Super Cub Episode 4: Summer Jobbin’

Summer vacation had come and our precious heroine had plans.

After exams Koguma wanted to get a Summer job, specially one that had her riding the Super Cub. She got paper delivery.

Expect to see a lot of adult stretching action this episode. As a 33 year old I can relate.

Once she got used to it trips back and forth were enjoyable but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Koguma may have bested the wind but there was another weather condition that challenged her.

Summer Rain.

It was a stronger opponent than wind she (her wallet) had to make a greater sacrifice but it was worth it in the end as she proudly claimed a victory over the sky water.

The next challenge was changing the engine oil by herself. She watched the old mechanic do it a few times and when it came time for her to do it herself it wasn’t easy. The screw put up a tough fight but thanks to some quick thinking from watching a nearby cyclist she was yet again triumphant. We were also treated to Koguma with cute little tails. Speaking of the old mechanic he said Koguma’s engine oil wasn’t crude at all, meaning she drove a little too safely. Further building up to the day she finally shifts into turbo I bet.

The point of all this was for Koguma to broaden her horizons. She got her first ever job, drove the longest distance yet since buying the Super Cub and leveled up some more. It was a fruitful Summer vacation for sure. Once she got 1 1/2 month’s worth of money it was time for the next part of her plan.

We ended the episode with Koguma visiting Reiko at her place. The next episode hints we’ll either see what Reiko did during Summer vacation or start the highly anticipated group trips. Most likely the former with the latter staring in Episode 6.

Good stuff as usual.

The weekly treat of my type of beauty ^^

Koguma’s reactions are so innocent and genuine, whether it’s to a setback or to something she likes. Seeing her open up and become more social and cheerful with the woman from the other school was lovely. And her earning a little money makes me so happy, especially since the story started with her saying that she didn’t have any.

Yay, next week learning more about mysterious Reiko!

As always, it’s nice to see Koguma being cheerful. Still, reminds me of the first time of driving long distance when I first moved 170 miles away. Long distance driving is not too bad, but riding in the rain is. Also, I would never have the courage to change the oil myself.

Still, I wonder what trip Reiko has in mind. I can only wonder.

Another fantastic ep this week. Great to see Koguma getting more comfortable with her Cub and learning how to do repairs and such on it herself. Also nice to see her not as shy anymore and being more sociable too. It’s only been 4 eps but she’s transformed so much already!

Looking forward to seeing what Reiko has planned for the two of them in the coming eps. I’m sure it’ll be an exciting adventure on their Cubs!

I wonder if the old man is Reikos grandfather? I never thought I could have been so entranced in watching someone being a courier. This show just continues to blow away my expectations. I definitely needed something like this after non non biyori ended last season.

I know this is not the right spot but just wanted to mention the amazing last 2 weeks of zombieland saga. It probably wont go any further but was much more then I was expecting with the AixJunko ship. In my head anyway the last 2 made it canon.

Why use email or fax when you can pay a courier to shuffle papers for you every day right 😁

The High school pay her really well, she earns ¥2000 when she uses ¥70 worth of gasoline.
Also, ¥120000 (~1100 USD) will be really useful for her

This really shows how you can do a lot with so little, especially with the dialogue. There are a lot of silent/just music moments but it doesn’t feel out of place at all. Instead it just gives more significance to the dialogue when it’s there as you can see in the “Take that” after she was able to not soak herself in the rain thank to the raincoat she bought.
