OG’s Fall 2020 Anime Picks

Summer 2020 was barren when it came to anime to discuss here. There were certainly enjoyable shows here and there but when it came to shows with strong consistent yuri vibes, barely any. We had to turn to Western animation to get a little more yuri goodness. Not so in Fall 2020. AS LONG AS THERE ARE NO DELAYS it is a STACKED season. Life permitting I will be plenty to talk about from October-January. As always there can be changes to my watchlist.

Picks based on the following charts:

Before we begin, no Manga/Light Novel spoilers. Not one word.

Fall 2020 Yuri Lineup

Must Watch

First up is Adachi and Shimamura. It looks like another slow burn romance, which is fine as long as the journey is consistently interesting.

Assault Lily: Bouquet. Another show about cute and sexy armored babes training to fight against alien invaders, monsters or whatever the “Huge” are. Plus it’s picked up by SHAFT, meaning viewers will pay close attention to the amount of SHAFT-tilting on the show. Hopefully there will be more than in the first half of the Magia Record anime.

Not much to say regarding GochiUsa 3 and Strike Witches 3: Road to Berlin. It’s more cute and sexy “coffee bunny maids” in the former and “flying kemonomimi soldiers fighting alien invaders but refuse to wear pants” in the latter. Be sure to watch the first two seasons, specials of each show and the SW Movie to get caught up.

D4DJ. We don’t know much about the anime yet but we were assured it’ll premiere in October. Hopefully a trailer pops up sometime in September. For now gay DJs (disc jockeys) coming after gay school idols and gay bands. Nuff said.

Dropout Idol Fruit Tart and Maesetsu! One is another idol anime but not quite and the other may be something like Joshiraku. Either way I’m very interested in both.

Journey of Elaina: From what I gathered it’s Kino’s Journey but with yuri. Of course it’ll be more than that but that’s a good enough to get hyped.

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear. Isekai starring a teenage girl in a bear pajamas who forms a pseudo-loli harem or something like that. Most of the girls aren’t infants so that’s a good sign. Plus bears rule as everyone on this blog knows.

Sport Climbing Girls! Show about sexy fit and muscle babes competing in professional wall climbing. Hopefully there will be some extreme mountain climbing too. One day my dream “all-female bodybuilding” sports anime will become a reality. Until then this will more than suffice.

Warlords of Sigrdrifa

Warlords of Sigrdrifa. According to someone I know the director is not yuri friendly. That may be the case but I’ll be the judge of that. From the trailers shown this has the potential to be another “Magnificent Kotobuki”. Hopefully we don’t get screwed for no good reason.

Burn the Witch

Art source HERE

Burn the Witch: There’s a yuri yandere somewhere in the story. From what I gathered it is a manga project whose first animated presentation will be a movie. Whether this will lead to future TV anime remains to be seen. I don’t imagine the show will be super yuri but at least a really fun watch based on the trailer and manga prologue.

Inuyasha Jr and the Higurashi 2020 I want to watch by myself with no distractions whatsoever.

So much to look forward to in this season! The light novel adaptations are my most anticipated shows: Adachi and Shimamura, Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear and Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina.
Can’t wait to see Burn the Witch, either.

After the recent drought, this season is a god-send.
Though a part of me thinks spreading them out might be a good thing considering theres nothing in the seasons past the upcoming one.

Warlords of Sigrdrifa has been on my radar since it debuted but I’ve yet to be committal on it, always had this feeling.
Theres a random blonde dude in one of the posters too, yuri-bait could be at hand.

Speaking of yuri-bait, in the most recent Burn the Witch visual theres a semi-camouflaged dragon carrying some random dude.
Im guessing thats the audience avatar, main perspective, and love triangle axis.

    Hope Im wrong.

From a drought to a flood!

    Adachi: Yuri. Nuff said.

Combat Yuri: Name definitely intrigues me.

Gochiusa 3 when? Fall 2020. Season 4 when?

Dropout: One step closer to cute girls doing NEET things.

Elaina: Already started the novel on this, and I like it so far.

    UnBEARable: I’m in.

Climbing: Sure. Oh, can we get mountains season 4 please?

Rail Romanesque: I’ll see if they drop the notable flaw from the VN.

Other stuff: Enough listed that I’m not sure on or has previous seasons I haven’t seen yet.

Question what made you think the director of Warlords of Sigrdrifa is anti yuri?

  7. Jack Cactus says:

Adatsi to Shimamu indeed is a slowburn romance so I expect it to be good just like the manga, Adachi’s road to Shimamura’s heart is a slow and arduous journey so I assume a lot will find her relatable.

Assault Lily: Bouquet has amazing thighs man, hope we’ll get to see them in full glory.

Also, Machikado Mazoku SS2 has been announced and will probably air next season as well.

I’m Most excited for Burn the Witch! Its created by the one who made my All Time Favorite Anime/Manga Bleach! So I was always going to watch it. (Also reading the manga.) So excited for the Bleach anime to return!

As for the others I’ll keep an eye on them, but definitely going to watch Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear. Read a few of the manga chapters of it and its definitely going to be a cute adventure!

All the yuri and cuteness that has accumulated, pent up during the summer, is going to explode out spectacularly ^^

I would be overjoyed just for Gochiusa season 3, the story of gay adorable café maids who refuse to wear panties… wait, I mixed up what you wrote – but thinking more carefully, I’m certain that Rize goes commando, which means that Maya must as well, and Cocoa for sure does it too, the seductress that she is ^^

I’m also especially looking forward to Adachi and Shimamura and Journey of Elaina. All the rest will be pleasant surprises.

Definitely the most packed season, so I won’t be able to cover everything, which is in despite I am still working at home until this pandemic is over. Definitely watching Assault Lilly, Fruit Tart, Gochuumon 3rd Season and Kuma Bear and covering them.

As for the other shows, not sure I will have time to cover them, but we’ll see, but it most likely end up on my backlog.

Wow we need all fingers to count this time, and that’s just the must watches. This is a good season. I might end up saving a show or two for later, considering someone mentioned that after fall season there may not be any yuri for a while.
