OG’s Spring 2021 Anime Picks

By now most readers know the drill. I announce the anime I plan on watching and potentially covering next season and depending on my mood/interest other shows may be added or I remove some.

Picks based on the following charts:

300 Years of Slime Killing

I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level

I honestly don’t have a #1 hype anime this season but 300 Years of Slime Killing is the one I’m most interested in. The last of the “Mega Light Novel anime adaptation announcements” I have a feeling this will be similar to Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear. Should that be the case I’m all for it. As usual I haven’t read the source nor do I want anyone telling me anything about it here.

Zombie Land Saga RevengeZombie Land Saga Revenge

On the one hand I’m excited to see more zombie idol goodness, ESPECIALLY the Yugiri and Best Zombie Tae focused episodes I was denied last season. On the other hand I have a bad feeling the writers want to make the main story all about Sakura and Mr Nice Bird hooking up. Why? Because of a less than 5 second flashback. If it does happen I won’t get pissed, just groan at how predictable it all was. We’ll see what happens.

Yakunare Mug Cup MoSuper CubYakunare Mug Cup Mo and Super Cub

One Girls Club show about pottery and/or ceramics and another that seems to combine cycling and mopeds. Both right up my alley.

Blue Reflection Ray ProtagonistsBLUE REFLECTION RAY

Did not expect a BLUE REFLECTION anime but more than happy one exists. Haven’t got a chance to play the game but from what I gathered it has plenty to work with. Hopefully the anime takes it a step further.

Battle Athletess ReSTART!Battle Athletess Daiundoukai: ReSTART!

At first I thought this was a remake of the Battle Athletes Victory anime but it’s actually set in the distant future with girls who just so happen to look like the OGs. Maybe they’re descendants or it’s a coincidence. In any case I hope there’s yuri to be found here too. Perhaps another love triangle or just two competitors falling in love. Either one works. For readers who never heard of this series it’s basically Women’s Intergalactic Olympics.

Shadows HouseShadows House

Looks neat. Would be interesting if the main ship were indeed the main shadow and her blonde puppet.

There’s also a mixed futbol anime called “Sayonara My Cramer” but it’s most likely het. The wait for a women’s futbol/soccer anime continues.

Leftovers include Tropical Rouge PreCure and Maiko-san chi no Makanai-san.

That’s about it.

About OG-Man

This is basically my planned watchlist, except I’ll still be watching kumo desuga as long as it keeps as greatly entertaining as it’s been.I’m sure I might try out a few others, but yeah.

As for Shadow House…if only they had gone with what Shadow House is a spinoff of….ah well. Hopefully it works out!

and of course i”ll be watching Tropical Rouge Precure!

    • Zack says:

If by Shadow House spinoff, you mean Kuro then there isn’t anything to confirm those two series are in the same universe. Well, besides being by the same author and having some thematic similarities.

That being said, I would love to have gotten a Kuro anime. The manga was really good.

      • cirno9fan says:

Yeah, was talking about Kuro. Just assumed it was a spinoff, I never really read Shadow House, but I read some of Kuro, and it was quite the read.

    • OG-Man says:

Like Zack said there’s nothing that says Kuro and Shadow House are in the same universe.

I’m definitely looking forward to 300 Years of Slime Killing, Zombieland Saga season 2 and Shadows House.

I am so hyped for the I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level anime adaptation. I absolutely adore the light novels, and Aoi Yuuki reprising her role from the drama CD as Azusa is the icing on the top of an already very sweet cake.
As usual, my watchlist is going to be pretty similar to yours.

Looks like another winner. The other four were, including Picnic (So long as viewers aren’t as picky about which chapters were adapted and stuff) so I have a feeling this one will be another great one.

  4. The Game the Battle Athletes franchise was based off of was Het and the main character Akari Kanzaki chose sports over her boyfriend, The game was a Flop and did not sell the LaserActive system for pioneer so the guy who wrote the tie-in manga reinvented the franchise into a yuri franchise.

Slimes: Looking forward to this. Hopefully the anime will finally replace my mental image of Azusa as witch-Kobayashi.

Zombies: Please put Lily and Yugiri being cute together in the foreground.

Pottery: Low priority, but I’ll check it out.

Super Cub: Bike and motorcycle anime haven’t failed me yet.

Blue Reflection Ray: I just bought the game after hearing about the anime. Backlog size increased!

    Shadows House: Could be interesting.

Sayonara My Cramer: The buildup so far looks not-het, so I’ll check it out.

SSSS.Dynazenon: Not really expecting much yuri from this, but Gridman surprised us.

Spider: Spider antics alone are enough to watch this show.

My list is small for the Spring season

Maiko-san (as that carries over from the Winter)
    Blue Reflection Ray
    Super Cub
    Mug Cup

I’ve got a few on the considering list, but I’ll see how they go. Really though I just want to take a season off from new anime and get some other stuff watched. Backlog anime, Netflix and Prime Video shows, just stuff I’ve been putting on hold for ages that needs to be dealt with at some point. Seeing that my list is so small thought I might still watch shows but focus more on the backlog stuff. I don’t know, I’ll figure it out somehow.

Your list looks good though and I’ll be sure to keep an eye on weekly reviews!

Those are four good shows to go for in your lighter Spring anime schedule. I’d recommend adding High-Rise Invasion as it’s a Netflix anime but it’s up to you.

Ah yes, I’ll add that to my watch list so I don’t forget about it. I still need to watch Great Pretender, which is also on Netflix.

Pretty solid spring lineup and definitely looking forward to the slime show the most. I really liked the zombie show but that ending to season 1 has me worried. However I’ll be happy if we just get Ai and Junko. There is so much fan art and even some official art that makes me hopeful.
