359th G-View: Tachibanakan Triangle

Before we begin let us get the obvious out of the way. Yes, each episode is only three minutes long (not counting the ED). Yes, that is too short for a show like this. Yes, the short length does make the anime feel like it cut out some important scenes or some pivotal moments are rushed. Now that we have the biggest gripe against the show out of the way how does it fare as an anime in spite of this? Let us find out as we take a look at Tachibanakan Triangle.

Tachibanakan Triangle

Alternate Titles:

  • Tachibanakan to Lie Angle
  • Love to Lie Angle (English)

Genres: Comedy, Ecchi, Romance, Yuri

Theme: Love Triangle

Number of episodes: 12 (3 minutes each, not counting the ED)

G-Rating: 7/10 (Favoritism for Uncensored Version) 6/10 (Overall)

Plot Summary: Natsuno Hanabi gets a little more than she bargained for when she moves back to her hometown to start high school. Stuck between her childhood friend and a mysterious beauty, is this love triangle going to define her new life!?

Hanabi and Iori

Hanabi and one of her love interests Iori.

One thing that cannot be taken away from the show is that it delivers in the ecchi. Each episode finds ways of showing our leading love triangle participants gracing us with their sexy bodies. And for viewers yearning mature bodies the older tenants of the Tachibanakan dorms have that area covered. Unfortunately this is a PG-13 rated show meaning that the accursed “censor rays” ruin many parties throughout the show though some of the censoring is more part of the show as it progresses such as buttons flying when clothes are accidentally ripped off. speaking of sexy bodies the animation is solid. The girls as I already said are visually appealing and it feels smooth. I had no issue while watching the show. The soundtrack though gets lost in the background.

Hanabi seeing Konomi in the bathroom

Hanabi’s second love interest Konomi.

The characters are all straightforward. Hanabi is the kindhearted lead who spends most of her time trying to figure out the situation and getting pounced on or accidentally doing the pouncing. Konomi is the tsundere childhood friend with a pitched voice. Iori is the mysterious airhead beauty who has no trouble saying how she feels or what she wants though she can get distracted easily.

Yuu and Sonoa

Yuu and Sonoa.

On the other end we have the older ladies. Yuu is a chill babe who similarly to Iori has no problem telling people how she feels or what she wants and is, shall we say, more experienced. Sonoa is the adult tsundere of the group though when drunk she is more honest about her true feelings. Lastly we have Konomi’s older sister who is Hanabi’s older kindhearted counterpart but much more relaxed. As far as character development for each character who gets some goes it too is straightforward. Nothing complicated. The yuri ranges from sweet to PG-13 raunchy, meaning the standard stuff found in ecchi shows such as accidental groping, doors inexplicably left unlocked, a few kisses here and there etc. Both Iori and Konomi get an opportunity to grow closer to Hanabi so there is that. However, as mentioned at the beginning the shot length does affect the show by having the more plot-centered moments feel rushed and some important content cut. In the middle this is not as much of a problem because the episode could be crunched into three minutes and not feel like much was missed but there more plot important episodes are affected by the shortness.

Love to Lie Angle Poster

Overall Tachibanakan Triangle is harmless provided the viewer does not have a problem with ecchi content. Otherwise do not bother. What we get to see from the characters is fine, they all have nice bodies, the animation is solid and the yuri is fine. The shortness does affect plot progressing chapters so it can feel rushed and like it is missing some important scenes. Despite this I say it is a show worth checking out at least once as it can be finished in less than an hour. The wait for a show centered around an Ecchi Yuri Harem continues. Yes there are shows centered around or featuring a yuri harem character but an honest to goodness anime about an ECCHI Yuri harem does not yet exist.

PS: The show is better uncensored.

How to ruin a story in 3 minutes. So much potential wasted on some producer’s dumb decision. If this title interested you at all dont watch the anime, read the manga. Better told story, actual romantic development, and no censorship. And not like its a long series, chapter 28 recently released.

I’m sure it did its job of telling people, “yeah go check the manga for the same plot but with more detail” so gotta give it that. But yes, WAY TOO SHORT!

Fun series with potential, but it struggled with the runtime. I’ll have to check out the manga.

There were a few points where I was wondering if they had cut something from a scene to fit things into one episode.

In the earlier episodes it felt that way for sure.

Might as well pick up the manga to fill in the missing gaps and stuff as we wait for something similar but longer next time.

While it was too short (a consensus everyone can agree on) what I did see of it I loved. Hopefully it’ll do well enough to warrant a second (MUCH LONGER) season.

Yup. It showed a lot of potential for something greater. we may not get a 2nd season of this one but hopefully we WILL get that 20+ minute per episode ecchi Yuri harem show many of us crave one day.

It was fun but very very short –
So it was kinda stupid to waste money and make a show just to make the audience check out the manga instead. Well maybe they just want to see if a yuri harem would get popular and if it did then maybe some other studios would make a proper 20+ minutes yuri harem show. But again it’s very short to see anything –
    – I don’t know the story behind the decision making on this one but still I can’t deny that I had fun somehow. Hopefully, we’ll get a better one someday ahem (Shitsurakuen and Yurika no Campus life) 😀

The show was great, so much yuri, glorius body, but yeah, too short. From all of ecchi yuri manga I’ve read, I thought this gonna be a great full episode anime. I mean it has a plot to tell, it’s not even 4koma manga. The pace was kinda weird for me. I don’t how people who haven’t read the manga feel about the pace. I hope they’re understand the story. So yeah, I wouldn’t mind a longer 2nd season.

Not sure we’ll get a continuation of this show. Hopefully one day we will get that 22+ minute per episode show we crave. Perhaps as Kanna said Yurika’s Campus Life.

  6. As much as the premise of this yuri anime is very interesting, this being a 3-min anime is a total, embarrassing joke. It was so short that I stopped watching it so I can marathon the episodes at a later time. It is a shame because this cute yuri harem manga deserves a better anime than this.

Good concept, poor execution. That said, I enjoyed it and wouldn’t say it was a waste. For what they did, they did well imo, but no doubt 20 minutes would’ve been best. But, here’s hoping it’ll pave the way for a full length ecchi yuri harem anime one day, which is needed in the genre for sure.

Its criminal how such a great show was only made to be 3 minuets
    CRIMINAL
Songs last longer than an episode of this
Im salty and i’ll never get over it

    Was most certainly wonderful, though
    no doubt about it
    1000% sweet
    (made by 10000% criminals)

Short and sweet but not really that amazing for me. Yes it had some yuri moments and even a kiss, well technically I guess, but not the best execution overall. Wish this was longer than 3 minutes. Hell even 5 or 7 would’ve been better. Think this got a 5/10 from me.

Understandable. Many of us wished it were longer but we knew that going in and weren’t expecting anything fantastic. What we got was barely passable I suppose. Hopefully we’ll get that 20+ min per episode Yuri harem one day.

This anime is an example of why yuri harem anime generally work better than straight harem anime (bad ones including Infinite Stratos, To-Love-Ru). I checked and there is supposedly the first volume of the manga in English but apparently there has been no further attempts to print subsequent volumes in English. Does anyone know how the manga ends? Is there a definite resolution to the love triangle?
