As the title implied this episode was about making recipes and searching for important things.
Part 1 was a Shouta the shota segment so I won’t go into great detail. Father’s Day was coming up and he wanted to make a cool talisman as a gift to show his progress in alchemy. He didn’t want Lucoa’s help. It was harder than he thought so he asked his manly role model Bobby for help. He compared his recipe book to the online co-op game they’re playing. Not sure what it’s a reference to. Point was to think carefully about the author/creator’s intent in their writing/creation. Eventually he figured it out and I assume dad gave him a passing grade.
There’s a “tiddy day” running gag with Lucoa. Dunno if she misunderstood “Father’s Day” as “Tiddy Day” but whatever.
Speaking of Lucoa she played a small but effective role in Part B. Miss Kobayashi got sick. Tohru, being a dragon, was immune to viruses that affected human. However, she didn’t know how to care for a sick person. Naturally she grew worried for her beloved. It surprised her that she had to ask three of her dragon buddies before she got helpful advice. That admittedly got a chuckle. After a “decent” attempt at porridge or whatever it was she made for her Tohru helped wash her back. She had mixed feelings of lust and worry for Miss Kobayashi.
She thought about the many human villages that fell to ruin from a plague or pandemic and grew so worried she rushed off to her world in search of an effective medicine. As we can see the search was rigorous but she found something that might help. Miss Kobayashi, who felt better after some rest, didn’t want to Tohru’s hard work to go to waste so she took the medicine. She didn’t know if the medicine worked or not but Tohru’s smile was as good as any cure.
The medicine did work. Just differently than expected. It was definitely worth the trip for Tohru.
Part 3 was about Ilulu. One day at work there was a doll in a basket. She wanted to find its owner but Boy said the one who left it would come back the next day. They didn’t so they searched for them but no luck. She asked the kids and later Miss Kobayashi for help. The latter suggested using her powerful nose to track the owner’s scent. We learned the reason why she’s determined to find the doll’s owner. She had a hunch the owner missed it. It also reminded her of a past mistake. One of her old friends gifted her with a special doll but due to her family’s bad influence she eventually abandoned it, a decision that she deeply regretted. She didn’t want another person to suffer like her. Boy was there to support her.
Thanks to Miss Kobayashi doing some extra digging she found the owner’s home address. As Ilulu thought the owner was also forced to get rid of the doll but she too regretted it. Ilulu was like “Don’t be ashamed of loving your doll. Just welcome her back home”.
It’s kind of a bummer the story seems to want to ship Ilulu with Boy but like Lucoa and Shouta the shota it doesn’t matter to me because I love Ilulu as a character a lot. Basically I care even less about Boy than Shouta. At least Shouta’s an alchemist. That’s cool.
Good stuff as always.
