The Magical Revolution Episode 1: The Magicless Mage Princess

So apparently there’s an early screening. Guess 20-20-Gay is starting early.

Princess Cornered

We kicked things off with the titular princess in a pinch as she’s cornered by wolves. A hunter tried to help but…

Princess Slash“Hey! That’s my prey! Get your own!”

She proceeded to slaughter them as planned. The head hunter told his homie that she’s the Marauder Princess.Anis known for hunting rare monsters and harvesting their carcasses for materials. Similar to the bear battle in Novice Alchemist this battle was graphic. She’s the daughter of the royal family known for their great magic and also a high ranked Adventurer. The homie asked if she came from the royal family why was she using weapons instead of magic? The answer was she couldn’t use magic.

Anis tricks dadBack home Princess Anis got scolded by King Daddy but she used the law and the family “setting a good example” to avoid a bonk on the head and slipped away. The king and his right hand agreed she’s a wild child but at the same time knew her magical science research, aka “Magicology”, would one day be very useful. The royal advisers said the research would become a hindrance on the royal image but because she turned over the right to inherit the throne to her little brother Prince “Al” they didn’t think much of it. As all this happened Prince Al’s reactions were a mix of jealousy over all the attention Anis got but mostly rage over the responsibility he didn’t really want specifically for one reason.

The book that changed Anis' lifeBack to Anis. She was tended to by her sexy maid who was used to her antics and thought of them as her “teenager phase”, especially her desire to fly. She wondered why Anis always used a broom as her vehicle of flight. It all started when she’s 5 as she looked to the sky and thought about flying when she had a quick flash of her past life as a fan of Little Witch Academia along with her parents, probably her dad, possibly being pilots. Since that day many brooms were sacrificed along with many head injuries. The last hunt was the closest she got to flying until the wolves ruined her broom.

Anis and MaidSomeone for my good friend Sir Nickolas to gush over should he choose to pick this one up.

Anis and TiltyAnis went off to see the also sexy Tilty (heck all of the main ladies so far are sexy) with the materials in hopes of crafting gems to improve her next broom’s flying power. Though Tilty too thought her methods to achieve flight along with the desire itself were crazy she respected her determination and main goal of using Magicology to help people and as a way of coming closer to using magic even if it’s not exactly casting spells. Anis was like “this coming from the girl studying curses who almost blew up her family home.” and Tilty countered with a “At least my research is just a hobby”. The next topic came when Anis mentioned the freedom she got after Prince Al became the new heir which reminded Tilty of his fiancee the daughter of the Magenta Duke. She asked Anis what she knew about and was like “She’s hot”. She said she didn’t remember much about her but secretly remembered seeing the beauty using magic as a child and fell for her that day.

EuphiliaNext we were formally introduced to Prince Al’s fiancee Euphyllia who pretty much saw him cavorting with the daughter of Baron Cyan in class. After school she invited him to discuss the situation. Basically she said it wasn’t a good idea to go cavorting but Al was like “I like her more than you. Besides, you know this arranged marriage is just for convenience”. Euphyllia said it had to be done for the greater good (the greater good) and it’s best to avoid making a scene in public while choosing a true suitor in private or something like that. Not important. The point was Prince Al took that part of her spiel to heart and stormed off after hinting the plot of his upcoming scheme.

Euphyllia framed

Said scheme was to use the private chat Euphilia had with the baron’s daughter about it being a bad idea to accept Al’s cavorting…to ANNUL THEIR ENGAGEMENT DURING THE SCHOOL GRADUATION PARTY AND FRAME HER FOR BULLYING HIS NEW FIANCEE, which she obviously didn’t do but he had enough “witnesses” to dog pile her into submission.

Anis offers to kidnap EuphylliaSuddenly an out of control Anis who’s still trying to fly her latest broom rocket crashed the party. She saw Prince Al, the baron’s daughter and poor Euphyllia and deduced “Did he really dump her in public? It’s just like a bad telenovela plot.” She didn’t say that but might as well have. Anyway she’s like “Okay then. Yo hot stuff. I’m gonna kidnap you now. Alright?” Euphyllia half accepted but pulled back. That’s good enough for Anis as they jetted off into the night sky.

Anis taking Euphillia to meet their dadsAs she took her on a trip to the skies Euphillia asked where they’re headed and Anis’ like “Well I’m the Marauder Princess and I take what I want. Since Princey-poo doesn’t want you we’re heading over to meet our dads and officially announce my plan to make you mine!”

Pretty much the plot summary animated but that’s all I needed to get me hooked.

  1. The first episode was great! I don’t remember a whole lot from the source since I read like two chapters, but I feel like I am more invested via the anime, which is a very good thing. I think this episode will definitely do what it’s meant to and draw people in. I really like the maid and Euphilia really is beautiful! Excited to see the story continue and let the official kickoff of 20 gay 23 begin!

    Love the first episode!
The action scene in the first part was really nice.
Anis’ dream of flying was really cute, the montage of her attempted flight attempts was really funny.
jerk move of the prince there to frame up his former fiancee! It seems he really doesn’t want the engagement but there’s like a bunch of ways to break it to her gently, dude.
Ah well, at least Anis ran away with Euphyillia and took her flying in the night sky!

I love that they added more scenes with Anisphia, showing us what a selfish goofball she is.
The LN and Manga just start without telling you much about her.

The main thing I noticed about this episode is that a majority of it is anime original. The parts that are from the light novels are the flashback to when Anise was young and everything that happened at the party and afterwards.

Even if it was anime original, I still loved the scene of Anise wearing a wolf’s pelt on her head. That feels like something she would do.

Oh, and Anise is apparently a drug addict. She did say that those drugs that Tilty helped her develop were addicting.

Algard’s main problem is that he has an inferiority complex regarding his sister. That being said, dumping his fiancée in public and then framing her for a crime she didn’t commit is still a dick move.

I’m also curious what anime onlies think of Lainie. She didn’t really do much other than look nervous, but she was still the catalyst that led to Euphillia getting dumped.

Anyway, that was a decent first episode. I look forward to seeing more.

I watched this show blind. I didn’t know a thing, I probably watched the PV but I forgot. I thought Tilty is the love interest. I had a dream of this story. I know some people married for political purposes. Marriages of convenience they say. So I was like when there was no boy in the family or the boy rejected it, how I about the girl in the family marrying the girl of the other party. Win-win. I was young and free.

Btw, the horny prince. Seriously, like we can’t see why he chose the short-haired babe. I mean, I get it, she’s hot and has big bazookas (nice). But can you not do that in front of graduate teenagers. They’re not that important. Also his “friends” are going to fuck him hard. Forgive my language.

Anyways, I will be saving the rest of my thoughts for the next episode. It’s still the first episode after all. A very good one.

All the main ladies so far are hot.

Yes. That’s definitely a very cool setup. How convenient for an anime to start with a hopefully arranged marriage between girls. That or Anís has a Plan B. We the “blind” will find out eventually.

True. The short babe has powerful bazookas but that doesn’t excuse him humiliating his now ex fiancee. Fortunately she’s already found someone better. How long until she realizes it remains to be seen.

Very good premiere and hyped for more!

Just reading your summary it looks like this episode was largely anime original, spending more time introducing characters, and introducing them earlier as well. Tilty didn’t even appear until volume 2 of the LN, for instance.

Still, just because something is anime original doesn’t necessarily make it bad, and it looks like at least some of that was intended to try to cut down the need for narration, which the novels (being, you know, novels) are absolutely full of.

I’ll have to see how this turns out. So far what they’ve shown here seem like reasonable changes: the sorts of things one could reasonably assume must have happened offscreen at some point in the LNs. I do hope they don’t get carried away with original content, however. It’s a slippery slope.

Anyway, enough of that. I love many things about this series, and Anis casually crashing the party and yoinking her brother’s fiance is one of my favorite moments. I’m eager to see more.

So, I am reading all the sources (namely the WL, LN and Manga), but you always tried to remind everyone not to spoil anything so I will refrain. I will say this at least though, the anime does have some differences from the sources, nothing major but it’s enough to keep things fresh.

Oh who am I kidding, of course it’s fresh! This princess, I tell you, it never get boring with her around. Looking forward to the next episodes!

That’s the point. No source spoilers to emulate a blind experience. Helps that I rarely consume the source myself of these adaptations.

Excited for more cool gay princess and her beloved!

Really really really fun premiere! Anis is hilariously adorable, and I can see why she fell for Euphilia so fast~ The prince has his tastes, and I don’t fault him for choosing a lesser being over Euphylia, but the way he did it was a no go. I know it’s probably because it was the only way he saw that he could pull off breaking the engagement and saving face, and he couldn’t inform Euphy because she obviously is stuck on certain ideas and would not have gone along with it…but still. It was really jerk

Fine though, because it gave Anis a spark that she’s going to turn into a Klee level explosion, I’ve no doubt ❤

    So much fun!

Finally watched the first episode with the official premiere and just put out my review. As expected, the first episode was interesting and Anne is a fun princess, although her maid have it pretty hard having to look after her. I do like her personality

But all I can say is Anne’s brother is a big a-hole and it’s his loss. Will be funny to see him lose everything, but it should be interesting to see how Anne can use Euphyllia to her advantage and perhaps get back at him. Should be interesting to see how Anne’s and Euphyllia’s relationship with each other will develop from here.

So Rick finally talked me into watching this an honestly it was quite good. You know how I feel about isekai shows most of the time, but this really didn’t feel like one, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much. Off to a solid start to far and I really like Anis so far. Looking forward to watching more!
