22/7 Episode 2: The Wall Says Know Your Damn Role

While the premiere had us asking questions it also grabbed the attention of many. Let’s find out if this next episode gave us a better idea on what to expect.

Nicole stretching

Nicole may be an uptight stick in the mud but she’s undeniably sexy. Most of them are attractive with some being more adorable.

When we last left the girls they had just received the first order from The Wall (who I thought was named 22/7 but that’s the name of the group). The Wall’s first order of business was to test the girls and see what they’re made of. Like last time most of the girls questioned taking orders from a magic wall while Nicole didn’t question it.

Miu in her idol outfit

Miu in her 22/7 outfit.

Miu still questioned why she was there after trying on her dress.

Nicole questioning Miu

Nicole questioning Miu.

After getting a text from her mom she was sneak attacked by Nicole who was like “You run off then come back at the last minute talking trash about idols and wanting to join up because you wanted experience doing something you disliked. What job must be so bad you came here for ‘hate practice’? If I were you I’d get out of here and not waste everyone’s time”.

Miu's turn

Miu’s turn to be judged.

It was time for the girls to show their stuff. Reika was up first. She seemingly got an okay score. The others got similar scores, until Miu who, being shy and pessimistic didn’t do so well. In short it wasn’t a surprise that Nicole aced the test. However…

Nicole questioning The Wall

The Wall says Miu is the center.

After that surprise decision by The Wall THEN Nicole started questioning the whole magic wall stuff. It’s understandable. Naturally everyone thought Nicole would be picked for Center so their shocked reactions were valid.

Sakura supports Miu

Sakura’s like “I got your back babe”.

The others wondered why Miu was picked when she hardly sang but Sakura was cool with the idea.

Miu briefly considering another job

Miu briefly considering another job.

Despite Sakura’s support Miu wasn’t ready to be the Center at all. She skipped two days of practice, briefly considered getting another part-time job (This one away from customers) and still hadn’t told her mom she got fired. The 22/7 gang wondered what would happen if she didn’t return. Sakura was like “I got this”.

Miu and Sakura at the Park

Miu and Sakura at the park. Also #Symbolism.

Sakura was either born and/or raised in Murica. They briefly chatted about stuff. A few seconds of silence later and:

Sakura: Well, see ya.

Miu: Huh? You’re not here to take me back to 22/7?

Sakura: I was but seeing how uncertain you were I didn’t want to push you. Y’know, I was unsure about whether I wanted to become an idol too. But then I saw how badass you were that evening and my heart skipped a beat. I was like “What other gifts did this sexy beast bless me with?”. So whatever you decide to do know that we’ll be okay.

Miu: Sakura wait.

(Notice more symbolism while Sakura expressed herself to Miu (half and half) along with Miu stepping out of the shadow for her.)

Sakura loves Miu

She really is Miu’s Kotori. How wonderful.

Reika Sato and Ayaka

Please have Reika hook up with either Ayaka or Akane! Yes I’m biased because they’re my Top 3 sexy babes and I want two of them to become a couple.

So everyone but Nicole followed Sakura and were hoping Miu would come back (Not just because they wanted the group to continue). Afterward Miu got some nice surprises. The first was her paycheck working at 22/7. For the time being she thought “Hmm. Maybe I don’t need to tell Mom just yet”.

Gang happy Miu's back

Gang happy Miu’s back.

Miu X Sakura

The 2nd surprise.

Miu’s thinking “I think I got a girlfriend”.

Oh yes. There was one more thing Miu had to take care of.

Miu stepping up to Nicole

Miu stepping up to Nicole.

Miu was like “I wasn’t lying when I said I didn’t think highly of idols. I know you don’t like me and I’m not confident in becoming a good Center…but I want to try. I want to do my best and show you I can be a great one worthy of your respect!” Like the first episode Nicole showed was a tiny bit impressed by Miu’s forwardness but being a sourpuss she was like “Hmm. Whatever”. The episode ended with Miu’s Mom receiving a familiar letter. Looks like Miu will be in for yet another surprise very soon.

Still a very interesting show.

Sakura x Miu as main yuri couple confirmed. Very early – and serious – love confession for a yuri idol anime, but the earlier the cuter the better.

The candy scene of the two youngest is also very cute and their ship is sailing, too.

I didn’t expect such a direct confession from that adorable puffball Sakura! And clearly Miu didn’t either. This season has such a degree of cuteness and sexiness that I’m finding it impossible to pick favourites from the shows or characters.

The little scene of the girls on their chairs on the side, looking disappointed and confused, somehow made me like all of them in their vulnerability. And I’m so happy that it made them bond together so much. Seeing them look after each other and arrive together the next day was heartwarming.

But the Wall is still standing there. I love this part of watching a show, where you have no idea if it’s going to be all right or not. I hope no one dies or disappears, last of all Miu’s new soft sweetheart.

All that said, regardless of Nicole’s temperament, I can’t help but to love her. To me she’s sexy goddess #1, especially after her song.

That’s a good thing. It means many good shows airing this season.

They’re on their way to becoming a great team.

And yet Meduka Meguca scares you.

Chicks dig bad girls, especially hot ones.

Well, it seems that Sakura is the heart of the group and the vital key to group cohesion. You don’t gather almost all of the group to watch your attempt to convince Miu to come back, without an ability to win others to your side. It is her intercession that probably would make the group an actual group, as opposed to a bunch of individuals. I imagine that her absence could easily spark a future crisis down the line.

Mad probs to Miu’s Seiyuu for deliberately selling the botched audition. It is difficult for a trained vocalist to sing “badly”, but Miu does a very convincing rendition of poor singing and non-existent stage presence.

On the other hand, Nicole’s Seiyuu was apparently parachuted in after the retirement of her previous Seiyuu for health reasons. I’d say it’s quite a gamble to designate to the audience she is 22/7’s best vocalist, given that the vocals of her audition, while competent was far from amazing, even by the standards of Seiyuu Idol-dom.

After watching the Judgement, I realized, everyone except Nicole is a newbie like Miu. Miu just needs some confidence. I gotta say Nicole was really harsh but she’s not wrong. I’m disappointed when Miu runaway again. I mean after that speech she made last week. Then again if she’s never done that, we’ll never get to see Sakura confession. It was so sweet. I want more. It’s time for real idol stuff. Also, I think Miu and the wall are related somehow.

Miu is the kind of girl who has a lot of pent up frustration but not enough resolve to back it up as we saw this episode. Hopefully she’ll become stronger with her girlfriend and teammates’ help.

As you said it’s thanks to Miu still lacking confidence that we got the magical moment that was Sakura’s confession.

Can’t blame Nicole. She had every right to be upset throughout the episode. A bit harsh but we get where she came from.

The Wall is so mysterious, which is the point.

the voice actress for Sakura is lesbian and she probably wanted her character to be gay.

The drama continues with this show, but as different as it is, I’m liking it so far. Nice to have an idol show doing something kinda new like this with a mysterious wall giving orders.

Nicole’s got nice legs, noticed that while she was stretching. Like you said, she;’s by far one of the most attractive girls in the group although her personality could use a little work. Maybe she’ll come around later on down the line.

Loved the Miu and Sakura scene in the park at the end. 2 eps in and these two are a couple already. Good stuff. Also, so much hand holding!!!

Looking forward to seeing where this show goes next, although I might be a little behind if I decide to switch to another sub group for this one. I feel like music oriented shows really should have all the songs and such subbed. Just another weird thing I have when it comes to anime. Oh well. We’ll see how it goes from here.

The Magic Wall gives orders, you follow.

I’d say 3/4th of the group are sexy. You already know who is my #1.

Nicole is a “Stick up her ass” character so I imagine she’ll lighten up eventually.

Sakura’s boldness was a welcome surprise. Nice to see an established couple already.

      Hopefully you’ll stick around.
