Sure. Add a typhoon to ramp up the drama.
It looked like part of Kukuru knew there’s little she could do to stop Gama Gama from closing so desperate times called for desperate measures, barricades. With a typhoon on its way everyone went home knowing Kukuru would at least be safe inside the aquarium.
Guided by her worries for Kukuru’s loneliness along with the guilt of not yet answering her question last episode and maybe a little push from the kijimuna Fuuka braved the storm to go to her. She tried pushing her away but Fuuka was used to her shtick by now so she helped out.
Later that night Kukuru was about to call a taxi when Fuuka stopped her. She’s like “You said you wanted me to help you achieve your dream, remember? I’m staying with you. I want to.” but Kukuru’s like “What about your dream? You have that movie offer, right? Go for it. I can handle this by myself”. Fuuka hesitated but Kukuru pushing her away seemed to help make her decision. However, they couldn’t resolve anything due to a power outage. As they checked on the aquarium Fuuka noticed the leaky roof. Kukuru said the aquarium was old but with enough time and maintenance it’d last for a long time. She refused to give up on the last remaining memory of her parents.
Things got even worse as the storm intensified. Kukuru and Fuuka did their best to “hold the fort” but their opponent was too strong. It got so bad Kukuru was close to breaking down, basically wondering why GOD was taking what she loved most away. Fuuka snapped her out of it saying that if her dream were taken away she still had her future. She still had her sea buddies. Fortunately as soon as the storm calmed down somewhat the cavalry arrived.
As per usual in Japanese media there was no “last minute miracle” to save the aquarium. As much as it hurt it’s most likely over for Gama Gama. On the bright side Fuuka realized by helping Kukuru she grew stronger as a person herself.
Good stuff as usual. Next time is the end of the 1st half.
