The Hype Twins greatly blessed us with their magnificence but as the show progressed there was more to get hyped for besides the gayness. This time we were blessed the eagerly anticipated return of the one and only Hype Mama! I won’t ask for us to find whether she lived up to the hype because I KNEW SHE WOULD since she was first shown!
We started the episode right where the last one left off with Hype Mama surprising everyone. She assured her gorgeous twins that Papa still existed. She happily hugged Kanata, glad to see her back in action.
Since arriving at the island Haruka felt a dormant superiority over everyone due to her being the tallest and most well-endowed (or something like that). However, when Hype Mama arrived she realized there were sexier beasts out there in the world. All that worry quickly washed away upon receiving Hype Mama’s blessing. She may be dating a small cutie but she cannot deny a mature beauty when she sees one.
Akari was beyond pumped to receive training from the supreme goddess but Claire had other plans for the tsundere with the great tooshie, much to her dismay. I don’t blame her. Look at dat midriff yo. Of course Akari would get turned on.
No sooner did the training begin when Marissa showed her incredible power. The scary part was that not being anywhere close to the strength she had in her glory days.
The first lesson was for HaruKana to catch one of Hype Mama’s spikes. They were outmatched but over time realized the key was for them to work together to catch one, which they did. The lesson was for the two to not only improve their blocking and receiving but be able to combine them (Haruka’s blocking and Kanata’s receiving).
During break time Marissa gave Haruka some advice. Haruka had difficulty thinking while on the move but assured her she’d improve over time. Marissa told her that another important facet was essentially to strengthen her relationship with her girlfriend: Empathy.
Afterward the team talked about when Kanata and the Hype Twins first met during a junior tournament finals. Emily was more dependent on Claire back then.
As we recall The Justice Team won that tournament.
Thus the teams became friends and continued training with Hype Mama. After the flashback Akari was formally welcomed to the Beach Volleyball Club and it finally became official.
Time passed and it was already New Year’s. After making wishes Haruka got a call from a certain someone.
NaruAya were at the airport waiting for their flight to Kyoto. Point of the call was to try and help Kanata and Narumi patch things up since their last meeting didn’t end on a positive note. Haruka and the others agreed it would be best for the two to talk things out.
Yup. It’s one of those scenes. You know. Where our heroes have to get somewhere ASAP. The twins knew what was coming…along with CG loathers. Make sure you had a barf bag nearby.
Put simply this was the most dramatic episode of the show and it kept things simple and clean. Kanata got her words in, Narumi was probably crying or too shy to show her weakness so she quietly acknowledged her promise of becoming a National Champion with Haruka. Remember, the promise they made was for both of them to become champions. It’s just that fate had different plans and now they have to do it separately. Point being that as we saw at the beginning of the anime this is all leading to a championship match between HaruKana and NaruAya, which we will hopefully get to see animated.
