I’m In Love With the Villainess Episode 1: Bully Love

It is time.

As always:

1: No source spoilers.

2: No comparing the anime with the source.

Rae confesses to Claire

We’re introduced to the otome game our main heroine was a huge fan off, especially its main antagonist, Claire Francois. She played it exclusively to gush over the token tsundere ojou-sama meanie. One day she’s somehow transported into the game world.

In isekai stories the protagonists’ top two causes of death are:

-The truck of doom.

-A combination of being overworked, malnourishment and poor self care.

That or maybe our heroine was so absorbed in the game world she’s just zapped into it because anime logic. For now it doesn’t matter.

Claire taken aback by Rae's sudden confessionTo her surprise the first thing our heroine saw upon opening her eyes was the love of her life formally scolding her for sleeping in class. Obviously the first thing our heroine did once she realized what happened was confess her love for the ojou-sama. No time to ask questions when true love was standing right in front of her. Wise course of action miss Rae Taylor, our heroine’s chosen name for the game protagonist and her new name going forward.

Rae demands Claire scorn her with all her mightRae’s forwardness must have triggered Claire’s desire to bully and humiliate the “commoner” for her “impertinence”. I imagine the lady saw her “inferior” classmate as unworthy to be near her but the madness that day made it clear to Claire she had to crush the kid real bad. To her shock Rae not only welcomed it but demanded her beloved hit her with every bit of scorn in her beautiful heart.

Misha questions Rae's infatuation with ClaireLater we’re introduced to Rae’s roommate and possible “Harumin” of the show Misha Jur. Currently we know she came from a former high class family whose luck ran out big time.

Misha: “Now you’ve done it. Claire made you her target.”

Rae: “Not yet. It’s more like I threw myself into her crosshair. It’s going be a long road ahead to winning her heart”

Misha: “Why do you like that stuck-up princess anyway?”

Rae: “Because no matter how much she bullies me there’s always a small hint of consideration in her actions. She hides her weakness behind a wall of meanness. That noble part of her is beautiful. That and her ‘bitchy ojou-sama’ attitude turns me on HARD. Her laugh is orgasmic…”

Misha: “Riiiiiiiight”

Claire nearly loses her composureThe routine continued until one day Claire was like “You say you ‘love’ me every day. I say quite throwing that word around like it’s a joke and get the hint that I want to destroy you!” to which Rae’s like “Then why are you obsessed with humiliating me? It’s because you love me, don’t cha?”. Misha noticed Rae’s “counter teasing” was getting her close to the danger zone of Claire losing interest in her. Rae’s response was to aim for Claire’s competitive spirit. Basically focus on becoming her raivaru like in the games. That way she’d be so determined to beat Rae she won’t leave her alone anymore, just like our heroine wanted.

The Brothers PrinceIn a way she’d get her wish when the Brothers Prince were formally introduced during one of our heroines’ daily routines. Brunette is Dookie Prince, blonde is Mayonnaise Prince and silver is Frosty Balls Prince. Long encounter short Claire had a crush on Frosty Balls but Rae “encouraging” her to confess activated her tsundereness and she blurted out her “dislike” of inferiority complex emo bro. Rae suggested they go apologize to him together but Claire was so humiliated she made it her life goal to destroy Rae with her own power.

We later joined Claire plotting her next scheme against Rae…while making sure she didn’t go too far. Big d’awww’ energy yo. Her minions (She has minions by the way) were like “You know she likes your teasing boss. Creeps us out, it does. Oh crap. Exams are coming up”. Claire got the idea of challenging Rae to compete for a higher grade in said exams. If Rae lost she’d leave the school. Our heroine intentionally played hard to get but got Claire to agree that if she won the ojou-sama would grant her one request.

Rae blown away by Claire's beautyHundreds of playthroughs made the written portion a breeze for Rae. While she had some skill in the proper etiquette area she’s defeated by “OH GOD CLAIRE’S SO HOT!” energy.

I wonder how many will get the above reference?

Rae uses water magicDuring the magic part of the exam it looked like compared to Claire’s fire magic Rae’s water magic was undermatched. However, Dookie Prince noticed there’s much more to Rae’s power than she let on.

The results in Rounds 1 and 2 were as expected. The highlights of course were Claire’s reactions. The surprise came when in the magic Round. Not that Rae came in 1st, that’s a given, but Misha came in 2nd. Claire and the Brothers Prince not making the Top 5 was interesting.

Great premiere. I plan on enjoying the fun times as much as possible before the show inevitably goes all seriousness.

Again, lips sealed please.

    Really fun episode!
Rae just got zapped into the isekai, I suppose she just keeled over and died from exhaustion, the usual kinda deal for isekai (aside from the truck accident lol)
Seeing Claire lose her mind over Rae is just so funny.

  4. Really enjoyed the premiere. I don’t know much about the series beyond all the praise people have been giving it, but so far I’d say it was worthy of having such hype. Excited to see where it’ll take us.

P.S. Misha is my favorite already.

I have been looking forward to this show since last year when the adaptation was announced since the announcement for the anime adaptation. Of course, the first episode exceeded expectations. But yes, it’s everything I hoped for, with some lovely moments with Rae and Claire.

Can’t wait to see more next week.,

It’s finally here! LET THE SEASON OF YURI CONTINUE!!!! I have been waiting for this premier for (literally) years. Let’s just say, don’t let the chaotic energy fool you. There is a LOT more to our heroine and villainess.

I love these types of stories, that mess with the villainess archetype. Inject that stuff into my veins. Like Rea, i am 100% downbad for a “mean” Oujo-sama, who is , secretly sweet and shy. (LOVE IT!)

I missed having AJ Lee’s theme song play in my head whenever you show up. Always a fun time.

It’s a critically acclaimed series so I know at some it’ll get “mad serious yo”.

Stories about loving the raivaru over the male love interests are admittedly more entertaining than “I can fix the bad boy” stories.

AOTY has premiered finally! Let us celebrate.

Rae is unapologetically gay and as interested in the male love interests as I am.

Hey, I’m finally here! It’s been a while, but I’m glad to be back!

Great first episode, Rae wastes no time getting to her objective, romancing Claire. It looks like Claire will be a tough nut to crack, but Rae has been waiting for this moment all her life.

Claire is so beautiful honestly, it’s easy to see why Rae fell for her so quickly. Love when she’s al flustered, makes her even cuter!

Just an all-around great first episode, I’m glad to be watching this one! Looking forward to the next one!
