We wrap up the speed training and get set for the big competition.
When we last left Konomi she was shocked to see another climber complete the speed course in record time. She tried approaching her for tips and was surprised how easy it was. The cutie in question was Mimu Takahashi, another girl with a cat motif. That’s three now.
Basically the secret to Mimu’s technique was timing perfected by playing rhythm games. Konomi, while proficient at puzzle games quickly adapted to the technique.
Thanks to her new knowledge and extra training she’s able to achieve her goal of under 15 seconds despite not beating than Ooba in a race.
After the training camp officially ended Konomi went to thank Mimu for the pointer when she noticed the logo on her jacket. She was on Kurusu’s team and they’d face each other in the tournament. At least this kitty seemed nicer than her captain.
Meanwhile Nono had, in her words, hardcore training from Captain Sayo. I believe her.
In a cute surprise Kiku joined the team to help with some last minute training. She’s surprised to see Nono and Jun, who didn’t do well in the last tournament, perform leaps and bounds better here. As Sayo explained they both worked hard to overcome their flaws, Jun with her improved focus and Nono finding ways around her shortness, creating a spider and frog hybrid style. However, as she proudly praised her team’s improvements she seemed to be concerned about something. Nono noticed but Sayo dodged the subject when asked about it.
The next day Sayo showed off her awesomeness. However, while very impressive Nono again noticed something was wrong. She took her to the back for a serious talk.
When I first began watching this show I thought it’d either be about the growing relationship between Konomi X Jun or a Konomi harem. I did not expect the best couple to be Nono X Captain Sayo. Well, they are longtime friends turned sweethearts so it shouldn’t be surprising. Anyway Nono pushed Sayo until she confessed her hand hadn’t fully recovered yet and knew pushing herself could put her climbing career in great jeopardy but she wanted to take the risk so she could compete with everyone. She didn’t want to disappoint her team, especially Nono, and the two were close to graduating high school from the looks of it. Nono leapt toward Sayo bawling her eyes out telling her not to throw away her dream. She would take over as team captain and lead their kouhai to championship gold. Sayo accepted teary eyed herself.
Looks like Bad Kitty’s done bullying newbs and focused on beating our heroines fair and square.
Kiku’s adorable. Although she couldn’t compete due to her not being a student at their school they happily accepted her as part of the team. Maybe she’ll enroll there before Konomi and Jun graduate.
Not much to add about the Royal Rumble so far other than the main obstacle for our heroines being Team Kurusu. I don’t know whether this will be a 12 or 13 episode show, meaning next time will either be the G-View or discussing the first part of the Royal Rumble. We shall see.
