Oshi ga Budoukan Ittekuretara Shinu Episode 1: Ultra Hardcore Idol Stan

The wait is over. The premiere of the love story of a lower rank idol and her uber hardcore stan begins NOW! (If Funimation can use “stan” in their subs so can I)

Maina

Maina.

Eripiyo Forever Changed

“Eripiyo”.

We begin our story one fateful day with our leading lady “Eripiyo” (as she would soon be known). She was approached by two members of Cham Jam inviting her to check out their show. She had heard of the awesome might of idols but after Cham Jam finished their song one member stole her heart, Maina.

From that day a legend was born in the idol community: A Maina fan so devoted, so hardcore she was both admired and feared. Only one could equal her power.

Kumasu, the #1 Reo fan. The 3rd guy is a fan of Sorane.

Maina and Sorane.jpg

Maina and Sorane.

Maina and Sorane were promoting their show when “the legend” approached. Maina skedaddled. This had been going on for a while. Eripiyo was so devoted to Maina she bought all her merch, made sure she was first in line at meet and greets, got front row seats, the works.

Maina not wanting to be near Eripiyo.jpg

Maina seemed to not want to be near her. Eripiyo obviously noticed and it hurt but her devotion was so strong all she cared about was her favorite idol succeeding. Also Maina’s signature color was “Salmon Pink”. This was brought up a lot throughout the episode, mainly “Of all the colors to represent her WHY GIVE HER SUCH A WEIRD ONE!?”

Maina’s fellow Cham Jam teammates.

On to the Cham Jam concert. The song was a catchy roll call as the girls introduced themselves and their quirks. Our heroine of course waited for her beloved’s turn. When it came…

Eripiyo Geyser.jpg

Eripiyo Geyser!

This was no ordinary “ha ha nosebleed”.

Eripiyo Good to go.jpg

Eripiyo “good to go”.

Her devotion was so strong she didn’t care about her physical well being. Again, all that mattered was Maina.

Cute Employee.jpg

A mix of respect and pity.

Such a lovely woman. I hope she’s a recurring character.

It was time for the handshake. Though in rough shape she didn’t want to miss it. As usual she got to be in front. However, Maina sadly had less fans than her peers so she would not have had to wait long. My guess is probably a mix of Eripiyo hogging all her merch and her not being as interesting to fans. Anyway as Maina was about to shake Eripiyo’s hand she noticed it was still bloody. Not wanting to sully her beloved’s perfection she had the following killer line.

Eripiyo’s killer line.

Maina wanted to tell her something but time ran out and she changed her mind.

At the next concert there was a worrying announcement but Eripiyo’s focus was elsewhere (so was mine admittedly).

Eripiyo's mind elsewhere.jpg

Me too Eripiyo.

What Kumasu and the others heard was the next Cham Jam fan event would be a limited access one so they and Eripiyo would have to be there really early to not miss out.

Eripiyo struggling with the heat.jpg

Struggling with the heat.

OF COURSE this had to be one of the hottest days of the year so our heroes suffered but did their best to persevere.

Eripiyo not worthy.jpg

Eripiyo not worthy.

(Hopefully my professional cameraman will recover soon and is checking out this show. That way we can relish a pic of all Cham Jam cuties in their Summer dresses.)

After the show it was time for the photo op but Eripiyo was really sweaty and smelly. She didn’t want to sully her beloved. Viewers could see the disappointment in Maina.

Eripiyo's Galactic Love.jpg

Eripiyo’s galactic love.

Eripiyo knew how hardcore she was and she was weird at times but again what mattered most to her was Maina’s success, specifically her performing at Budokan. If that were to happen she could die happy…like in the title.

Maina's true feelings.jpg

Maina’s true feelings.

Meanwhile Maina revealed to viewers the reason she distanced herself from Eripiyo was because her true feelings went beyond “Thank you for being such a loyal fan”.

Yeah. The wait was totally worth it. I need more. My thoughts on the guys? They’re fine. Neither of them seem to be an obstacle as they have their own idols to worship. Also if the OP is any indication there are other female stans.

As always no manga spoilers.

Hell yea, the wait is finally over.

While the majority is enraptured by the cute idol girls, my heart really goes out to Eripiyo. The hardcore stan herself is arguably just as gorgeous if not more than the stage idols, who’s with me on this front?

Now Maina, time to reciprocate Eripiyo’s gay with the your own gay within the heart.

If Maina and Eripiyo can “get along” at the end of the season, I’d die

Also, the rules prohibited idols from having boyfriends but they never said anything about idols having girlfriends 🙂

It is as good – after one episode still hard to tell – as in the trailers.

The idols are cute and Eri x Maina could become one of the top yuri couples of the year and it – the yuri year 2020 – has only just begun.

Oh, the author of the manga actually makes yuri before, even though a bit inconclusive but it mean she what she is doing

My big worry is that Funimation will localize the show and change the context of the relationship.

They’ve mostly been good, but occasionally you get something like Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid where they wrote out the subtext in the dub.

OP is cute and characters are so likable. I want more of this series already. More importantly Eripiyo x Maina is ship that must be sailed.

    Man this show is gorgeous!

Eripyon is pretty fantastic. Also props to her voice actress.

    Looking forward to more.

Loved the premiere. I’ve been rewatching it ten times already. While Eripiyo is so honest and direct. Maina is very, very shy and timid. She can’t talk freely like the other members because she’s too too shy and nervous. This is what people call the opposites attract. I want to see an episode solely from Maina’s point of view. Maybe next week (?). The other members are cute. And yes, the guys are still fun to watch. Also, I like the staff lady. I’m sure she’ll be around for the rest of the show. I can’t wait to see more.

We are being spoiled with yuri treats! What a blessed decade ^^

I cannot argue with Eripiyo’s choice, Maina is adorable and precious. Such a cute voice too. Although Sorane is gorgeous as well…

I think the two otaku guys are cool. They give one hundred percent to their passion and to each other and Eripiyo. Great friends to support her.

What a fascinating end to the episode… It’s going to be a long wait to the second one.

Agreed that the show is gorgeous and that Eripiyo herself is beautiful. If she ends up with Maina and they dress up Eripiyo as well, it’s going to be heaven!

I don’t think you have to worry about manga spoilers, nobody in this side of the world is reading the manga and it isn’t being translated or anything. That’s why people is asking if this is yuri despite Eripiyo constantly yelling “Maina aishiteru” multiple times during the episode.

Love the premise, let’s see how they handle them getting closer. I’m sure Maina will do her best too to express her feelings properly.

I spent most of this episode wondering if I was going to like this as a Happy Sugar Life type show, or as yuri, but the photo session settled it.

I hope Eripiyo wins Maina’s heart.

Thanks for all your recaps, reviews, and recommendations. Gave this one a watch and I could not stop smiling throughout. I tried looking up the manga, but as Makoto said, aside from an old (and vague) review of the first three volumes, this manga didn’t surface anywhere else. I’m fairly sure this will be a one season type of introduction, so here’s hoping this one pulls a Skip Beat and gets popular by the end though!

It’s finally here! Loved the first ep of this show, totally lived up to my hype and I really had a good time watching it.

The girls are so cute!!!! I don’t know if I can pick a favorite yet, but I gotta say Maki caught my attention. She looks like the older girl of the group, so right away she’s an early favorite, but the others are so cute too!!

Eripiyo is wild but a fun character. She got me laughing a number of times and I’m looking forward to more of her antics as the show progresses.

I hope she and Maina draw closer at the shows continues, would be nice to see them get a happy ending.

    Ep 2 hype!

not my kind of idol anime. I won’t last another complete episode of this shit. DROPPED.

I would just stick to Bang Dream season 3.

the mangaka writes yuri stories, so I guess this will probably be yuri and not just very strong subtext. Will give this a try.

Not really into idols but the characters here have Yuri potential so I’ll give it at least 3 episodes.

While I am not covering this, the first episode is enjoyable. Eripiyo falling in love with Maina does kind of remind me of when Miyako fell in love with Hana and that she and Eripiyo wears their track suits from high school. Granted, the age gap is probably not as bad since Maina is a teenager. Still, have to give her props for being that dedicated for her, even to sit in a hot summer day.

I think Cham Jam’s new costumes are great. Maybe not as frilly as most idol costumes but the members look more mature and sexy in them. Yuri approved!
