It’s purple kitty time once more! My favorite time of this latest PreCure entry. Let’s rock!
What better way to start the episode than with the robot fangirls admiring how close their mistresses had become.
It looked like after the events of the fantastic 25th episode Yukari had become more cheerful. Himari certainly approved the happier Yukari.
Yukari’s joy didn’t last long. It all began when Yukari read a sentence in the English workbook that stated something like “No matter how much closer I am to you I still feel lonely”, hinting at AkiYuka’s status at that moment. As the day went on she saw how friendly Akira was with everyone and it didn’t make sense to her how her love interest could be so openly cheerful around people. She ran off. When Akira caught up to her, her best response was “I like seeing everyone around me in a good mood”. She kind of brought up her little sister. Basically Akira likes seeing the happy faces of people she helps who have some trouble, like her imouto.
Next day Akira tried cheering her up again. Yukari even got a hope spot when Akira said “I just love being with you” until she immediately added “So does everyone else”. Basically Yukari was still having trouble enjoying life as it were. She didn’t fully understand what it meant to ” have fun” yet. Something like that.
Yukari then got called by her grandma, asking if KiraPati could make a batch of macha flavored macaron for her. Remembering what happened last time she had to bake something personally Yukari felt unsure of herself. Ciel then showed her the way by saying “Perfection is defined differently from person to person”, meaning she didn’t have to bake them “perfectly” but bake them “your way”.
On her way back to grandma she was stopped by Elisio who had something wicked planned for her. He busted out a dark mirror which contained all of Yukari’s deepest insecurities as it were. He dared Cure Macaron to step inside and face the darkness, to which she accepted as an interesting challenge.
Inside the mirror Cure Macaron saw her past self as a manifestation of all her insecurities along with memories of her being raised to be a “Yamato Nadesico”. The negative energy tried to fill her with hate, saying “nobody she knew was truly her friend”, “no one knew the real her” or that she didn’t need anyone to be truly happy.
Cure Macaron didn’t give in to the darkness but rather accepted her negative traits as being part of her. She didn’t have to lock away from her bad stuff but accept them. Basically “find the fun herself, not wait for the fun to come to her”.
It should come as no surprise that Cure Chocolat was the most enraged of the Baking Rangers seeing Cure Macaron being tortured, which led to the two yet again showing off their ultimate combination and help save the day. Also it was a nice touch seeing the five Rangers using their team finale to beat the baddie this time instead of Cure Parfait finishing it off again. Oh and Cure Macaron’s device powered up. Two more to go.
Next time a certain imouto will return, meaning it’ll be Red time!
Alright Rory. You know what to do.
This was a great episode, I absolutely adored it. It’s pretty much a given I’d say that, though, as Yukari is my favourite member of the cast.
More AkiYuka moments are always welcome, and this episode delivered them. Akira and Yukari are certainly making a very strong argument for being my favourite pairing of this season, if not for the entire year.

But of course. As fellow Yukari fans this was yet another treasured episode.
As long as Toei keeps it up AkiYuka can definitely become one of PreCure’s best couples/ships.

It’s unfortunate that Akira gets to play the dense girlfriend role, but I’m sure eventually she’ll realize what’s actually going on, and stop hiding behind things. I honestly think Akira knows what sort of feelings she has, but is running away from them, saying it’s just the same as what she feels for her little sister/everyone. Doubt next episode that will be cleared up though. Probably won’t be till later on.
Expect lots of character development and whatnot, as that’s the purpose of the second half from that interview I read. It’s going to be much stronger focusing on the darkness inside people.

True but in this case it’s only a matter of time compared to similar pairings in other shows. Hopefully if what the interview said is true and the writers don’t chicken out it’ll only get better.
Fine by me as character exploration is where this PreCure entry shines brightest.
