Strike Witches 3: Road to Berlin Episode 5: Heksen in Nederland

In deze episode gingen we samen met Perrine, RAMBO en Shizuka naar Nederland aan een missie om de koninklijk to helpen. Laten we evens zien hoe ging het.

Minna sending Perrine on a mission to the Netherlands

Of course the rest of this post won’t be in Dutch.

Yoshika wondering what must be done

We joined RAMBO and Shizuka continuing their training to help control her magic. Didn’t mention this last time because that’s all they were doing before the Neuroi attacks. Perrine noticed them kinda sulking and gave them a tsundere push. Later she was called by Minna to go on the mission The Netherlands/Holland.

The Queen of Nederland talking about the Queen of Nederland Blue TulipsBlue Tulips

Upon arriving they saw a portrait of the castle and legendary Blue Tulips. The queen informed our heroines they were summoned in hopes their magic could help the few remaining tulips grow after they were nearly all wiped out by a Neuroi attack. The tulips bloomed thanks to the power of a Witch long ago.

Magic failed

Unfortunately it didn’t work. I’ll skip most of the scenes featuring the middle aged farmers. One of them disliked Witches. It’s the classic “grumpy old man slowly convinced our heroes are pretty cool after all” setup so no need to go into detail. What I will say is the grumpy farmer’s grumpiness got Perrine riled up determined to prove they could get the tulips to bloom.

Grumpy Perrine driving tank

Come on Perrine, tanks are cool.

Yoshika powering up the radiator

The next day after a whole day of farming they went to the greenhouse to check up on the remaining tulips. They had to be in an environment with a temperature of exactly 20 degrees Celsius to prevent wilting. Unfortunately the radiator that kept them warm malfunctioned (There you are again Coincidence Imp). Fortunately a farmer remembered an old Strike Unit that could help generate heat. Perrine offered to power it up but RAMBO insisted she do it in hopes of it helping with her magic training. We’ll get back to this and the unit later.

Hidden Neuroi

The next day was time for the tulips to hopefully bloom. While it looked like everything was theoretically ready there was one missing ingredient the farmers couldn’t recall. As Shizuka went to pump water at the well it needed an extra push. She used magic and uncovered a hidden Neuroi. It wreaked havoc on the greenhouse and only one tulip remained.

Yoshika charging toward the Neuroi

To think the path to RAMBO learning to balance her flight magic would come from a cold shower. Thank you Perrine.

Perrine's Lightning Magic

RAMBO’s signature badassery created an opening for Perrine to zap the Neuroi good. The day was almost saved.

Blue Tulip Charged

Turns out the missing ingredient was lightning and the Witch that made them bloom back then was Perrine’s grandma who the old unit belonged to. Hopefully Nederland will lend their support in the upcoming battle for Berlin.

Decent episode. Next time it looks like Barkhorn and Hartmann will get the spotlight

I still really enjoyed it, but I would say this was the weakest of them, STILL, we got Yoshika flying already, so the plot has progressed considerably and we’re not even to the halfway point!

I’m really missing Yoshika and Lynette interactions though….that’s part of why I want Yoshika back in the ranks so much now, rather than a bit later, then there won’t be all this Shizuka hanging around her.

Lightning being the missing ingredient was an interesting twist, and I liked how Perrine used that hoe as a conductor 🙂

Disappointed the whole post isn’t in Dutch, even if I can’t read it.

Kinda chill ep this week, not really a whole lot going on but it was a chance for some good bonding time for the Witches.

As expected there is always that one old guy who doesn’t like them. Every time.

Kinda random point but it was cool to see them fight a Neuroi without their guns. Also Yoshika going ham with the hoe was wild.

Excited for Trudy and Erica next week.

I know Dutch but am not that fluent in it.

Yup. Always nice seeing the Witches grow stronger together.

      Kind of a lame trope.

Oh yes. Nice seeing the Witches use more than shield magic this time.

      Vintage RAMBO badassery.

Perhaps they will develop stronger feelings for each other like Charlotte and Lucchini. One can hope
