Non Non Biyori Nonstop Episode 2: The Maturity of a Champion

Oh how I missed this. It felt like ages.

Not much to talk about in the first part. Kazuho got the gang to help her plant vegetable plants, especially tomatoes. Renge did her usual awesome optimism and boundless curiosity while Best Boy of all anime did Best Boy of all anime things.

There WAS something very important brought up about The Champ but we’ll get to it later.

Patience.

Next up was the return of Akane. She practiced some more with Konomi. To her surprise she’d mastered everything Konomi had to teach her and wanted to book a solo performance for Akane but she of course still had trouble playing in front of a crowd so Konomi introduced her to the rest of the gang.

It started rough but thanks to Natsumi’s casual introduction they found the best way to talk to her.

Instead of playing for them Akane ended up baking cookies with everyone. While doing more Best Boy of all anime stuff he got to play a ghost without knowing it. What a guy.

Reminder where Hotaru got her good looks from. Sexy Mama is sexy.

NOW we can talk about The Champ. Throughout the episode she was complimented for her maturity. Akane mistook her for a respectable teenager in their first meeting.

We were ever so delightfully reminded she’s still a fifth grade elementary school student who went all “Me want cookies and cake daddy!”.

What our lovable champion didn’t expect was there being another passenger on the train besides the three of them.

They looked like a lovely couple holding hands.

Konomi was like “It’s a surprise but you’re still in fifth grade so it shouldn’t be. Besides, Komari was like that too when she was around your age”. Komari fans got an interesting visual…Anyway Konomi offered to guide The Champ to her place so she wouldn’t get lost. She hesitated for a bit but accepted. At Konomi’s place our champion was surprised to see a certain someone there.

There she is. There’s the champion I missed seeing in all her glory. You were dearly missed Champ. Oh but it wasn’t over yet. Konomi explained Hotaru wanting to be spoiled like she was back in the day and Komari made a very tempting offer to our champion.

In case any NNB fans out there forgot there’s a reason why I address this wonderful girl as The Champ and it isn’t because she’s deceptively sexy. If the shrine wasn’t enough of a reminder of her deep love for Komari then this was.

This one I didn’t get. People in their 60’s and beyond still play with their dogs like this. I should know. My family and I do it all the time. In any case excellent episode. Next time it looks like a certain sister of a beloved mascot will make her return.
