The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess Episode 9: From Healing to the Next Round

I really needed this episode. Much needed stress relief. MUCH NEEDED.

Komari Bikini

#EmbraceTheYum.

Already off to a great start with our glorious petite vampire goddess showing us why she lives up to the once in a lifetime beauty title though she wasn’t enthusiastic about a beach break at first.

Sakuna bikiniThe first powerhouse of the harem graced us with her magnificence as she praised her beloved princess’ swimsuit. We learned that besides being Komari’s editor she’s essentially made to work extra hard as a Crimson Lord to make up for her crimes.

Vill BikiniNot to be outdone the bodacious Vill was like “Oh so it’s that easy for a girl to win you over, huh? Why won’t you notice this fine piece of AAA booty throwing herself at you daily? Now come play with me too.”

Komari and Sakuna try to cover Vill's slip upKomari and Sakuna relaxAt first I thought it’d only be the trio’s now established shtick of Komari enjoying Sakuna’s sweetness and Vill calling her out while “innocently” sassing Sakuna, just now with extra yum. Fortunately we’re treated to a special surprise. But first the plot. The real reason our heroines were called to a seaside resort was for a meeting with another warlord. During the Crimson Lord War one of Badass Komari’s explosions caused damage to the foreign region of Gerra-Aruka. The warlord of this region wasn’t associated with the vampires but she invited Komari for a meeting. Our heroine immediately suspected a trap but Empress Ren’s like “Eh. Spring it baby. If things get out of hand just whoop her ass”.

Before heading toward the meeting Vill asked Sakuna to bite her. Remember, Vill can see a bit into the future based on who drinks her blood. This of course was in case the meeting didn’t end well, especially for their princess.

Sakuna bites VillOh my goodness they pulled a Kampfer. Hooooo mama.

Komari perplexed by what she just sawI like to think part of Komari’s like “It feels weird seeing these two not fawn over me for once.” Bonus points for our wonderful heroine unable to look away from a magical moment.

Anyway Vill got the scoop so it’s time for the meeting. According to Vill the warriors of Gerra-Aruka were swordfighters. There were even rumors part of their bodies were made of metal.

Nelia and GertrudeAt last it’s time to meet the warlord Nelia Cunningham and her seemingly clumsy maid Gertrude. Both slipping during their entrance might be a hint the rumors were true or a way to drop our heroines’ guard. More on that later. Long meeting short Nelia wanted to form an alliance with Komari to conquer the world. When they compared their kill records and Komari boasted about her own it was enough to convince Nelia that this was the right call. However, the harem came to her “defense”. Our heroine feared the worst, aka another Flöte fiasco, but to her surprise Nelia’s just “You dare refuse my offer? Poopie I say!”. Komari tried to explain herself and it looked like Nelia’s willing to listen and explain herself but of course this show’s conflicts were driven by misunderstandings. This time it was Hunky Dog reporting the vampires and Nelia’s army got into a tussle and the vampires won. What triggered Nelia was him calling them “easy”. That and the Hunky Bunch destroying a landmark in search of an item to earn a bikini Komari selfie reward because of course they did. Vill saw all this coming and Komari was annoyed she didn’t tell her.

Later we’re sadly denied a wonderful scene of Empress Ren rubbing healing oil on Komari’s body. Hopefully cultured artists out there will work their magic, eh Kurigamiin? More importantly she called to inform Komari an emissary from the Heavenly Paradise wanted to meet her.

Karla AmatsuKarla Amatsu. While she also wanted to form an alliance with Komari the reason for it was because her region and Nelia’s had beef with each other. To Komari’s surprise Karla wasn’t looking for a violent solution, partially because she claimed to be strong enough to whoop all dem asses, but believed talking things through was better. Komari’s delighted to have possibly found a kindred spirit but right on cue Creeper messed it all up by delivering a letter from Nelia. Karla went from sus to triggered upon reading the full message. Komari tried to explain she was definitely a pacifist who didn’t want violence but Creeper being around and Vill, as usual, made things worse. Karla was about to call off the alliance because she thought vampires were barbaric brutes when Ren’s like “So you’re gonna axe the deal just because of one mishap? Komari. Waste this bitch”. Both sides tried to stand their ground when for some reason Vill “pushed” Komari into Karla.

Karla enthralled by KomariHaving seen the same trope time and time and time and time and time again in het harems and romcoms it is a breath of fresh air to see this “Get off of me you crass pig who I am obviously in love with but don’t want to show it because it’s embarrassing” accidental tackle trope with lesbians. I can count on one hand how many times we saw this in Yuri. That or my memory is foggy. Anyway Ren convinced Karla to go through with the alliance lest she wanted to look like a hypocrite.

Nelia reports to Inverse Moon leaderWe ended the episode with the reveal that Nelia’s another unwilling pawn of Inverse Moon. Dunno if her father was killed or humiliated but we’ll find out next time. Also earlier Nelia mentioned Komari and her met once before. We’ll see where that goes as the arc marches on.

Pretty good stuff as always.

  1. Wow, this was definitely worth the wait. Most especially for that unexpected surprise neck bite! Didn’t see it coming, but I’ll never shy away from an opportunity to see such moments. The harem ladies also are nicely endowed in their swimsuits.

I think both meetings went in unexpected, but also not surprising ways which were entertaining. I think the second was my favorite though, especially that ‘tackle’ trope. I believe you are correct in that it’s only happened a handful of times in Yuri and it is nice to see. I expect we have met at least one future harem member, but I’m hoping both will join up at some point, and the maid as a third too.

Really good stuff as usual. I’m glad your patience paid off and your day was boosted.

It’s glorious, as were the three swimsuit beauties.

Oh yes. I currently like Karla more than Nelia and Gertrude but hopefully all three join the harem. At least we can assume Karla most likely will.

We definitely need more Yuri tackles.

      Oh yes. It helped immensely.

The big one that comes to mind is the Chuuni accidental kiss scene. That was a fun show~
Anyway, Much happened here, and now I’m beginning to think, outside a very few outliers, every crimson general wants the same thing as Komari, and that’s precisely why Karen put her up to this, as some sort of plot to overturn the whole system. Makes one wonder if she might actually be running Inverse moon? That’s a bit too far thinking though probably.

While there was one week off, it’s nice to see the beach episode didn’t disappoint at all. Of course, I guess Komari’s forces defeating Nelia’s forces and blowing up the tower is a blessing in disguise for obvious reason. Have a feeling that Nelia has something to do with Inverse Moon.

That moment when Komari lands on Karla and sett them straight in the eye is amusing, but it’s a good thing that things worked out. Just wonder what will happen next.

Lovely eye candy. I like how every single other girl on the show is bustier than Komari ^^ I also like how every one of them gradually or immediately falls in love with her.

Vill is such a perfect background character visually. Any scene becomes ten times better and immediately makes me giggle when Vill is seen somewhere behind the other characters with her poker face.

  5. It’s funny that Komari fell in love with Sakura at first sight but It’s probably going to take longer for Vill

Nelia is so cute. Nice to finally see more of her in the anime. She’s one of my favorites in the LN and in the harem. Karla is ok. Not much to say about her. I hope the manga goes a different path and adds her to the harem, but I unfortunately doubt they will.

Komari and pals looked very nice in their swimsuits and it was good that Komari was actually able to genuinely have fun with those two. Additionally, it may have been just to activate Vill’s ability but that scene between her and Sakuna was most exquisite 😉 . She may have been a little sad they weren’t squabbling over her but Komari didn’t really mind it all that much.

Komari’s meetings with Nelia and Karla were hilarious as expected. I felt a little bad for Karla, being railroaded into an alliance and all that, but she kinda did bring it on herself by not listening to what Komari had to say first. Also, her reaction after being tackled makes me wonder how strong she really is.

As for Nelia, calling her army weak and destroying an important landmark on a whim, definitely a bad example of diplomatic reasoning but Komari’s squad doesn’t know what that word means, I’m sure.

So far this season has plenty of sweet “forehead kisses” and “neck biting kisses”. Let’s hope it ends with a genuine yuri kiss.
