It was time for Charlotte and Lucchini to reclaim the spotlight this episode.
Having broken the sound barrier in season 1 Charlotte/Shirley was surprised to learn someone beat her ground record. Thus she was determined to reclaim her throne as the speed queen.
The record was 180 MPH. It surprisingly didn’t take her very long to beat it but she felt unsatisfied. She wanted to set the ultimate record, which was 200 MPH. With some upgrades Rapid was able to break the 180 record but 200 seemed impossible for it. Shirley was determined to set the record with Rapid.
Before Shirley and Lucchini could work on setting the ultimate record a Neuroi attacked. Naturally this episode mainly being centered around Shirley it was a really quick enemy too fast for most of our heroines to keep up with. The Neuroi bombed the hangar landing a strong blow to the base.
The team ordered a new Strike unit made especially to keep up with the speedy Neuroi. Shirley was picked to pilot it but she preferred her old unit. Minna convinced her to “reconsider”. As Lucchini saw the new unit she got an idea.
Lucchini was excited to present the new and improved “Shirley and Lucchini Special”.
It wasn’t well received.
As expected the two didn’t talk to each other after that. Barkhorn though found a quick and easy way to explain the issue as she found Lucchini proudly forming round sand balls.
Barkhorn: Wouldn’t they look better with extra wings and propellers?
Lucchini: No. That would suck.
Barkhorn: Why?
Lucchini: …oh?
Barkhorn: See?
As Lucchini went to apologize Shirley beat her to it. She realized Lucchini was trying to help. Shirley told her how important Rapid was to her and the two happily worked together to make it good as new. The next day the Neuroi returned but Lucchini wasn’t next to Shirley when she woke up.
She took the new Strike unit to take out the Neuroi that was in the way of her Shirley living her dream. Unfortunately she couldn’t control its power and was in big trouble.
Shirley to the rescue! She took notes from Yang Xiao Long as Rapid made the ultimate sacrifice to help save Lucchini.
Shirley was like “You’re WAY more important to me than some record”. ShirLucchi bliss followed as Shirley whooped Neuroi booty and just as quikcly rushed over to her Italian Stallion. Oh and of course she broke the record.
Great stuff as usual. Next time it’s Perrine’s turn to take center stage as they pay a visit to the Netherlands.

You covered what was important really. I do hope we get back to Yoshika being in the frontlines before episode 11/12, but am greatly enjoying what we’re getting till then!

Perrine’s episode should be fun, and looks like Yoshika’s going to be in another bind.

Great Charlotte and Lucchini ep this week.
Some struggles that the two girls had to work out but they overcame them in end and as always Charlotte used her speed to save the day, even if it meant letting her bike get destroyed in the process.
I really liked the scene with Lucchini and Trude, a very simple explanation was all it took to get the point across to Lucchini. No need for a long drawn out conversation.
Slowly but surely Yoshika is getting her powers back, I’m sure we’ll see her back out there on the front lines soon enough.
Looking forward to seeing what Perrine is up to next week.

They’ve always been a cute ship but in this episode it’s clear as day they too are so much more. So nice.
Barkhorn keeping it simple was much appreciated. Lucchini got it right away.
