Akino’s in a slump after the events of the last episode. Let’s see if she and the others can bounce back.
Like I said Akino’s in rough shape. She couldn’t look her teammates in the eyes despite them trying their best to cheer her up. They didn’t blame her for the loss but she couldn’t forgive herself.
This was the first time I noticed Akino worked at the WIXOSS store. The owner offered to listen to her worries. She considered quitting Diva Battles and the owner said to make her own decision, one that she wouldn’t regret. Later on we would again notice the owner thinking about her past as a Diva. Wonder if she’s the third member of Eternal Girl? We’ll find out when the time comes.
Later Akino logged in and was this close to quitting when Universe’s Beginning spotted her. They gave her sound advice on the Power of Teamwork/Friendship helping her realize that up till now she went with whatever Hirana and Rei decided but it’s time for Akino to make her own decisions.
We would find out during a rematch with Card Jockey that Akino requested to be the Center as the first step to overcome her trauma.
As expected everyone, including Card Jockey, were caught off guard and at first it looked like Akino’s strategy had them on the ropes but at the last second C.J. pulled a “surprise trap card” ala Yu-Gi-Oh and turned the tides, winning the battle. Akino put up a good fight but it wasn’t enough. On the bright side her greatest fear was overcome. She was too proud of her performance to feel humiliated or afraid. She’s more frustrated she lost and that’s good.
The OT3 were back in sync and ready to make their comeback next time. So happy for Akino.
