Wonder Egg Priority Episode 2: Brutal Egg

Now that we know what kind of show we’re looking at here let’s see where it goes next, shall we?

Neiru tells Ai her blunt opinion

We joined Ai right where we left off last episode, intrigued by the beautiful dark skinned girl, Neiru. She suddenly tried to start a conversation as best as she could but no answer. At least, not until Neiru felt like saying something, which was ask Ai what she wanted with the eggs. When Ai said it was to bring back Koito Neiru retorted with a “You want to bring her back so you can clear your conscience of all guilt and self loathing”. When Ai asked “What about you?” she said “I’m not like you. I do it for my sister…who I let die”.

Ai uncomortable around the teacher

After the OP Ai quietly returned home but hid in her shell when she saw the teacher. We’ll find out what her problem is with him another time. I have some theories but for now I’ll keep them to myself. Not important just yet.

Ai whacks a seeno evilMinami thanks Ai

Afterward we saw Ai dancing without a care in a classroom, quickly revealing she’s back in the Silent Egg Zone. She had her fun but got carried away like last time the egg broke, grew and a girl hatched out of it. Ai prepared herself before quickly guiding her to safety. Didn’t take long for the Seeno Evil to come after the new girl, Minami. Ai came prepared this time and whacked the baddies with her Keyblade. However, because she wasn’t a skilled fighter the enemy got a hit on her but she led Minami to a door to the school roof.

Ai checking Minami out

Common folk would look at Ai admiring Minami’s fit figure as a sign of respect but we the cultured know exactly what she’s doing.

There the two introduced themselves. Ai told Minami her goal and she admired Ai for her forwardness and honesty while she considered herself shy. She practiced gymnastics and always followed the rules but one day felt like being a bit daring, by coming to gym class a little later than usual. However, she pulled an all-nighter and ended up missing class entirely. She got brutally scolded by her coach.

As Ai swore to protect Minami till they found a way out a familiar disembodied voice(s) chimed in (probably belonged to the two Slendermen in the Safe Space), telling her it wasn’t enough to escape but they had to defeat the Wonder Killer, aka Minami’s trauma.

Minami's Wonder Killer-Trauma

Of course her trauma was her coach. Ai was about to fight but Minami told her to stand down. When the Wonder Killer revealed her true form she went for it anyway but got whacked.

Koito asks Ai for video evidence

We saw more of her time with Koito. This time of her being bullied for ” bully reasons”. Pick one. She had the idea of Ai hiding in the class locker and film the bullies harassing her but Ai’s too scared to watch…

Ai vs Minami's Wonder Killer

As she regretted her failure she headed for the gym and saw Minami taking the Wonder Killer’s abuse. Refusing to fail again Ai kept on coming no matter how many times the trauma swatted her. She realized Minami wanted someone to pity and love her regardless of how rough it was.

Ai about to beat the Wonder Killer

Ai’s Keyblade wasn’t enough. She then picked up Minami’s ribbon to fight a trauma with a traumatized person’s weapon. Suddenly she was blinded by what I assume was goop from the WK’s bottom breasts (She had four) but kept fighting with Minami’s guidance. Ai figured out the coach used excuses to justify her tough love on Minami and was like “Screw you old fart!” as she landed the final blow. Minami finally got the message and kinda stood up to the trauma as Ai destroyed her. Sadly like last time Minami disappeared leaving a miffed Ai denied another pretty girl to hang out with.

Ai visits a hospitalized Neiru

Also like last time Ai went to the hospital where she was surprised to see Neiru taken to an operating room. Ai wanted to use the next Wonder Egg to help her but the Slendermen made her wonder if she wanted to be helped. Even so she visited her to have a talk once she’s out. She couldn’t stay long as Neiru’s mom made her leave.

Neiru smelled the orange drink

Once they finally met up it looked like Ai got through to her a bit. We may find out more next time. Another pretty good episode.

  1. Seriously, all the girls in this show are gorgeous, I can’t blame Ai at all for checking them all out. She seems like a baby gay who’s slowly finding her confidence to grow into the fearless lesbian I believe she may become. I’m really loving how they are interweaving the past and present, revealing a bit of the events leading up to Koito’s death and explaining why Ai is so motivated to change now. I’m thinking about what may have gone down with the teacher too, but like you, I’ll hold on to those theories until they are revealed. This show has such a nice blend of creepy moments and cute moments. It’s turning out to be one of the most interesting shows for me this season so far. I hope it’ll continue to be and I look forward to more.

The important part, is not that she was afraid of getting seen recording them, she was afraid of being outcasted because of calling out the bullying. It was a case of, she was happy to not be the one being bullied for once. This was hinted at pretty strongly in the first episode, but here it was hinted at even stronger. Ye olde story of person is bullied, new person shows up and tries to defend said person, new person gets bullied, old person ignores it to stay “safe”.

I’m thinking the two of them might have more in common than Neiru thinks. Another wonderful episode~

I don’t understand who the persons who come out of the eggs are. Are they dead people? Are they alive? Why are they in the eggs? I’m confused, do you have any theories/explanations?

      No explanation yet.

my theory only: i think they are dead people, each being a statue in her own “dead zone”, like how Koito is a statue on the school roof, where Ai goes to multiple times in order to “save” her.

Last episode states that Kurumi is “a sculpture in some world. And unless her friends go to that world, she’ll stay that way forever” (ep. 1, 21:20). Kurumi somehow pops out of Ai’s egg in Koito’s dead zone, and needs to be protected from her trauma (by Ai). We don’t know if this is a one time thing, or she’ll pop out of other eggs again in other girls’ dead zones.

To extrapolate, I’d think Koito may also “hatch” in some other girl’s egg in that girl’s friend’s dead zone, and needs to be protected from harm there as well. Finally, whether a successfully “brought back” girl actually comes back to live, or if there’s a different form of salvation hasn’t been revealed yet. Interesting to see where the story goes.

I think you may be right. But I wonder what happens if someone isn’t able to protect the person who comes out of the egg.

It’s possible you hit the nail in the head. We’ll find out in due time.

I agree with this and I wanted to add that I think a person has to be saved multiple times because the girl from the first episode clearly went though it more than once. Judging from her first comment (why did you break it in a place like this) and in general all the information she had that was not her first time going through it.
For this episode’s girl though it was clearly the first time given her initial confusion.
As for if the the girl that are saved are actually brought back I highly doubt it but we’ll have to wait and see on that.

Really enjoying this show after 2 eps. It’s caught my interest very much and I’m excited to see what’s going to happen next.

Another great ep this week as Ai has another intense adventure protecting another girl.

“Common folk would look at Ai admiring Minami’s fit figure as a sign of respect but we the cultured know exactly what she’s doing.” Yes. Also, still hope we get a show about cute girls doing gymnastics at some point.

Nice to see Ai and Neiru warming up to each other at the end of the ep. That smile is so cute.

Can’t wait for more next week!

    Another amazing episode.
The OP was very calm, it almost felt more like a typical ED. Still good though.
Props to the character designer because all the girl look really good (even the other main ones that we have yet to see)
I love that Ai for being a shut it she can also be cheerful when she talks to the girls in the egg dimension.
That was some “interesting” design for the Wonder KIller.
The action scene against the Wonder Killer was so cool.
Looking forward to meeting the other girls.

The only thing that left me a bit perplexed are the injuries. At the end of the last episode I just assumed that the scene where she went down and met Neiru was a dream and she was still in the hospital bed with her injuries since it looked pretty bad but I guess she’s fine? I don’t know how she could recover from those injuries so quickly. Either they are not as bad as the one she received in the dream or a long time actually passed between the dreams. I don’t know but I’m willing to let it slide for now.

“they are not as bad as the one she received in the dream” that would be my guess. Otherwise Ai’s mom probably wouldn’t let her running around wild after mysteriously losing a kidney overnight 😀
