Happy New Yuri Year Nation! GOD bless you all and I wish all my fans and peers nothing but the best in 2017. While it was not a good year overall across the globe with famous people passing away, economic and social instability and politics, it most certainly was not the worst ever. Depending on who one asks it was either a mediocre or great year personally. I would say for myself it was a pretty good one, especially when it comes to yuri goodness. While the “Bury Your Gays” trope sadly continued haunting the live-action scene it was not all doom and gloom. The anime/manga scene of 2016 had a slow yuri start in Winter but slowly started picking up in Spring and Summer and capped off with lots of surprises in Fall.

Source of image courtesy of our lovely neighbors in the Nation’s European sector led by the adorable Euroninja, Lena K. Check out the whole post HERE. I’m summing up their stuff while adding some of my own tweaks.

Let us not forget the HUGE impact lesbians made in the video game scene of 2016. The large abundance of visual/kinetic novels starring and/or featuring lesbians. We also got some localized video games featuring and/or starring lesbians such as Nights of Azure, Megadimension Neptunia VII, Valkyrie Drive, Senran Kagura: Estival Versus etc. Not to be outdone by Japan the West also dropped a yurirific bombshell with the reveal that the mascot of the huge Triple A game Overwatch, Tracer, has a girlfriend. I am certain other non-VN/KN Western titles have included lesbians but the Overwatch bombshell was the creme de la creme for 2016’s Western market.

Next up is the big rise of the yuri Manhwa scene with the continuation of titles such as Their Story, Her Pet, What Does The Fox Say?, Magan and Danai, Lily Love, Age 15+ etc. There were also new smash hits such as Pulse, Beloved, The Love Doctor and other titles that can be enjoyed by going to Lezhin Comics and supporting them there. Dunno if Beloved is also in Lezhin but definitely look that one up. Webcomics also continued showing yuri love such as Always Human, Sunstone and others I sadly have yet to discover.

Then there is also the announcements for some Grade 1 (Aka 100% yuri) shows coming in 2017 such as Dragon Maid, Citrus and Netsuzou Trap. Whether they will all deliver remains to be seen but it is nice to pick up shows you KNOW will be yurirific rather than hoping they will be every now and then.

Basically the yuri resurgence of 2015 is far from over and it is up to us, The Yuri Nation, to keep on spreading the yuri love worldwide and encouraging more peeps to see the beauty of romantic stories and even sexy times between women. Not to leave our Yaoi Republic neighbors out of the loop I am certain they too will work hard to support their beloved genre.

Now for some blog updates:

I am certain many fans are wondering where my OG’s Fav Shows of 2016, Yuri Hall of Fame Inductions and the Yuri Tournament posts are. Worry not doods. They are all coming very soon. It is just that, as mentioned above, Fall 2016 had a lot of yurirific goodness to offer and I have not been able to finish all the shows I wanted to before year’s end. So for that reason I will be postponing the Hall of Fame inductions and Yuri Tournament posts for next week as of this post so I can finish a few more shows and not leave any potential competitors without a chance to go for gold. I will do my best to post my fav shows list sometime this week along with a couple more G-Views. 2016 has been a very productive year for the Nation and it is both GLORIOUS and overwhelming in a good way.

So yeah, happy new yuri year and keep on rockin’ doods and peeps!

I would like to wish you a Happy New Year 2017 and lets all of us hope that this is going to be much better year because the one of few good that happened in 2016 was the amount of yourific shows mostly in fall 2016.

    Happy New Year, OG-Man!

Last year I emjoyed many anime shows, even though I stopped watching quite a few shows in the last autumn.
There were several personal reasons for my dropping the shows, your long absence was one of them, as being able to read and share ideas with others had become a big part of anime-watching for me.

I am so glad to have you back at reviewing anime, and that you will be holding yuri tournament 2016.
May this year be another good one for you and many fellow anime fans!

    Happy new year Mr OG
