are allowed to give the story a proper ending.

According to Dana Terrace, the reason behind the modification of the Season 3 and the enormous delay between the 2 parts of the Season 2 is just because some business people decided that the show doesn’t fit the “Disney” brand.

    Now we know :
    – positive LGBT representation = not ok for the Disney brand
    – concentration camp for Uyghurs = no problem for Disney brand
