Blue Reflection Ray Episode 4: To Mesh or not to mesh

When we last left our heroines Ruka was able to become a Reflector and help Hiori battle the Red Ring Gang to rescue Miyako’s fragment. Meanwhile Momo had her hands full with Mio until the latter gave her a parting gift.

Miyako joins the Blue Reflectors

Having been the victim of the Red Ring Gang twice and based on her rocky relationship with her mom Miyako decided to join our the Blue Rings as their advisor. Could this mean she’ll become a Reflector in the future? It’s a possibility but for now she’s their tsundere advisor. The first step was to move out of her house into the school dorms.

Momo feeling downMeanwhile our soon to be gay duo tried asking Momo to train them to become better Reflectors but she’s like “Let me think about it first”. The first reason was because she remembered who Mio was and was hesitant to reveal the truth to Hiori as she dreamed about what may happen were she to tell her. The other reason would be revealed later.

Shino in pain

At the Red Ring Gang’s lair we saw Shino suffering from some unknown virus. I’m sure peeps who played the game may know the cause but as much as I know  it hurts some of you holding back vital information around here I again ask to not spoil anything related to the game. Anyway Shino kept the virus/sickness a secret from Mio who assured her Momo knowing who she was hadn’t caused her to waver from the Red Ring Way.

Hiori's hopeBack to our heroines. Miyako suggested the best way to work on their teamwork and prove to Momo they’re legit was to get to know each other better. In the end they realized they had very little in common. To Ruka’s confusion this pleased Hiori.

Ema and YumaBefore the Hiori and Ruka getting to know each other montage one of Hiori’s ideas to become a stronger team was playing tennis like the popular pair EmaYuma. However, behind the scenes it appeared cracks were forming. Ema told Yuma she was a great player and lowered her skill level so Ema wouldn’t look bad. This caused Yuma to worry over upsetting Ema as she thought about typical jelly schoolgirls. As the darkness consumed her the red rings came to collect.

Momo helps Ruka and Hiori battleThe blue rings arrived to stop the red rings but it seemed the red rings’ synergy was stronger. Momo even acted like she’d given up hope when Uta called her half-hearted. See, the reason Hiori was glad Ruka and her were very different was because they accepted their differences and still cared enough for each other to make it work. Opposites attract and all that. Seeing them moving forward made Momo question herself. For a long time Momo felt like she didn’t belong anywhere and pushed everyone else away, even her family. Maybe there’s more to it than that but she remembered the reason she got a blue ring. It was because her desire to become better than who she used to be was still there. She rekindled her fiery passion and was like “I’m better fighting with my fists than a sword.”

Uta carried away by NinaAlthough the blue rings reflected Uta’s special move back at her she was carried away by her pwecious Nina so losing wasn’t all bad.

Yuma patched things up with Ema by showing she wanted to help Ema get better instead of slowing down for her sake.

Momo back in high schoolMomo. 18 year old high school girl. Held back two years. Was let back in thanks to some “connections”.

Good stuff once more.

Ruka x Hiori => opposites attract.

It’s very hard to speak about what I think is going on, because of game spoilers, but I’ll try:
    I don’t think that was a “dream”

I also don’t really know what that “sickness” is, but have suspicion it is similar to Madoka’s “witch” system.

It’s nice that Miyako moved away from her mother. Her favoritism for her son and disregarding her daughter is toxic. Still, it’s good that she is helping Hiyo and Ruka to get closer, although it’s not too surprising to see a lot of difference. I guess opposites makes duos stronger I guess. Also, it’s funny how Momo corners Miyako.

Still, I wonder why Momo snaped at her parents. Still, it’s good that she find her purpose and hopefully she can help Hiyo and Ruka out. Even so, I am not surprised that Mio’s motives might have to do with Shino in some way.

That and she wanted to be their friend.

Opposites often attract in media, yes.

Wasn’t made clear what made Momo feel the way she did but for now it’s good she’s back on the right track.

I have a question before i start this i have the game but haven’t started it. And have been getting different answers about about the level of yuri in it. some say it’s really low to almost not there. is it really that low and should i play the game before watching the anime

The yuri is DEFINTELY NOT “really low”
It’s quite high actually. Though the localization takes away some of the plausible yuri, I don’t think it takes away the other stuff? I’m not sure, I played the import version. Just know that they assumed a “senpai” was a boy when doing the english, but the JP never specifies, and kinda makes it decently plausible that it’s a girl. That’s only a small piece of the overall yuri picture.I don’t want to get into too much else. Anyone who says it’s “very little”, are probably the type who won’t accept something as being yuri unless there are kisses/something beyond that involved.

I would definitely recommend playing the game before starting this. I have a feeling it’s going to be linked very heavily by the end, and everyone who decided they’d do so are going to regret that decision. I could be very wrong, of course.

Wow, Momo is way younger than I thought. Also she’s way more badass using fists as her weapon.
