After an excellent “Episode 3” and a super effective cliffhanger it is not an exaggeration to say my hype for this one was through the roof. Let’s get to it, shall we?
Last time Yumiko was having a hard time and unfairly let out her frustrations on Chika who stood her ground until she hinted at her doing something sleazy to get the main role in an upcoming high profile anime. Yumiko immediately regretted it and wanted to apologize. As she prepared herself she got a call about Chika being involved in a scandal. Yumiko rushed to school to help but she hadn’t come to class yet. Her home girl Wakana asked what’s wrong but their neighbor, the Yuhi Yugure fanboy decided NOW was the time to ask Yumiko about hers and Chika’s alter egos. As if lying in wait a dirtbag who could best be described as “someone with less than a hundred followers who had the balls to be a douche in front of the celebrity they constantly ridiculed online then never be heard of again because they’re scum” acted like a tough guy when Chika finally showed up and harassed her with an “interview”. He thought he’d expose Chika to the Internet as a “sleep to the top” kind of person when it was all BS he made up without proof.
I paid almost no attention to the fanboy, Kimura, in Episode 1 so I had no idea he was the sus boy who figured out our heroines’ true identities last episode. Looks like he’s not an enemy at least. Just a hardcore Yuhi Yugure stan. He tried to stop the dirtbag but wasn’t strong enough. Yumiko called out the douche but the creepazoid thought it’d be “ratings gold” if he exposed her alter ego too. Suddenly…
Badass.
She called out the “fan’s” hypocrisy then ran off. Also the douche eventually got what he deserved.
Yumiko caught up to her and apologized for her outburst. She knew Chika was against using her body to get ahead in showbiz but the cutie knew it’d take a miracle for the world to believe that. She’d had enough of the accusations, slander and harassment. Although the pain in her face was clear as day she announced her desire to quit voice acting.
Yumiko didn’t know what to next when Wakana revealed she had had a feeling for a long time that her bestie hid something from her. Even so she figured there was an important reason so she didn’t make a big deal of it. Now that she knew it’s Yumiko being a voice actor she let her fellow hot gyaru know she still had her back.
Afterward Yumiko called er manager to thank her for everything and say that maybe it’s time to say goodbye to her agency, especially after what she was about to do. She then called Mirei to schedule a “special edition” of Radio Girls. Long story short it was a tell all explaining who our heroines really were and more importantly the truth about Yuhi Yugure. She was not a sleazeball but one of the most hardworking people she knew.
Basically the entire speech could be summed up with “We lied to all of you. We aren’t the best of pals. In fact, we annoy each other on a daily basis. She may be a pain in the ass…but damn it she’s a future GOAT who did nothing wrong and deserves your support! (In fact…I want to fuck her brains out deep down!)”
Just like last time Chika was nearby and heard everything she said. She’s like “I hate that you’re always like this!” which is Chika for “Damn it! Stop making me fall deeper in love with you!”
Suddenly Director Kamishiro, the one paparazzi took photos of Chika secretly embracing appeared to clear everything up. Basically he’s her dad and she’s a “daddy’s little girl”. Remember, during their sleepover date Chika revealed the main reason she became a voice actor was to play a part in an anime her dad worked on. The surprise here was dad went from animator to director. Also to avoid accusations of nepotism he showed her as little support as possible during auditions for the lead role. Chika got the part through hard work. The hug was her celebrating the fact she’s about to live the dream.
Yumiko may be embarrassed over the stunt she pulled feeling kinda pointless but we all know she’s the real winner here. That and it got more than enough attention to save the Radio Rivals Show from cancellation. They ain’t done yet!
Our heroines dropped the curtains because their true selves made more money. According to my #1 “lesbian idol/seiyuu expert” spiritual sister, this is the natural progression of many aspiring female idols and seiyuu.
Great stuff as always.
Next time it looks like we’ll meet another aspiring seiyu, Mekuru Yubisaki.
This show has been a real surprise for me! Much better than I thought it’d be going in. She said it was “pointless”, but it’s actually thanks to that stunt that they got to continue their thing, and now with no more “saccharine fakeouts”. Total win win, esp considering while Chika’s dad could have solved pretty much everything regarding Chika, her little “stunt” definitely impressed Chika herself
Time to meet the “secret fan” from ep 1 (I think it was 1 when they did the “Live radio show…)! Curious what her story will be? And what sort of “persona” she’s probably hiding behind.

Their love will overcome anything.
Wakana deserves to get a cute girlfriend too. Yumiko is for Chika, but Wakana’s “I’m so excited for my friend that it’s normal to look deep in her eyes with our lips almost touching” moment was wonderful.

The glasses fanboy was willing to tackle the other guy and take one for the team so hey he gets points for that at least. Of course the real star of that bar brawl was Chika, who unleashed a mighty punch!
Yumiko choosing to do the livestream and possibly tanking her career was a really brave and touching move.
of course its likely director Kamishiro and Chika were planning to make an announcement already but Yumiko’s actions were still good and it served to bring Chika and Yumiko together. Director, go take note, that’s your future daughter in law haha
next ep seems like we ar getting a rival of sorts? How exciting!

so glad this scandal resolved in the best possible outcome: not only not harming their seiyuu careers, but also making them more popular (and thus extending their radio show), not to mention bringing Yumiko and Chika closer too. That jerk got what he deserved in the end.

YumiChi grew closer, the show was saved and the jerk paid for his crimes. Love to see it.

Chika punching the anti-fan was satisfying, but he deserved it.
Still, I kind of new that man in the “scandal” photos looks like Chika’s father. Yumiko doing a live stream trying to defend Chika’s reputation shows that she probably a lot closer to Chika than what everyone expected. At least it’s good thing that her father has nothing to do with the audition results, meaning Chika did it on her own.
I guess Yumiko doing the stream allowed her to save the radio show. Also, a new rival should be interesting, though.

Precisely.
Yumiko didn’t need to go extra but it definitely helped save the show and more importantly strengthen her relationship with Chika
Glad the scandal was resolved amicably.

The duality of a fan; We have Kimura, an actual fan and Shimizu, the strongest “knight” whose actions makes the object of his affection suffer. Some knight he was. Needless to say, props to Kimura for trying to stop him.
Chika’s might have bruised her hand decking that jerkwad, but that was a very satisfying punch. More satisfying was what happened to him later. I don’t even know why he’s so scared, he wanted to be famous on the internet so he got what he wanted 😉 .
It was funny how Yumiko thought what she did ended up not mattering but if she hadn’t done that, I think her Idol VA career would never have rebounded. Ultimately, what she did was a net good for her and Chika’s careers and their ever-developing bond.
Will be interesting to see what this new girl will bring to the table.
