Bloom Into You Episode 9: Steamy Sports Festival

My body wasn’t ready for this episode.

Touko has plans with Yuu.jpg

Touko had plans with Yuu.

The Annual Sports Festival was fast approaching and everyone was scrambling to get everything ready for the big day. Yuu didn’t show it but inside missed Touko’s company since the festival kept them apart for a while. Later that day when Yuu was sent to get a banner she coincidentally ran into Touko…who had no intention of letting her leave the storage shed.

Yuu: Umm, senpai. What are you doing?

Touko: Getting my long overdue dose of Yuu Gorditas.

Yuu and Touko kissing again.jpg

Touko having a tasty meal.

Touko: It’s been a while since we last ate.

Yuu: You done yet?

Touko: Nope.

“Touko’s taking longer than usual”

Yuu: Alright, enough!

Touko: Awwww. I want moooore…Okay. How about this. I’ll be good during the Sports Festival. But once it’s over, you WILL reward me.

Yuu: What are you up to?

Touko: You. Yuu. Eat. Me. Touko.

Yuu: Wha-!? How is that different from your other chow times?

Touko: It toooooootally is dood!

Yuu: Fiiiiine. Just make sure to behave yourself till then.

Skipping the conversation between Akari, Koyomi and that guy whose name I don’t care to remember, we instead focus on the one between Yuu and Maki-kun.

Yuu and Maki-kun having another conversation.jpg

Another interesting conversation between the two.

Maki-kun: So, feeling lonely without your beloved senpai around?

Yuu: Wha-!? What are you talking about!? It’s not like that yo.

Maki-kun: Oh come now. You so look like someone in love.

Yuu: Dood. I don’t think I can ever fall in love anyone.

Maki-kun: Is that right? Well then we’re in the same boat.

Yuu: Really?

Maki-kun: For me, it’s like I’d rather watch the show than be part of the main cast. You know? I’m content with sitting on the sidelines. Anyway, you feel lonely?

Yuu: I thought I did because I couldn’t fall in love like everyone else. But ever since meeting Touko, her loving me and wanting me to stay the way I am now…it’s like I don’t need to fall in love anymore. I’m by Touko’s side and that’s good enough for me. Thanks Maki-kun. I’m glad I got to let all this out by talking to someone like me.

Maki-kun thinking: (Yeah. We’re definitely not the same. You have the face of a lonely cherry.)

After the commercial break.

Sayaka meeting Miyako again.jpg

Miyako returns!

Sayaka: Wassup Miyako. Came to see Miss Riko compete?

Miyako: Hey girl. Oh I came to see her fumble. She’s so cute trying hard to keep up with everyone but failing. Mum’s the word, kay?

Miyako sees her running up to Touko.

Miyako: (So that’s her main squeeze huh? Hmmm. Looks like a tough nut crack. Good luck kiddo…Now to go enjoy the real show.)

And enjoyed it she did…off screen. Sad. Would love to have seen Miss Riko compete.

Touko's rival.jpg

Touko’s super competitive and has a devoted rival. Neato.

Touko running.jpg

Touko running.

The Sports Festival itself wasn’t important. It had its moments but the real highlight was seeing Sayaka AND ESPECIALLY Yuu’s reactions to seeing Touko in action.

Sayaka: No fair. Your competitiveness turns me on.

Yuu: Oh my GOD…How can senpai be so beautiful?

The Insert Song was a nice touch.

Moving right along to what really really came here for.

Yuu about to take the initiative.jpg

Yuu: Wha-!? Already? Fiiine. Do as you wish.

Touko: Ahem. I believe the deal was YOU eating ME this time dearest Yuu.

Yuu thought about it.

Yuu: (Wait…My gut is telling me not to take the lead. It’s telling that if I do it then there’s no turning back and it could be dangerous.) Ummm…You know what senpai? You have your fill.

Touko: WHAT!? OH COME OOOON! Okay fine. I know it ain’t your style…but this is what you get for breaking your promise.

Touko goes French.jpg

Touko goes French.

Yuu: DOOD!

Touko: Oh my! Was that too much?

Yuu: No…I…actually…liked…tongue.

Touko: Really? Okay then…Ready for Round 2?

Yuu (I don’t think I’m the one who is super turned on by this. That’s definitely not my heart beating super fast…It can’t be.)

I already know which one of you will join me in saying this and which ones won’t…

This part of the manga slipped my mind, so I enjoyed it so much. Well done episode and I realy am interested where the anime will end compare to the manga, still ongoing.

Yuu knew that if she kissed her, she would fall for her in an instant and didn´t want to risk it. She is falling for her slowly instead.

Having read the manga, I was prepared for this episode – and it still managed to surpass my expectations.
Before I get to the really good stuff, I think it is definitely worth mentioning Koyomi’s conversation – in particular, she now has some idea of what to write for Touko’s character in the script.

The kiss scenes, and Yuu just being mesmerised by Touko as she was running were particularly excellent. Great insert song with that latter part, as well.

I will echo your final thought on this episode: SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOD!

I’ll go into more detail regarding Koyomi’s discussions about Touko’s personality for her script when the time comes. Yes she’s made some progress but we’ll find out when the play starts.

All the scenes you mentioned along with the Insert Song were excellent. Hopefully it’ll be included in the OST or released separately at some point.

      It certainly has been. Yeeeeeeeesssss.

Troyca did it again with this episode, not only did the kiss live up to expectations (I expected to see tongues but not actually HEAR them, good God) but where did that song and sequence with Touko absolutely fucking stealing Yuu’s heart come from during the Relay? Obviously the manga can’t do that because lack of audio. It was fucking beautiful.

There’s no doubt in my mind that this is the best adaptation from any manga to anime for me, at least I can’t think of any. That episode was the last big thing I was waiting to see, there are other moments certainly but this was The Big One. Troyca or the director specifically, I’m going to hold them in very high regard now.

Beautiful episode. I wished for an episode like that. The way it keeps going, the way Yuu starts to change. What do we learn with that? Everyone is able to find love.
But now real talk. This is tearing me apart. I want that they get all lovey-dovey again and stay like that forever.

I’m so surprise they put in the scenes of the Manga to the anime, so well. HOT, now I can’t wait in till they start doing the play.

Yeeeeessss!!! This is one of the best parts! It’s so exciting that I wanted to tell you to watch out for the sports day episode since the first episode LOL 😛

Well Yuu’s starting to feel it and since she hasn’t fallen in love before she’s not aware of the small and initial signs 🙂 And that talk with Maki-kun was nice, the background too. Like being under shallow water. And speaking of underwater, that reward kiss, Yuu almost drowned there LOL 😛 I think that’s how she feels currently and not knowing it might be love, she might fall even deeper if she chose to initiate the kiss at that time that’s why she shouldn’t 😛

I wanted to see Riko-sensei run too 😀 I can only imagine their cute little arguments they might’ve had because Miyako teased her about being last place 😛 …then probably lead to something more eventually 😉

Anyway…I love this episode! I love this show overall 😀

Okay guys I knew what was coming but I died, I couldn’t handle it, but the two also revived me because I have to witness this anime till the end.

I love the passion here, it’s no longer one sided, Yuu’s last lines hit her hard. This show is the best.

Great episode as usual. The song during the Touko’s run was really good.
The kiss at the the was awesome.

“Senpai wants me to… do it” No, not yet, Yuu.

Miyako learned all the sore spots on Miss Riko that needed a massage.

Akari fell for the wrong Basketball-senpai. It would have given Touko another thing to compete over.

  12. I believe I have only one thing to say about this episode: OH MY.

(Well, also, that insert song bit during the run was amazing, as well as showing Yuu falling more and more in love. And the discussions with Koyomi realizing things about Touko (or how she would write about her as a character), Yuu’s talk with Maki were excellent as well. And seeing more of Miyako!)

It’s refreshing to see an anime satisfy its audience with respect to the romantic scenes. Many other manga adaptations like to tease, but never pull the trigger when it comes to anything steamy.

I kept grinning like a crazy person the entire episode. Yes Yuu, it feels good with tongue. They’re going French from now on. Falling in love is like music to your ears. You almost there Yuu.

The kissing moments are nice, but it’s obvious that Yuu is not ready to cross that line. Still, from this, it makes me wonder if Touko is forgetting about her desire of keeping things the status quo and not have Yuu begin loving her back.

Still, Maki is making it obvious that Yuu can’t keep denying that she doesn’t love Touko. It’s obvious that she does.

  17. Nick says:

Steamy sports day is right. I heard going into this ep there was a lot of kissing, that was very true.

Yuu can’t keep denying her feelings for much longer. Her conversation with Maki was nice. The art in the scene was really great too. But yeah, she needs to accept those feelings deep within her.

The actual sports festival part was cool. The whole relay reminding me of my time in track back in school. I still really have a soft spot for track and field as it meant so much to me back then, so seeing it in anime from time to time is always a welcome sight.

The insert song was fantastic. Made that whole scene so beautiful.

Oh and seeing Miyako come to cheer on her girlfriend was nice too. I hope we see more of them as a couple at some point in this ep.

Post sports festival stuff got very steamy. And that tongue action too!! Oh my. But yeah, Yuu needs to figure herself out and get her feelings sorted. She really can’t keep holding off forever.

And yes, this show really is so good.

So good. Sakura Trick goodness right there. Yeeeeeeeesssss.

Slowly but surely her mind will accept what her heart has known all along.

      Another interesting conversation with Maki-kun.

      It was good stuff.

We need even more Miyako X Riko sweetness!

WHEW! It got really hot in my room in spite of the AC being on that day.
