As mentioned when I talked about my plans to start covering Aikatsu Friends! I would skip “filler” episodes of Hugtto! where not much of interest happened. Episode 27 was one of them. All readers need to know was that it helped develop Saaya some more and that Dr Traum(a) labeling himself as Ruru’s creator/father figure. Episode 28 could have been another episode to skip…were it not for one HUGE DEVELOPMENT!
The episode started with Homare’s pet dog Mogumogu watching a cat food commercial starring Lily the Purple Cat (Like Rory she reminded me of a certain someone from the previous PreCure.), who he immediately fell in love with. So yes, it’s a dog in love with a cat.
“Insert pleas for a 2nd season of Inugami-san and Nekoyama-san here”.
When Homare told everyone about it Hana the resident cupid (she also helps het couples) was the first to volunteer her services. Ruru however, had a hard time computing the concept of inter-species romance. In any case the other Rangers wanted to help Mogumogu too. Luckily for him Saaya saw a dog competition with the grand prize of meeting Lily in person.
Thus we got an adorable training montage complete with Monster Emiru (it’s as cute as it sounds) and several instances of Hugtan patting the doggy (also as cute as it sounds.). However, Ruru still felt uncertain about the noble canine’s quest for love.
Of course her little lover caught wind of her troubled expression and went to her. Ruru explained her doubts over Mogumogu’s quest due to his love interest being of a different species and related it with her own situation. She feared it would be impossible for an android and a human to love each other. Emiru did what she did best, sing a song to cheer her sweetie up. She told her that when it came to love species didn’t matter. She liked Ruru very much and that’s all that mattered. Her words brought Ruru great joy and the two would go on to perform at the dog competition.
After the song the reformed talent agency appeared and introduced her own dog, Haru entering the competition. It was neat while it lasted with both dogs getting one win apiece.
Before the last round of the competition Bishin made her move and I have to say that while her MotW summoning ritual was brief it took the #1 spot formerly held by Ruru’s because of that creepy moment at the end. Good stuff.
The MotW gave the Power Rangers a hard time and was about to attack a little girl. Luckily Mogumogu was able to conquer his fear of monsters and distract it long enough for EmiRuru to finish it off with style. Bishin’s personal mission to capture Harry had failed again.
Predictably the girl he saved was Lily’s owner who had a special reward for the brave little pooch. Speaking of rewards…
Ruru: “Emiru. I love you very much”
Emiru: “Huh? Oh my! This is so sudden. I-”
Ruru: “Hug me baby.”
Keep in mind that while the two have said those magic words to each other before the power of them this time around was stronger than ever. Their love for each other grew much, much stronger that day.
Besides this magical moment there’s one more VERY important thing of note.
Rory old bean. I summon you!
EmiRuru are the best thing about this already fantastic entry in the Pretty Cure franchise. They help make something awesome incredible.
Earlier today (as of the date of this post), I posted this tweet:
I stand by it.
