Mieruko-Chan Episode 4: Double-Edged Vision

Most of this episode was more of the same except for the last part.

Miko's brother checks up on her

For some reason I found Miko’s brother quietly staring at her having a nightmare (thinking she had one of “those” dreams) weirdly amusing.

Miko and brother watching a horror showStay tuned after the ED to find out what Miko actually saw on the horror show.

Big Old Man GhostIn Part 1 Miko and Lil’ Bro watching a horror show. She of course saw something scary. To calm herself she went out for a drink at the nearby vending machine. Lil’ Bro asked for one too. While there she dropped a coin and as she went to pick it up noticed a tiny old man ghost. She found it strangely adorable and tried luring it out. As the screen grab shows it was a grave mistake on her part. This would be one of two very close calls this episode where Miko’s so terrified the ghosts almost saw through her poker face. Luck just so happened to be on her side.

In Part 2 Lil’ Bro started worrying about big sis’ recent strange behavior. He asked one of his classmates for advice. Another one thought maybe she had a boyfriend. He didn’t believe it at first but his concern for her was too great.

Miko taking a showerFull body shots another time. We didn’t get much “just because” sexiness last episode. Fortunately people of culture were blessed with a Miko bath scene. There’s an obvious catch. This was the second close call of the episode. While Miko blessed the enlightened with her magnificence she again came close to alerting a bathroom ghost of her ability. As mentioned before luck was on her side as Lil’ Bro joined her for a bath. They were able to clear the air about the “boyfriend” thing.

Miko's family and a big ghostIn Part 3 Miko was set for school as she contemplated about ghost sightings becoming more frequent every passing day. Things didn’t get any better at the dining room as shown here. Once again she’s in a fight for survival and protection. The important part came when they brought up a pudding she bought at the store earlier in the episode (plus something extra due to a ghost cashier). Lil’ Bro told her to label her food as to avoid fights like the one she had with dad last time. She held on this time. Before going to school she remembered something and went back for the pudding.

Miko's Dad's shrineNot gonna lie, this got me. I can’t stand this trope but this one time I’ll admit it got me in the kokoro.

Good stuff as usual.

Mystery girlCould this running gag of mine come to an end next episode? Will I finally use another screen grab?

Another nice episode, light on the Miko and Hana moments but still nice to see them together. Miko’s brother is really funny and amusing, he does care for his sister a lot it seems which is cute and nice.

Also that ending OMG my heart, I actually was not prepared for that but it was such a heartwarming moment and I teared up. Good twist Mieruko-chan good twist. Again Miko’s spiritual awareness isn’t all that bad.

Overall another fun episode and I can’t wait for more!

That ending made my jaw drop, I had to rewatch the entire sequence again and realized at no point did mom and bro acknowledge dad at all

  3. Yup, that ending got me too. Honestly had no idea about the dad until the reveal, but it all makes sense now. Good stuff as usual.

    Another good episode!

The way Mieruko and her little brother care about each other is cute and wholesome.

But that Ending man. Just like everyone said, right in the kokoro.

Still eager for 3rd girl’s proper introduction! Here’s hoping it is next episode!

I like to go back and read the chapters that were covered in the episode each time because of what I found when I was curious after a comment I read. And it’s really amazing how well they adapt everything, but also enrich it with new details that make the experience ever better. No spoilers from me, because I don’t read anything that hasn’t been adapted yet. Just something I found pretty interesting.

That last scene got me hard too T_T I love how this show can be just as creep up with the horror, as with the feels~

    That ep title has got to mean it’s time for her to make her screentime debut!…..I hope anyway ;_;

Mieruko is really being pushed to her limits….

Miko got quite careless in that first encounter. She’d better be thankful to that crow and its attraction to shiny stuff 😉

He may be bratty sometimes, but Miko’s brother really cares about her. He was even an unintentional lifesaver, so he’s alright.

When they were talking about how rare that pudding was, I just knew that Miko was not going to get the chance to taste that delicacy, however, how it happened threw me for a loop. Seeing him around the house so naturally, I did not think for a second that her dad was already dead. It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to say that she can see him, which makes what happened at the end even sadder and more touching.
