Love Live! Nijigasaki Episode 7: Sister-Sister

It was an episode my dear sister Luzeri eagerly anticipated. Kanata’s episode! Let’s see what she had in store for us.

Kanata and Haruka

We began with an introduction of Kanata’s lovely younger sister Haruka. Their mother worked day shifts so she had little time to be with her girls. This was important for later. What mattered for the moment was Kanata cared greatly for her precious imouto and wanted to support her as much as she could, especially since she was a fellow school idol at her own school and her group had a big show coming up but before that she had a request. The following morning, per Haruka’s request Kanata took her to meet her homies.

Something worth noting. Pay VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to Ayumu’s reaction when Yu got giddy meeting Haruka. One of the two best running gags of Fall 2020 along with Ino’s poor attempts at hiding her gayness.

Don’t worry Kasukasu. You’ll always be the cutest to your fans.

Kanata training hard

To impress her precious imouto Kanata went all out to show how much stronger she’d become. So much so she took one of her trademark naps in front of her,

Haruka's bold decision

Haruka was somewhat surprised but not really after thinking about it. Kanata worked a part-time job, went to a prestigious high school AND did the school idol thing. Not only that but she insisted on doing the daily chores herself. It’s no wonder she took long naps at school. Taking all this into consideration Haruka made the bold decision to retire. Kanata was shocked. She knew how much Haruka loved being a school idol. She tried to make her reconsider but failed. Even Yu’s harem powers weren’t much help this time.

Kanata loves being a school idol

Kanata was so distraught she considered retiring instead of Haruka but Yu made sure she thought things through. Kanata loved being a school idol too much to want to quit. She also wanted Haruka to follow her dream but thought wanting both was selfish. The gang helped her see that both sisters wanted each other to be happy and the best course of action was for the two to work together to make it happen instead of Kanata carrying the heavy workload all by herself.

Kanata's Performance

On the day of Haruka’s “final” performance Kanata had a big surprise for her. She got the message across loud and clear during her excellent performance. The aftermath was so precious.

Another excellent episode. Next it’s Shizuku’s time to shine. Should be another good one.

Yes, I’ve been waiting for this episode. I’m always a fan of sisters’ relationships. To be honest my initial thought was Kanata and Haruka have the same relationship as Yui and Ui. You know what I mean. But I was wrong. I see the other side of Kanata and why she always looks so sleepy because she loves her sister too much. I knew she loves her sister a lot, but wow this is eye-opening. A difficult situation they had, I’m glad they worked it out. Kanata music video is my favorite so far. I’m bias yes, she’s so pretty in there. I’m hoping we’ll get to see Haruka again. And her performance with her idol group.

I thought Kanata sleeping all the time was just a cute trait but after this episode, it makes sense. That aside, she’s a cool big sis and Haruka’s a cool lil’ sis and they just wanted the other to be happy. They just needed the balance to do that without giving up their school idol dreams.

Pretty much summed up my thoughts for this in my review, but this has got to be my favorite ep yet. Well at least until the Karin ep airs.

Loved Kanata’s performance, by far it’s the best performance yet. The song, the dancing, the animation, it all came together wonderfully and it just hit all the right points for me.

Just an overall heartwarming ep, really loved this one.
