One of OG’s hype girls got the spotlight this episode. Let’s see what she brought to the table.
It didn’t take long for Miss Ai and Rina to join the SIC. Similar to AyuYu they too were so blown away by Setsuna’s awesomeness they wanted to join the club. Yu knew exactly how Miss Ai felt when she explained her reason.
A very good question Miss Ai. Kasumi and Setsuna, who seem to be co presidents, had the gang split up into clubs to practice their singing, exercise and idol knowledge. Miss Ai and Rina wanted to check out all group activities.
Rina’s so stiff she could barely manage a 90 degree angle.
Fortunately Miss Ai, aka the Club Building Hero set the two on the right track to becoming more flexible.
Pay very close attention when Karin was asked why she came to help despite not being a club member yet.
Kasumi’s idol knowledge seminar was interesting and played a big role in exploring Ai’s character. It was about what school idols needed to succeed. Ai, Rina and Shizuku all gave different answers and to their surprise they were all correct. Kasumi explained “whatever leads to making fans happy is the right answer” or something like that.
Next was the singing practice group. Ayumu wasn’t confident but everyone assured her she was doing well. Pay attention to her reaction when Yu gave her opinion. A cute moment saw Rina and Setsuna “geeking” out over a currently airing anime. Miss Ai was intrigued based on Setsuna’s hype.
This is why I said from the beginning that Ai X Rina are a destined couple. Their bond is so strong Miss Ai can tell when Rina’s super excited…despite having one facial expression and monotone voice most of the time. Plus Karin already has a girl she fancies, oh yes indeed.
Right then. Time to get serious. Setsuna and Kasumi discussed the option of everyone performing as “solo idols” instead of a 8 (eventually 9) member unit because everyone had the same goal but different ideas on how to reach it so why not have everyone go for gold their own way. Some of the others were also aware of this possibility.
Probably a pun that’s funnier in Japanese. Miss Ai was confused. She felt life would be easier if there was only one right answer for everything but as soon as she joined the SIC everyone’s different ideas overwhelmed her. She was so used to helping sports clubs by following the set rules and studying for tests with one right answer. The next day before the scheduled SIC meeting she went for a morning jog when she ran into Emma. She thanked Miss Ai for joining the team because she brought a lot of positive energy and looked like she had a lot of fun. This was greatly needed after the whole club disbandment thing. Miss Ai’s willingness to do more was exactly the kind of energy the club needed.
That’s when Ai found the answer she searched for. She liked having fun and if she could share her happiness with everyone that’s all she needed. She’s basically the “Sun” of the group, shining brightly and energizing everyone with her “power of positivity”. The New Day would be proud of her.
Like Yu said in the last scene of the episode, once everyone performs something amazing will surely happen, meaning we’ll most likely get 5 more performances and after that the gang will come together to finally become a group after finding the answers they’re all looking for. Excellent stuff as usual.
Next time it’s Emma’s turn to soul search. Hopefully a certain bishoujo will be the one to help her find her answer.

Good to see Ai and Rina officially join the group this week, they’re a welcome addition indeed.
It’s only a matter of time before Karin joins them too. Waiting for her ep now.
Solo idols in an interesting approach this time around, but I’m confident each girl can hold their own on stage.
Really liked the moment wish Nana and Rina talking about anime, Nana is so cute when she’s all fired up about something. It’s nice to see her having fun with the girls, a big change from her all serious all the time student council president persona.
Ai’s performance was cute and sexy. Watched it a number of times and it just brings a smile to your face each time. I really like these girls.

OG-Man, after this episode I now understand why Ai is one of your hype girls. That positive attitude of hers is so radiant.
I like Rina’s one-note expression. It’s very cute.
Solo Idols, eh? That’s an interesting direction to take for this series. With that said, Ai found her own Idol way by the end. She also took quite a liking to pun-crafting (thanks Emma).
