When we last left our heroines they had found the Seance Shrine. Yachiyo and Iroha wrote names of people they were searching for and immediately saw them. However, all was not what it seemed.
First up was Iroha reuniting with “Ui”. Creepy Ui was creepy.
Yachiyo and “Mifuyu”s “reunion” was less creepy, instead using light seduction.
Iroha, having no connection to Mifuyu, could see the trickster’s true form as the two engaged in combat. The trickster was a tough opponent, using Mifuyu’s fighting style. She had Iroha cornered but Yachiyo throwing caution to the wind killed the faker. She was understandably shaken.
Yachiyo took her Grief Seed to absorb the darkness in her Soul Gem but Iroha used hers instead.
Tsuruno joined up with the two when the lord of the labyrinth attacked. Another battle ensued but even Yachiyo’s attacks weren’t enough to beat it. Iroha again tried to help her stronger allies. It ended as well as you’d expect. The shock of seeing the creepy Ui imposter hit her hard, greatly poisoning her Soul Gem.
Oh dear. Iroha’s Witch form awakened. I don’t think she’ll suffer the same fate as Sayaka, mainly because it didn’t involve a useless guy. The labyrinth master attacked Iroha but was quickly and brutally disposed of. After the labyrinth’s destruction Witch Iroha wasn’t done feeding.
My best guess is Iroha wasn’t fully consumed by the darkness yet hence why Mami’s blast freed her instead of disintegrating.
As we recall in her post-ED debut Mami’s investigating the mysterious magical girl gathering Witches and other Mahou Shoujo at Kamihama to get as many Grief Seeds as possible. She interrogated the three until Yachiyo was able to convince her to back off. Before departing she warned Tsuruno to not trust her. Which of the two could she have meant, Yachiyo or Iroha?
Iroha had another dream about Ui possibly saying everything the impostor said in the labyrinth. More questions indeed.
Yachiyo seems to be on a similar quest as Iroha searching for Mifuyu who was forgotten by everyone but her. We’ll see where that goes when the time comes.
The Post-ED scene left me with even more questions I won’t speculate on.
