We left on a worrisome cliffhanger last episode. Hopefully one of our heroines could bounce back from the accident.
The Dream Monkeys couldn’t focus during most of the first period, especially Naomi. Kaoruko could hold down the goalpost for so long until their opponents scored. It was hard not to notice Naomi’s head wasn’t in the game so she called her to the bench. Knowing that sulking would get her nowhere she asked to go wash her face.
In the DM locker she’s surprised to see Riko crying. She had a swollen ankle and no definitive return date. This made Naomi refocus, determined to show Riko her time spent training her wasn’t a waste.
Riko was like Naomi’s “prince” since childhood. She didn’t say that but around here we can easily see it’s what she meant. She’s always there for her, helping and protecting her.
When they’re older Naomi joined Riko in ice hockey. She couldn’t skate as well as Riko and wanted to give up but after seeing Riko struggle too and refuse to give up she tried a little longer. That was until she saw a beautiful figure skater. She quit hockey to become a skater. As we know there’s an off-screen accident that played a part in her quitting but the real reason was, like Riko who got bored of hockey after Naomi left, she felt lonely without her.
The two realized they wanted to play together more. Ice hockey was THE sport but the main goal was to be on the same team together 4 EVAH!
The Dream Monkeys’ comeback was awesome. No need to go over every detail or kickass play. Better seen than described. They won the game 3-2.
They went back to their usual “cool tomboy and tsundere princess” but knew they wanted to be together. Riko would have to sit out one more game before she could play again so it’s up to Naomi to help win another one so they could fulfill their promise. Best pair did it again! Bless them.
Meanwhile Snow White’s first round was a cakewalk thanks to Maya. The problem was some of the girls got cocky and thought with the Canadian Bombshell doing the heavy lifting they’d be a shoe-in to reach Rank A again. The worried redhead called them out on repeating the same mistake that demoted them but they pushed back saying she’s jealous of Maya taking her spot. Maya meanwhile had no idea what’s going on.
We ended the episode with Manaka getting a text from Mami saying she’d return to play there soon. Should be very interesting to see how far she’s come and which team she’s on. Good stuff as always.
