Adachi and Shimamura Episode 2: #HolySparkly

Last time we got an idea of what our two heroines were like. This episode shed some more light on their current relationship status.

At first I thought Adachi wasn’t fully aware of her deepest desires, another “Heart knows what the brain/mind does not” scenario. For the first half of the episode that appeared to be the case.

After Adachi’s interesting dream we continued where we left off after the ED last time with Shimamura meeting the loli astronaut. Her name was Yashiro Chikama. Viewers who remember Erio Touwa (before she was “cured” anyway) from Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko have a good idea of what to expect from Yashiro. Similar mannerisms and “philosophical” views on life while oozing with loli cuteness. Yashiro’s mission was to locate her “comrade”. In short Yashiro’s advice to Shimamura was to be aware of the fact she didn’t know what she wanted, meaning she did want something and the fact she wanted something was a good first step.

Last episode we mainly followed Shimamura’s perspective. It only made sense in this episode we followed the other main player of the kooky game of love. They both thought of each other as cats for their antisocial mannerisms and need to be near each other for whatever reason. After a bold move by Adachi, which we will get to in a bit, Shimamura thought about taking classes a bit more seriously because she didn’t want either of the two to stay behind. Adachi somewhat agreed with her reasoning. The two naturally could barely keep up in class.

A lot of interesting things happened in the lead up to the following huge moment.

Besides dreaming interesting dreams (we will get to that in a bit) Adachi complimented Shimamura’s scent, beauty, got nervous while sharing donuts with her all the way to this lewdest of moments. I’m pretty sure many non-manga and LN readers had collective joygasms like I did.

There was an awkward bliss inside Adachi until Yashiro showed up and her social awkwardness kicked in again. As Shimamura tried, in vain, to uncover the loli astronaut’s identity Adachi “skeedadled” leaving the other two confused.

Another dream about kissing Shimamura. Adachi’s brain caught on to the deep truth but had difficulty accepting it. Once excuse after another but she couldn’t run from the truth no matter how hard she tried. There was one emotion Adachi was certain about.

While following Shimamura we learned she wanted to grow closer to Adachi but was afraid of closeness between people. Developing deep/close relationships and everything that entailed scared her. Meanwhile Adachi was indeed socially awkward but the truth was she wanted Shimamura all to herself. Later when Hino and Nagafuji dropped by to eat with them Adachi admitted she didn’t mind their company but her possessiveness was undeniably strong. She wanted to be someone special to Shimamura but had no idea what her crush thought of her.

Too bad Other Joe isn’t watching this one because we need a full body shot of sexy Adachi in her Chinese waitress uniform.

Earlier Adachi let slip she had a side-job but didn’t want to tell Shimamura where. This meeting was entirely by happenstance. We met Shimamura’s mom and imouto. Cue “Moooom! you’re embarrassing me!” stuff.

I mentioned Hino and Nagafuji “cutting into” Adachi’s time with Shimamura. After that she took a chance and asked Shimamura to visit her house. Imouto wasn’t pleased with her dear onee-chan’s guest.
