We got a glimpse of what the show was all about last time. Now we take some time to learn a little more about what’s going on.
We got even more confirmation the girl in Ruka’s flashback was important. Before meeting her she wasn’t interested in socializing with anyone but we don’t know what happened to the girl yet. Maybe a small hint but nothing major. We also saw the blonde girl, Momo, telling our main duo about Reflectors, a select few could wield the rings and depending on how strong the connection between their feelings and beliefs were they could transform into Reflectors. Their duty was to find and protect Fragments, specific girls who are very troubled, or something like that. Basically someone like Miyako who was going through a lot.
Ruka asked Hiori what she thought about it all and Hiori thought about it for 2 seconds before deciding she’d become a Reflector. Her reason was a strong desire to help people in need, just like her older sister, Mio.
Hiori skipped school to look for Momo and learn more about Reflectors. Momo claimed to have taken the job recently but we know she was one for a while. Hiori agreed to help Momo search for Fragments, aka troubled girls. Also when Hiori introduced herself she recognized the surname Hirahara and once it’s confirmed her older sister’s name was Mio Hirahara she felt it in her heart. As we saw in the prologue Momo and Mio were fellow Reflectors.
Ruka, meanwhile, considered helping Hiori and tried the ring on but nothing happened. As she did so we got a funny scene of Miyako staring at her all day but Ruka not reacting no matter how obvious her calls were. Finally Miyako’s like “I know you don’t care about other people but will you notice me stalking you already?” Her memory about what happened last episode was fuzzy but she could recall her feelings connecting with Hiori’s. She felt Hiori could understand her. She hoped Ruka could fill her in but alas. Miyako again told Ruka she didn’t care about anyone and while trying a crappy mystery juice she’s like “There are things I care about.”
I’m convinced the Red Ring Gang are all disaster gays.
Remember when I said Momo felt it in her heart upon discovering Hiori’s sister was Mio? We cut to the Red Ring Church and, my goodness. The entire scene was sad, hilarious and kinky all at once. I paid close attention to what was said, was turned on and laughed my butt off all at once. It was fantastic.I think Mio is the leader of the Red Ring Gang and she’s all like “We’re the righteous ones. Our cause is just. Do not let the Blue Rings interfere”.
The little girl’s name is Shino. Nina, the grumpy one, worshiped Mio while Uta, Nina’s sadistic kouhai, took pleasure in seeing girls suffer, teasing Nina (Who was as troubled as the Fragments they were after) and being reprimanded by her.
Back to our heroines. Ruka went in search of Hiori because despite her reluctance about the Reflector thing she wanted to help Hiori. Fortunately Hiori found her but because they missed curfew invited Ruka to her place. We learned Hiori lived alone. Mio’s gone, her uncle’s hardly home and her mom disappeared five years ago. It started raining and Hiori wanted to show Ruka something cool. As they basked in the coolness Ruka mentioned the reason she couldn’t become a Reflector was she wasn’t like Hiori. Hiori remembered Momo saying the ring reacted to Ruka so she’d potential. She reminded Ruka of the girl she saw last episode. Were it not for her Hiori wouldn’t have noticed. That’s why Hiori concluded Ruka could connect with people too.
Back with Miyako as she returned home she’s shocked to see her treasures in a trash bag. When asked her mom was like “We threw away the old junk to make room for your brother’s trophies”. Distraught she was consumed by darkness. The red Reflectors got to her first as Hiori tried to fight them herself. Will she be able to rescue Miyako from the Red Ring Gang and will Ruka stand by unable to transform yet? We’ll find out next time.
Good stuff once again.
