We are back again with the surprise return of the gay horsies. Would they retain the same level of intense competition and, more importantly, yuri power from last time? Let us find out.
We kicked things off with a flashback of an adorable Tokai Teio pony watching her heroine Symboli Rudolph in awe as she became a Triple Crown Champion. The young Tokai aspired to one day become as awesome as her heroine.
Back in the present we got a Team Spica roll call starting with the two new leads of the show, Tokai Teio and Mejiro McQueen.
Yup. Everyone’s back. Wait. Is someone missing? Hmm.
Satono Diamond and Kitasan Black.
Always nice seeing new ponies. Plus these two will play important roles this season based on the trailer. They were given a tour as more familiar side-horses appeared around the academy. I wonder if the one screaming another horse’s praises down a familiar stump will go somewhere later? At the end of the tour Black and Diamond professed their huge fangirl power for their respective guides. As Teio saw her young self in Black she wished both ponies the best of luck.
I knew I forgot someone. She better not be absent for most of the season. Come back to Japan and don’t spend all season competing in Murica unless we get an episode of you training over there.
I mentioned this when I added S2 to my Watchlist. Keep Teio pining for Rudolph and don’t break up Gold McQueen. Pretty please with sugar on top?
The main raivarus of the season.
After a training montage it was time for Teio’s big race for the Double Crown.
Teio ran a strategic race, picked her spot and tapped into the Speed Force for the win!
All seemed well as Teio channeled her inner Rudolph.
However, this was only Episode 1 and things couldn’t go swimmingly. Otherwise this would be a short season so the writers were like “Let’s throw in another injury angle”. We’ll see where that goes next time.
Good premiere. Looking forward to more.
It was only when watching this fantastic premiere that I realized how much I missed our adorable gay horse girls!
Those little horse girls were adorable!
So many background comedy this episode!
Great to see Team Rigil again.
I missed these characters. I even missed the trainer/manager, being that I was one of those who were not bothered by him and actually liked him.
I missed are tsundere/bickering/rival couple!
But more then anything I missed Best Girl Gold Ship! God how I missed her greatness! And yes keep Gold McQueen!
The song at the end was rocking!
With Dropout Idol Fruit Tart done this is a great anime to watch on Mondays! And I’ll probably check out the other 2 anime later.
Can’t wait for more!

The Gay Horsies are back and very much welcome!
As I said in the Ep2 reply he’s cool, just the leg thing annoyed the cultured.

Everyone is as charming as always. Cute Special Week (I hope that her pretty, kind girlfriend Suzuka returns soon to cuddle with her), energetic adorable Teio, the unimitable Gold Ship, sex bomb Scarlet with her rival, and the cool girlish beauty McQueen that just begs to be teased a little. I like the choice of focus characters.
I really liked the twintail brunette cutie at the cafeteria, and the little horses were so lovely. I ship them together when they get a little older ^^
I also missed the way the girls cry “I can’t” when they’re overtaken on the race track, it’s so silly and cute ^^

Great to have everyone back, yes. Plus the new horsies all look wonderful and hopefully as gay as our main gay horsies.

Should be fun to see what stories they can tell with Teio and McQueen after the injury angle.

It’s nice to have the horse girls back. Still, I didn’t expect Teio’s to look up to Rudolph. Still, it’s good that she is closer to achieving her dream, but she is really close to having a Suzuka like disaster from that possible injury. I hope someone tell her to have that checked out.
Also, I find it silly how Gold Ship rides on a Segway. Then again, she is a prankster after all. I hope that Suzuka will come back at some point.

Teio’s a huge Rudolph fangirl in S1, remember?
Yup. Don’t drag out her injury.
Gold Ship is a treasure. Plus she’s smart. Saving up her energy for races. No need to walk when it’s not necessary.
Yup. Come back soon Suzuka.
