Strike Witches 3: Road to Berlin Episode 2: Neuroiberg Ahead!

When we last RAMBO she was engaging a new type of Neuroi. Would she be able to take it down at less than 50% power?

Yoshika vs Iceberg Neuroi up close

Short answer, no. RAMBO did her best but without weapons all she could do was temporarily block its attacks. The Doge along with the Antwerpen defense fortress provided assistance and although they slowed it down it had a surprise for them.

Fortress down

It launched Bomber Neuroi and obliterated the fortress. To make matters worse RAMBO’s Strike Unit shot down. The Neuroi stopped attacking the Doge because its primary target appeared to be Antwerpen itself. The Doge distracted it for as long as possible while RAMBO was desperate to get back out there but the unit was far from repaired.

Yoshika ready for Round Two

Soon the Doge was close to critical but fortunately RAMBO was ready for Round Two looking all badass as usual. She fought her cute butt off as expected. She was close to destroying the core but again her unit gave out at the worst moment. All again seemed lost until…

Formation Emile

It was in the episode title and this was only Episode 2 so the cavalry arriving was a given but this episode was a good reminder of predictability not being a bad thing. Our heroines back together they went to work being awesome and eventually beat the Neuroi. But wait. We were sure there was one more…Uh-oh. RAMBO’s unit gave out AGAIN.

Shizuka returns too

There you are Shizuka.

Girlfriends reunited

Very important.

Bittersweet Victory

Although the Strike Witches destroyed the Neuroi and the Doge returned safely the iceberg remnant crashed into the Antwerper port so the enemy attack was somewhat successful. The time had come for the Strike Witches to mount an offensive on the Neuroi. A Nest was located at the center of Berlin, hence the “Road to Berlin” S3 title. We ended the episode with Shizuka officially joining the 501st Joint Fighter Wing.

So episodes 1 and 2 reminded viewers that the World Witches franchise is much more than panty shots. Episode 3 looks to focus on fulfilling our need for them cute gay booties again so that’ll be lovely.

Lynne x Yoshika are lovey-dovey as always and I hope that Shizuka gives up on Yoshika very soon.

Will be an interesting next episode – especially for Shizuka, when she finds out that Y x L are a couple/girlfriends/in a relationship.

    SO GOOD
Again, how is this show claiming to be 24 minutes long!??! There’s no way I spent that much time with it O_O
    Man I love the 501st ❤
This season is shaping up to be the best one yet, with the neuroi pulling out all the stops, and them finally launching humanity’s biggest counterattack, and Lynette getting some competition.

It’s sure to be quite the experience!

Non-stop action this ep, wow! So many explosions and cannons, and gunfire, what an action packed ep this week!

Honestly Yoshika was holding her own against that Neuroi pretty well. If she had a proper working Striker Unit and some more magic to burn, she might have been able to take that down on her own.

I’m a sucker for reunions like the one at the end of the ep, it was so nice to see everyone back together again on the same team. Really liked that moment a lot. And it’s great to see Shizuka officially made part of the 501st too, she’s going to be a great addition.

Gotta say it once more, love the new visuals and audio this season has. Granted S1 did come out in 2008 so a lot has improved since then, but wow I’m just blown away with how nice the presentation looks this season. That whole battle, which was pretty much the entire ep, looked and sounded incredible! Hope they can keep up this very high level of production value for the remaining 10 eps.

Looks like we’re back to the usual Strike Witches base antics next week, nice calm after all the action and before we get into the plot of the season. Hoping for some nice bath scenes too, but I’m guessing they’ll probably be censored.

    Hyped for next week!

      So good!

Now we know where John Rambo got his mad skills from. His ancestor Yoshika “RAMBO” Miyafuji!

Looking forward to seeing what kind of sweetness Shizuka will bring to the team of sweet gays.

Better to relish the excellent animation now rather than expect a high standard throughout. You know, just in case.

Stuff to look forward in the Blu-Rays should there be any.

Recently I have been missing them and so I have been watching previous episodes, and now they’re here.

Seeing them together again makes me happy.

I am looking forward for more!

  5. This was a fantastic episode. The battle was very well done. It was also tense since Yoshika was handicapped all throughout. But thanks to her the Doge’s efforts they were able to keep the Neuroi busy until the cavalry arrived! And seeing the good ol’ 501st warms my heart. I really missed these girls.
And hey, Shizuka is now an official member too!

Great reunion! And nice to see that the warships have some upgrades like anti-neuroi armor so that they’re no longer completely useless like before.
