22/7 Episode 10: The Moping Episode

The previous Post-ED ended on an unjust cliffhanger. Let’s take a look at the fallout of The Wall’s most bizarre order yet.

Nicole is pissed

Nicole is pissed.

Not counting the OP the first 10 minutes were spent moping. Our heroines were naturally confused by The Wall’s outta nowhere order for the group to disband. Gorilla Goda showed some anger but was like “Our company’s purpose is to follow The Wall’s orders. We shall do so to the end”. Slowly the project began shutting down. Around the 8 minute mark was the day the group publicly announced their disbandment. In short the girls were to follow scripts that were best summed up saying “We’re sorry” as the press lambasted them for not giving a proper explanation. Of all the girls Nicole was the most enraged by the decision. She’s a ticking time bomb ready to explode.

22-7 sad moment

More sadness.

Twitter going ablaze, basically Twitter being Twitter. Having a hard time saying goodbye to their dorm and idol life. Wondering what went wrong. “Fans will forget about us in no time”. “I wish we could go back to before this all happened”.

Yup. Next scene.

Nicole helping Miu hide

Nicole helping Miu hide from reporters.

Miu moped some more when reporters recognized her and tried getting a scoop. Luckily Nicole was hiding nearby.

Miu and Nicole discussing something

Let’s go over this scene. Miu asked what was next for Nicole. She said a new company may hire her. Nicole then asked why Miu joined the team. We were reminded of the speech “Adults suck (Her dad most likely being the reason) so I joined to get experience preparing myself to become an annoying adult by doing stuff that makes me uncomfortable” That and earn money to support her family. Nicole’s response was something like “Kids can suck too. It all depends how you live your life. Sucky adults are just grown up sucky kids”. Before leaving she had one last question, “What’s the thing most precious to you?” Miu didn’t know. She’ll find her answer in the coming two episodes for sure.

More moping with the rest of our heroines returning home or in Sakura’s case about to return home.

So this was the obligatory sad episode. You know the one. It’s like in movies where the hero/es is/are on a role but suddenly they hit rock bottom before finding the motivation to make an epic comeback.

Young Nicole

The next episode is the one we thought we’re getting this week, the Nicole episode. Depending on what happens I’ll either be cool or go on a long winded angry rant. We’ll see.

I guess this will make for an exciting comeback in the final few eps, or they’ll throw everyone for a loop and stick with this until the end. Would this count as deconstructing the genre? As much as I absolutely hate using that term.

Moping ep indeed. So many unanswered questions, so much confusion, anger, sadness, I feel bad for the girls as they really loved being idols so this is a huge blow for all of them.

Shocking after credit scene, Nicole and Miu knew each other from long ago? I guess Miu doesn’t remember, but Nicole sure does. Even more questions now! Looking forward to next week.

I am very interested to see how it all ends for sure.

Let’s hope their comeback will be an amazing one. They hit quite the low this episode after all.

I am admittedly intrigued to learn their connection.

I get the feeling they’d pull the time loop twist on us and introduce the three “Hidden Gems”.

  3. Oh man. this ep we have a lot of fanboy RAGE!
While in part it is understandable since no clear statement was given I suppose.

I think the most obvious solution here would be to give the Wall the middle finger and just reform 22/7 out of their own volition.

This episode was a waste of time thanks to them ruining it from the very start. Not to mention a thing they announced that also ruins it. Thanks for nothing anime director.
Anyway, I know what the rant’ll be. And it’ll likely be coming. Guess even this show can’t escape the Medan.

A big comeback is very likely. If I remember correctly on the OP scene they’re all in different places but finding each other. As I say in my previous comment what intrigued me the most this idol anime is that they keep us guessing every week. I’ve watched a lot of idol anime, I know the usual rhythm. But this I don’t get. In a good way. I just wanna say whatever happened it’s not gonna change anything for me. I can’t ignore the last 10 or 9 episodes. This is like the last episode of Zombieland Saga all over again. Unless they decided to make season 2 my mind’s made up.
