The preview hinted a seitokai election episode. While we did get that it wasn’t the main focus.
Ren announced a student council president election. Fearing a Ren victory would mean the end of school idols in Yu(r)igaoka Keke insisted Kanon should run too. Kanon reacted like a sane human would.
Hearing Kanon’s refusal Sumire gladly stepped up. While Keke and Chisato intentionally ignored her Kanon thanked her.
The Ren vs Sumire election went exactly as most expected. The Headmistress even got to show her comedic timing. So good. In all seriousness the main reason Ren won was her promise to give equal opportunity to all General Courses, not just the Music Course.
I need not repeat the excellence of Sumire and Keke’s comedic timing as that’s well documented by now. Chisato provided her own witty contribution.
Kanon later approached Ren to discuss a compromise wherein the School Idol Club wasn’t in jeopardy. Ren admitted she had nothing against school idols. She just felt it was for the sake of Yu(r)igaoka to not have them.
During Ren’s inauguration speech she pulled a “politician” and contradicted her promise that got her elected by prioritizing the Music Course after all. As seen in the screen grab she knew it’s a bad idea but went for it anyway, for the sake of the school. More on that later. General Course Students immediately made a petition to oppose her announcement. Sumire suggested a recall with her again in the forefront while Keke again wanted Kanon. Kanon instead convinced the gang to follow Ren in hopes of getting answers.
Knowing Sumire had experience in “Showbizniss” they had her sneak closer to Ren. Her poop disguise was so good Ren didn’t notice her at all, much to her sadness. They followed all the way to her mansion. The maid welcomed them in.
Puppy Chibi.
Present Chibi.
As they tried to escape the mighty Chibi Kanon ran into a purple photo album. It was full of photos of Ren’s Mom’s time in Yu(r)igaoka along with a photo of her and the Headmistress in their high school years.
The time has come to reveal Ren’s story. We already knew her family owned the school. Unfortunately Ren lost both her parents over time and her inheritance money was about to run out. Maybe not but point was things weren’t good. Earlier in the episode she asked the Headmistress how many students enrolled in the school this year. Based on her decision to prioritize the school’s Music Course during the upcoming school festival in an effort to attract new students, the answer was “Not enough to keep the school running”. I’m sure readers got the gist.
Some Love Live fans didn’t like Nijigasaki’s “Individualism” direction but liked that Liella seemed to be going “back to basics”. Can’t get more “b to b” than what I imagine is going to happen next time. I may be proven wrong so for now let’s wait and see. This was another pretty good episode of course.
Another good episode. I am glad we got to learn more about Ren, but poor her parents passed and she is doing her best to uphold the legacy her mom left. I am sure the girls will figure something out and ofc Ren will join them and Liella will be complete! Also we got a ton of banter and funny moments, honestly Liella are just a bunch of dorks and I can’t help but love them as much as their senpais before them! Definitely looking forward to the next episode!

I dunno how the subs did it, but what i got was not that the school was shutting down, but that she’d lose ownership of the school. It did specifically call out management of the school, and if the school was going to shut down, the headmistress wouldn’t be keeping it a secret at this point (as seen in Sunshine where they were let know what was going to happen). She also is way too calm about everything for it to be that serious of a situation.
Ren’s family were rich, and owned much, but because they both died, and apparently there was no family to take it over, the money ran out as the only heiress had no way to make money herself, being too young for it. Possibly had someone managing the money that screwed over the finances even. Its hard to say. Could be something as simple as Ren has no idea how to manage finances (which I wouldn’t fault her for).
The episode specifically called out “management” of the school. her saying “my mom’s school” could be referring to the school itself, but it could also be referring to how it was her mom’s school.
It seems more like, instead of “SAVING THE SCHOOL”, it’s about saving Ren from a financial crisis, and letting her hold onto the one other thing that her mom left her (the house is undoubtedly already getting sold).
But it could be going the usual route too.

Very interested to see how the girls resolve this situation and if it again will follow the tried and true format.
No. I don’t feel like going on a plot hole rant. Someone else already did that.

Good ep this week.
Things got a little nuts over in my review, so I’ll leave all the serious takes for that.
Big highlight for me was the super cute maid at Ren’s house. Ah she’s so cute!!! Kana Hanazawa voicing her as well. Can’t get much better than that.
Looks like the drama continues next week!

I get your grievances with the episode. We’ll see what happens next time before passing judgment.
The election stuff was of course great.
The maid is lovely indeed.

Another great episode!
As others have said, Liella are just such adorable and lovable dorks! They had me laughing with their usual antics!
Eager to have Ren “see the light” and join Liella. Which should be next week I’m guessing? Either way i’m looking forward to more!

The gang are most excellent, yes.
We’ll have to wait and see but she may join next episode.

I have a feeling that I heard this premise before. The “saving the school” thing is getting a bit old although it’s not made very obvious. Still, it’s funny to see Sumire think that bribing students with food and get caught. I find the negative 20 votes hilarious as a punishment.
Aside from that, I wonder why Ren is against school idols. I guess she might know about the two other schools saving their school by becoming school idols. Then again, she has too much pride to become one, or something to do with her mother. Still, it can explain why the headmaster seem so willing to allow Kanon and Keke to form a school idol unit. I won’t be too surprised to see Ren cave, but I think it will happen sooner than later..

Another arc that is a tradition in the franchise is the setokaichou who is reluctant to accept the idol group but that also include some issue with the school condition.
While Muse sucess to save they school, Aquor didn`t but it was fine because it was side of maturity of the members
Since superstar want to be international because Keke is possible they save the scool

It’s possible Keke’s family could help donate but we’ll have to wait and see what happens next time.
