It was the beginning of the end. Were our lovelies ready for what Suishou had in store in the decisive battle?
We started off with what could only be described as a Holy Grail from the Fate franchise moment as Mangetsu and Ernesta were immediately “treated” to another one of Suishou’s illusions.
The battle was as fierce as one would expect from a final clash as Suishou revealed she had 1000 years’ worth of experience competing in GRANBELM wars. The reason? The Magiaconatus made a deal with her which stated that if she could prove that there was no other mage strong enough to become the Uber Mage then she would win the title. 1000 years later and it still wasn’t satisfied essentially appointing Suishou as the “Final Boss”. Obviously doing this crap for a millennium would potentially drive anyone insane, hence Aoi Yuuki using the notes she took from Yoko Hikasa during this fight.
As usual I won’t write a full breakdown of the battle. Like I said it’s worth the wait so I’ll present a cliffnotes version instead.
Like in her battle with Kuon Suishou feigned being at a disadvantage a couple of times catching our adorable duo off guard.
A shocking moment was when Suishou crushed Ernesta causing Mangetsu to go berserk again. As she did so Suishou gloated about how selfish humanity is and that being why no one was able to beat her all this time, including Mangetsu.
Mangetsu was like “So what if humans have selfish reasons for why they fight? It’s okay because that’s part of being human (animals too but that’s besides the point). What matters is human potential in the world. Yes, there are bad people in the world and erasing magic from existence won’t change much…but it’s a start! Humanity is capable of bouncing back from any defeat so long as they’re able and willing to do something about it”
Suishou: “What do you know!? You’re just a doll!”
Mangetsu: HELL NO I’M NOT A DOLL! I am Ernesta’s hopes and dreams given a form and I will fight to the end for her!
While Mangetsu gave her all against Suishou we saw that it was part of her plan. See, Nene-Nee gave her the cloaking device she used on Nights 2 and 3. While she kept Suishou busy Ernesta would secretly make her move.
Suishou refused to acknowledge Mangetsu’s courage but she didn’t expect her to go Super Form at the last minute unleashing all her power in one blast. Victory was at hand but instead of another illusion Suishou had more reserve power and…
Next time the G-View.
Suishou has been doing for a THOUSAND year… No wonder her personality has become like….. As for Shingetsu, she will have to choose between Mangetsu or her wish next week… I know we all want Mangetsu to come back… but it’s so unlikely… I can pretty much see another Madooka’s ending expect Shingetsu go ‘Rebellion’ route which is near impossible or somehow find the way to bring Mangetsu back.

Best we can hope for is a balanced compromise.

I think the highlight from this ep, at least for me, has gotta be Aoi Yuuki and her top notch voice acting. Like damn, she was going hard for the whole ep. Wow.
Insane battle, the best one yet I’d say.
Tough break for Mangetsu, although I’m guessing she’s not fully gone.
Final fight next week. Gonna be wild!

Aoi Yuuki got to go all out in a villanos role on this show and as expected she nailed it. She is one of the best in the business after all. Seriously sad this show got overlooked
Methinks her soul is nearby.
Of course it will.

I thought this would be the final episode. One more week of terrible waiting… ^^
Mangetsu is beautiful. I’ll be so sad if she’s gone. If Ernesta gets one wish in the end, I want her to be selfish and wish to have her dream girl. The world will be fine by itself.
It’s a wonderful series. I always wondered why Suishou was so cruel and twisted… well now we know. Poor Suishou.

An extra twist.
Somehow wishing for something that helps the world and brings back Mangetsu.
1000 years of being denied your wish because the hosts are jerks. I don’t blame her for losing her mind.

Somebody has to kill that Magiaconatus, what that thing doing is horrible. Both Aoi and Hikasa are voice actor gods. It was hard to see that ending scene (mostly because my eyes were watery). The show has been surprised us, I hope they continue doing so. By getting us a happy ending. Having the same fate with another show would be a shame. I’m sure they know what to do.

I don’t know what’s going to happen next, but I think this show has been rather mediocre….The last episode will be the only thing left that can pull up its score for me. As it stands, not a show I can recommend. This really doesn’t seem my genre

Mangetsu accept her fate not only because that but also because she was planning sacrifice herself, it someway makes easier Shingetsu decision

It’s expected that Mangetsu will sacrifice herself given the farewell party from last time. The sad part is that despite her sacrifice, it appeared that it didn’t do anything to finish Suishou off. Still, having to serve as the final boss for Granbelm can explain why Suishou has the personality that she does. Still, I highly doubt that she is human and probably created by the Magiaconatus.
Still, it’s obvious that Ernesta will prevail in the end. The question remains, do she bring Mangetsu back to life or fulfill her mission. It’s my only guess…

When you’ve won tons of tournaments and still haven’t been awarded the championship belt? Time to renegotiate your employment contract 😛

Unfortunately she became obsessed with winning that one belt.

Well, whaddya know, Suishou was final boss material…because she was a part–nay, a FEATURE of the Granbelm battles for a thousand years. By Magiaconatus’ will, she judged the potential mage candidates and found them all wanting, but that being didn’t acknowledge her and it never will. Heck, I bet that even if Ernesta fell to her indomitable will, Magiaconatus would just keep her fighting for another thousand years. By then, I’m sure that all the craps she would have for the world then would be next to none-existent. I don’t think she’d even have the will to toy with her opponents emotions, either.
This part of the final battle was quite intense, to say the least. The back and forth between the Two Moons and Suishou was great. Mangetsu fought hard and conveyed her feelings as best as she could, but sadly Suishou was just too much for her to handle. Now, it’s time to bring the curtain down on this fight.
I gotta say, the look on Mangetsu’s face in her final moments was so serene it hurts ;_;
Now, if you don’t mind, I got some tracks for ya:
1) Welcome to the Land of Origin
2) “Shingetsu-chan…The moon…is incredible…”
3) The Final Two
