I briefly talked about the premiere episode with the newest Yuri Council member and she thought the show so far was like “Scorching Ping Pong Girls meets Hibike! Euphonium.” She’s right.

Nagisa vs Ayano rematch.
We joined Nagisa and Ayano going all-out in their rematch. Although Nagisa was faring better than in the Nationals she still couldn’t break through Ayano’s defenses.

The shadow of Ayano’s mom. Guess she wasn’t her older sister as I initially thought.
That was until Nagisa tried going for a drop shot. This brought back bad memories for Ayano and she lost focus, allowing Nagisa to get her fourth point. Ayano called the match off, irritating Nagisa.

Elena the new team manager.
Before Ayano could run off Elena appointed herself the new team manager, foiling her escape plan.

Riko playing.
After getting beat up again for channeling his inner Trainer Guy, Coach Criminal wanted to test the club members’ skills and assigned them to singles matches. Nagisa took on Riko and barely beat her. Coach Criminal noticed something about Nagisa’s play style.

Nagisa bumping into Ayano.
The next day Coach Criminal had Nagisa and Ayano team up for a doubles match. Nagisa was so focused on keeping up with Ayano she bumped into her a couple of times. When Coach Criminal called her out on it she accused him of showing favoritism toward Ayano.

Chalkboard flashback.
We got a Nagisa flashback in chalk form. Basically she’s the third anime female protagonist of 2018 who has/had to deal with height issues. In Nagisa’s case it was being accused of having a n unfair advantage due to her being taller than every other player in her class instead of them acknowledging her hard work. Also this is another case of a skinny girl becoming a gorgeous woman.

Booty Girl scolding Nagisa.
Later that evening Nagisa noticed that Riko was going easy on her the day prior. Afterward the cheerful member of the club tried cheering Nagisa up but when she unintentionally complimented her skills based on her height she lashed out at her. Booty Girl saw this and scolded her. She told her to quit whining and get back to being the girl she envied for loving the sport of badminton. The reason for this was Booty Girl didn’t have a passion for anything yet.

So beautiful.

Nagisa got her smile back.
The next day Coach Criminal challenged Nagisa to a match. During the match he intentionally provoked her to confirm what he suspected, that Nagisa’s play style was heavily based around setting up situations for her to score points with smashes. He also had a feeling it was because Nagisa was unfairly judged for her height when in reality big players have an initial speed disadvantage. Point being she’s been letting critics get to her this entire time. Coach Criminal acknowledged her being a good player because she worked hard to get where she was. I’m guessing he’s the first person to do so in a while. He told her to remember her love of the game and play for that reason. Nagisa got her groove back after that and she apologized to the team, rallying them to go for broke. You know, the cliche “This is our last year before we graduate” scenario.

I’m guessing this girl is an ojou-sama and also the one from the flashback Ayano had besides her mom.
The drama and great badminton are still there so for now I’ll going. Just waiting for some more solid ships to pop up. Currently there’s Nagisa X Riko…unless she’s the one who becomes fixated on Coach Criminal. I have a feeling at least one of the girls will…because of course.
Kind of in love with Riko, and kind of in love with this show too. The only concern I can put forward is with the introduction of Pinkhair Twintails, particularly in how she was introduced, it feels like we might be heading into Villain Of The Week territory instead of sticking with the grounded character development we’ve seen so far. That might still be entertaining but it might be a slight swerve away from what I’ve enjoyed most about the show in it’s early days.

For your sake I hope your vision of the show isn’t shattered.

Eh……all that angst…and it was solved in two minutes just like that. This has been a major over usage of time. This could have all been displayed and solved in one episode at the most. I hope they don’t continue this method of needlessly dragging things out. Also, why are they changing who the MC is???? This studio makes no sense with how they’ve been handling it so far.
I just hope they get things going finally. If not, I’ll be dropping this. I just want to give this one last episode. But I have not been impressed so far.

Feel free to leave whenever. I wouldn’t blame you.
I’m still here for the sexy badminton myself.

Finally the gloomy part is over. Like I said last week after they solved this it’s going to be a fun show. And I also said one of the girls might have a crush on Coach Criminal, unless creators decided to leave that part. It’s still a possibility. I don’t remember the manga that much but they changed a lot of scenes. The badminton part still amazing thou.

Hopefully you’re right. As much as I enjoy the badminton and sexiness I don’t know if I’ll be able to enjoy discussing the show for much longer if it keeps being this dramatic. Should it be that way I might have to change this to a “Will review it when it’s finished” show. We’ll see what happens.

That pink haired twin tail girl, is she lost? She looks like she came from another anime or should I say she way too “Avant Garde” when you compare to the other characters we saw from episode one. She also reminds me of a character from “High School of the Dead”. Just saying…

She does look like the girl from HOTD.

I didn’t expect they’d skip so much to that part, as long as coach criminal’s not making any major moves. If it’s not one of the MCs, especially Ayano, I don’t really mind if some of the girls will go for him.
Anyway, they got that one issue sorted out now it’s Ayano’s turn now I assume. Hers is more complicated in my opinion since it involves family. And I like how Elena, as her best friend, understands her situation and do her best to help her regain Ayano’s love for badminton. Though she could’ve given Ayano some more time but I guess the longer she stays that way the harder for her to get back to playing. Plus coach criminal might’ve pursued her either way. And that club adviser really can’t read the atmosphere, can she? Well, Ayano will have to face one of her issues from the past which is her narcissistic old foe LOL. I have a feeling she’ll be a funny one.
And also, Ayano’s mom sorta bothered me since episode one, that she looked like someone. And I just realized it earlier, it’s Nozomi from Keijo 😀 minus the two antenna LOL.

I’m personally glad Nagisa’s issues were quickly resolved.
I do hope the pink haired girl will liven things up.
You’re right. she does look like a more serious Nozomi.

I know you guys are still hoping for some yuri to happen. I must stress out that you read the manga. There is a reason why that new member called this series “Scorching Ping Pong Girls meets Hibike! Euphonium.” I would like to spoil some details but…

Some people don’t like angst.
Then there’s that one guy…
I’m still watching for the sexy badminton. The drama is what it is.
