Whisper Me a Love Song Episode 3: The Answer

We ended the last episode with a lovely cliffhanger. Now it’s time to find out what the answer was.

Himari felt like an outsider

We continued where we left off, with Himari wondering what love was. This wasn’t a recent thing. Since elementary/middle school Himari thought of “love” as a very close bond between people who cared for each other. One day in middle school a friend told her she loved a guy. When Himari said she did too the girl was about to bare her jelly fangs but Himari quickly explained what she meant and things calmed down. Howver, Himari felt like like an outcast as all her brahs got bit by the honi bug.

Back in the present she didn’t know what to do. Would she accept and push herself to be with Yori to please her or would she decline and make the person she deeply admired sad? The dilemma tore her apart.

Yori waiting for Himari's answerMeanwhile my heart ached seeing poor Yori laser focused on Himari’s answer, even during classes. Nothing else mattered but hearing what Himari would say. I don’t blame her. I would do the same thing were I in her shoes, especially after walking off before letting my crush give her thoughts.

Back to Himari. She went to Miki for help. After hearing her dilemma the bestie was surprised like many of us about the classic Yuri romance trope turned upside down. When Himari said she didn’t know how to respond Miki asked how she felt about Yori.

Himari: I love Yori-Senpai very much.

Miki: Well there you go. What’s the prob-

Himari: But I love you too Miki.

Miki's interesting reactionI had two thoughts about Miki’s reaction:

1: She said nothing because she understood her dilemma right away.

2: Maybe part of her would have welcomed the possibility of dating Himari in another universe, confirming she’s bi. Apparently she dated a boy in middle school.

Himari not knowing how to react to sexual intercourseMiki asked if she the thought of “Making Yori mine!” or romantic embraces and kisses ever crossed her mind. Poor Himari didn’t know how to react at all. Her heart wasn’t ready for the yum…yet.

Miki gives Himari advice

In the end Miki’s advice sounded something like “Give it a shot and see what happens. You don’t HAVE to love her romantically right away. If at some point you’re not feeling it at all then that’s it. There is no set equation to dating. You’ll find an answer sooner or later”.

Yori happy Himari repliedMy heart can’t stop aching for Yori. I don’t know how much time passed since the date but Himari not contacting her left her feeling empty and sad. She REALLY needed a response. When the fateful text finally came that simply said “I’m thinking about it. I’ll have my answer when ready. Please wait till then”. Yori INSTANTLY crawled out of the abyss. It wasn’t a “Yes” or “No” but the face Himari took her feelings seriously was more than enough to make her heart race.

More pained AkiBeing a third wheel with her hopes of victory decreasing day after day is suffering.

Himari suffering without her daily Yori energySpeaking of suffering, four days without her daily oshi energy. I know someone who can relate.

Himari's MomAs always I welcome sexy anime moms with open arms.

Still feeling lost the one with all the answers just so happened to be right under her nose. Hearing her parents being all lovey-dovey on the phone she asked Mom how Dad and her hooked up. Simple answer she said “no” the first time, he refused to give up, tried again until she’s like “What the heck. Let’s try one”, the stars were aligned that day, the rest was history. I guess it was a case of right place at the right time. Himari noticed similarities in how her mother felt and from that conversation found her answer. We can always count on our loving parents’ guidance.

Painful startYou know I’m fully invested when I’m as hyped for an answer to a romantic confession as I am for a Wrestlemania main event. It’s off to a rough start for Yori with Himari explaining they both loved each other but Himari’s love wasn’t the same as hers. Yori had a feeling that’d be the case but Himari got her hopes right back up saying she wanted them to continue spending time together. Then maybe something could happen.

Yori has a chanceBefore Himari could finish Yori stopped her because she was content. She wanted to EARN the magical moment. Himari giving her the opportunity was all she needed. It’s back to the original plan, do everything in her power to show Himari that becoming her girlfriend is the best thing ever.

Himari elatedHimari felt she had no right to determine the fate of Yori’s dream but was elated they got to spend time together again. That’s more than enough for her.

Back home as Yori felt she’s on cloud nine thanks to there still being hope she went right to work planning her first battle strategy. It was simple.

The band surprised Yori joined themJoin the band and shoot a rocking love arrow right through Himari’s heart. Speaking of the band we learned their original lead vocalist ditched them to join a new band. We’ll see where that goes.

Great stuff yet again!

  1. While I may not have any direct experience to relate to either of them, I was so invested in their struggles this episode. I was rooting for them to find some kind of middle ground, and I think they achieved that. I’m sure Yori will give it her best shot to make Himari fall for her, and I believe it will definitely reach her in time. I feel for the unrequited love friend too. Love Himari’s mom as well. Good stuff as always!

SOO GOOOOOD!!! I love that Himari really took the time to think about her feelings for Yori. I love that Yori gave her space to figure herself out. Even though it’s killing her inside.

I love that Maki was a bit pleased when Himari said “I love you.” Girl give off big Bi energy.

I also love how cute Himari’s mom was, after getting caught being all googly-eyed over her husband. (how rare is it to see a married couple act affectionate towards each other in media?) Mom was right. Sometimes it takes time and familiarity to see that person as The One.

It’s OK not to be certain. That’s what growing up is all about.

I’m glad they’re taking this journey together.

Also, Yori joining “That Lesbian Band” (literally every member is Gay, Gay GAAAYYYY!!!!)is a great idea. They get a singer-songwriter, and Yori gets somewhere to put all her swirling feelings.

Was so damn invested in what Himari would say and Yori’s reaction. Both were worth the wait!

Miki being bi is very cool.

Himari’s mom is love. One of the better sexy anime moms I’ve seen. Her advice was great, following up on Miki’s

Yeah. At this point I think the short redhead is gay too. Why else would she let her big homie hold her and not push her back at all? They’re like a less stressed Girls Band Cry, except Aki of course.

And the Fuwa Fuwaaa continues~! Maybe this will continue that until the very end? I’m sure we’ll have some sort of drama that’s impactful, but maybe just maybe, it’ll be fuwa fuwaaa to the end?

lol It’s just so obvious that Himari has it bad for Yori, just the problem of not really understanding her own feelings, which is a common enough problem for people out in the world.

Hopefully the third wheel gets someone before we get to the end of this season. May very well likely be the final quarter addition that always seems to be in these anime, but just somebody. Because Yori’s 100% not going to work out.

It’s a good episode. It’s obvious that Himari doesn’t have a true understanding of romantic love, but at least Yori still have hope that everything will work out and Himari will fall for her.

But there is plenty of time for Himari to figure out her feelings, but hopefully in Yori’s favor.

Also, Yori joining the band, hmmm…

Man this was a great ep!

Really liked how it showed both Himari and Yori’s reactions to the confessions and the anticipation towards the eventual answer that Himari would give her. It just felt natural I guess, at least that’s how I saw it. Oh well.

Interesting reaction from Miki when Himari said she loves her too, I caught that as well and it got me thinking too about what it could mean.

I actually really liked the scene with Himari’s mom, that was just so wonderful to watch. Great to have another sexy anime mom to love.

Gotta say I was on the edge of my seat waiting for that rooftop conversation at the end of the ep. Part of me was worried they would leave it on yet another cliffhanger until the next ep, but I’m so happy they didn’t.

And Yori deciding to join the band can only mean one thing.

Excited to watch the next ep!

It’s all good Sir Nickolas. You described the hype and build to Himari’s answer very well.

We’ll see if Miki’s reaction goes anywhere.

Mom’s advice was great and she’s another welcome sexy mama.

      So good!

So they are taking the slow and steady road. Good!

I like it when people are lovey-dovey from the get go. But for this case, I think this is better. Young Himari still need time, and that is perfectly fine. A good foundation will lead to long-lasting relationship IMO.

Ep 4 is already out as of this comment, going there now!
