Non Non Biyori Nonstop Episode 1: Kerocorder

The adorable country girls are back again for more chill shenanigans and many of us are here for it.

Right off the bat we were reminded what made this series special. All we saw in three minutes was everyone getting up and Renge meet a cow while playing her recorder. Yet it was one of the most serene three minutes of the first week of Winter 2021. The series still has it.

After the nice OP Renge met up with Konomi at the bus stop. Renge was in the first year of grade school while Konomi continued her high school education. When Renge told her she had trouble playing the “do” note on her recorder she invited her to practice over at her place. We’d join them there later.

After classes Komari and The Champ had class duties for the day but took longer to finish because Natsumi was being Natsumi. She noticed Renge make a clear tape doll and did more Natsumi things.

There was a fantastic moment in the middle involving Natsumi and two particular dolls but longtime visitors know I am a big fan of long pause jokes in anime. This one in the screen shot was excellent.Take nothing away from the other funny moment I mentioned. It left Natsumi speechless after all. This one just had me laughing harder.

The 2nd segment introduced a cute new face, Akane. She was in music class with Konomi. She struggled with playing her flute in public so when Konomi offered to help Akane took the opportunity to ask, thus she came to the countryside.

By the way. I’m sure longtime fans were eagerly anticipating Renge to say “IT”. I know I was. She said “IT” greeting Akane. Renge was asked by Konomi to guide Akane to her place for practice. This also served as a test for Akane to work on her stage fright.

After an epic encounter with Renge’s archenemy she introduced Akane to a friend of hers. She wasn’t too keen on befriending it.

Without realizing it Akane went from being nervous and a bit weirded out by Renge to easily helping her play the “do” note. Renge’s a gift to humanity but we already knew that.We learned at the end of the episode why Renge wanted to master the kero song. It fit the current year.

Plus there is potential for a Konomi X Akane ship methinks. We’ll have to wait and see as she’ll appear again next episode.

Good stuff. So glad these cuties are back for another season! This was a Renge episode with some Natsumi on the side and Akane’s big debut as a potential Konomi love interest. Could be wrong but we’ll see. The others didn’t do much but rest assured Komari and The Champ will be at full strength next episode based on the preview.
