Citrus Episode 6: Creator and Creation

The time has come to get clarity on the creation process of the sexy android known as Mei-Tron who began as a child full of hope and wonder but was unexpectedly roboticized out of nowhere.

Yuzu found the answer

Yes Yuzu. Our Savior’s figure is truly divine. Yeeessss.

Mei's poker face

Did I already mention Mei-Tron’s poker face makes me laugh? It makes me laugh.

Dad's poker face

Sorry Professor. Your robo-daughter surpassed you in the “hilarious poker face” dept.

So Professor Father tried being all nice and stuff but her mechanical offspring had no interest in complying with his kindness. Yuzu tried melting the ice by telling him about Mei-Tron’s accomplishments but he had no intention of going back to work, upsetting the machine.

While going out for a walk the Professor was like “So my daughter still wants me to get back to work huh? Dood. Being cooped up in a laboratory all day suuuuucks. I wanted to take a chill, see what the world had to offer and expand my knowledge that way instead of being cooped up in a lab building Stepford Wives for no good reason. Hopefully my offspring will one day forgive me for almost turning her into another subservient doll”.

Sorrowful Mei

Mei the lost soul.

Unfortunately as we’ve seen up to this point he did TOO GOOD of a job. Mei-Tron greatly admired the professor and completely devoted herself to her programming, doing whatever it took to be a worthy successor…even if it meant enduring crap as we saw in the premiere. All for the sake of making her creator proud. However, when the professor walked away from the world of science she was disappointed and heartbroken at the same time. To make up for his absence she decided to carry on the Aihara legacy by herself in the hopes her father would one day reconsider. The professor outright telling her he refused was the “killing blow” so to speak.

Mei-Tron about to give Yuzu the “special order”.

Mei-Tron initiated “Attack Mode” once more. At first Yuzu felt great joy as she was like “Finally. Mei accepted me.”…but then her joy turned to anger when Mei-Tron was like “This is what you have desired all this time, is it not? Unlimited pleasure. You wish to be sexually satisfied all the time, correct? Such a simplistic desire”. Yuzu was like “Damn you you hot rust bucket. Is that all you think of me? Some horny bitch who wants your sprocket nuggets and nothing more!? Damn you!”

Mama lightening up the mood.jpg

Mama lightening up the mood.

During all this Mama was like “They’re both flawed beings who can’t be honest with their familial bonds. Like father, like daughter pretty much…Teehee.”

So good you are Best Girl.

It’s that time again folks for Our Savior Harumin to do what she does best, save the day.

Yuzu found the answer.jpg

Harumin is so amazing just being there was enough to give Yuzu the answers she needed. Truly a miracle worker.

Mama's job.jpg

Ooooh. You don’t often see hot moms working in construction in anime. So cool.

Back to the plot. Mama called asking Yuzu if Mei was with her because Professor Father was already leaving for his flight. Our Savior was there to back Yuzu up in her search for robo-imouto.

Mei sulking.jpg

Mei sulking.

While Yuzu ran laps around the school searching the mechanical one was sulking in Professor Father’s laboratory showing that her human side, unlike her mechanical one, wanted to have fun with her dad again. See? Like father, like daughter.

Yuzu shifts into turbo.jpg

Shift into turbo BABEH!

An early “Serious Mode” this time around: So during the first time the OP aired some were whining about it being kinda spoilerfic. My argument back then on Twitter was the following “Yes. Scenes of later events and characters who would show up later were shown but there we didn’t see anything of what the scenes meant or what the characters would do so really nothing major was spoiled.” Only NOW in this episode do non-manga readers know what the bike scene in the OP was referencing.

Back to the show, Mei-Tron was like “This unit cannot comprehend the motives behind your actions Yuzu” to which Yuzu responded “Dood. does everything HAVE TO MAKE SENSE for it to be right? I’m doing this for you because I want to yo”.

Yuzu and Mei seeing their dad.jpg

Yuzu and Mei seeing the professor off.

They made it in time but Mei was nervous. Thankfully Yuzu was like “You got this Mei” and the two patched things up with Mei calling the professor just “Father” for the first time in ages I imagine. Afterward Mei was like “I’m inheriting the factory because it’s what I want” and Yuzu was like “Cool.”

Back home Yuzu and Mei were reading all the professor’s letters. Yuzu had a “My little sister’s growing up” cry and Mei’s humanity reached out to the gyaru…

Yuzu and Mei's passionate kiss.jpg

Passionate kiss.

Now this ladies and gentlemen is a different kiss from all the others up till now because finally, FINALLY it’s a consensual one. Mei started realizing she too likes Yuzu romantically and this served to intensify Yuzu’s love for Mei.

With that the “Professor Father” Chapter has come to an end. Join me next time as we begin the “Pink Enigma” Chapter.

Such a great ep! The anime truly is a blessing for the manga, as you’ve said. Some things are much better conveyed in animation and Mei’s situation is certainly one of them. I’m excited for Matsuri’s arc, though I’m already anticipating the hate she’s going get, as it was the same in the manga at first. That’s all I’ll say on that for now. Good stuff as always.

Darn right it is. It fleshed out her situation better than the manga did.

Her chapter’s…interesting. I will only say that much. But yes, like everything else before it’s explained Matsuri will cause the ill informed or quick to anger to lose their minds once more.

Agreed, by quite some distance the best episode yet, It’s not even funny how much of a good friend Harumin is with Yuzu, She did so much for her in this episode alone, I really do hope we find out Harumin did all this out of friendship and not love too because that would make Harumin even more selfless. They’ve practically got that whole skinship thing going too, I like her face as she watches Yuzu blast off on her Bike with Mei, she didn’t just give her the Bike, she gave Yuzu her support.

This episode did good for showing just how much Yuzu loves Mei, and how amazing Yuzu is a person, and of course, I hope this episode alongside the relativeunthawing of last week, sees Mei for the troubled but amazing girl she is as well.

    ‘sprocket nuggets’ XD

  7. (Tired while writing this just before going to be after a day of marathoning anime (Saki) at my anime club, so will be a bit briefer/less specific/coherent than usual).

More Harumin! This is good. No, amazing! By this episode, I can confidently say that Harumin’s score isn’t changing lower any time even one bit, so I am henceforth giving her the score “infinite”. That is how amazing she is.

Yuzu gains a lot of points for various things again, like doing more Yuzu stuff, realizing more things, protecting her own interests and feelings from unconsensual stuff, for getting Mei and Professor Father to reconcile, and for finally learning maybe that consensual stuff is way better.

Mei gains a few points for getting better by the end, and stuff.

Professor Father’s reasons for doing stuff seem understandable, so he gains a few points as he departs, including for making up with Mei and stuff and such.

Matsuri appears next, huh? She has a different voice than I expected seeing how she looked, at least…I guess we’ll see where she places on my scoreboard soon.

Yuzu’s mom is pretty cool. Also, construction worker, huh? +Cool points.

All in all, great episode! I am starting to honestly like this show quite a bit. Mostly due to Harumin and Yuzu.

Harumin is god tier no doubt.

She’s a caring onee-chan and future lover. How nice.

      Slow and steady with Mei.

Her chapter is an interesting one.

She’s cute, sexy and hardcore. No wonder Yuzu’s so cool. Got it from her mom.

They are top two babes after all.

If Yuzu’s mom working in construction was in the manga, I clearly forgot about that. Was a nice touch, something you really don’t see that often, if at all in anime.

Harumin being best girl as always. Liking her more and more each week, just wish she got some decent screen time though.

The anime long surpassed the little I read of the manga, and my guess is this Matsuri character is someone who has a past that involved an unrequited love that got her trashed by society at a young age. So, she trashes people who are in relationships, but does it in a way that doesn’t implicate her.

Something like that. It’s just a guess based on that like minute of screentime she has had so far

Anyway, onto the episode itself: Fantastic. I am very much loving this show~

And Yuzu continues being best girl ❤

Funny how much an anime greatly enhanced an average at best manga story with its additions.

Keep that Matsuri theory in mind. You may end up being right.

      Yuzu is indeed awesome.

  12. Basil says:

What I don’t get is what Harumin gets from all this. She’s sweet and selfless and lends Yuzu her house and her bike and her ear, and there’s a LOT of weight on that ear. It seems like every day Yuzu is talking about another problem she has and Harumin patiently listens.

I mean, obviously friendship is more than “what do I get from all these inconveniences,” but gyaru kinship can only go so far. If Harumin isn’t a saint on the level of mother Teresa (she might be) then they must be incredibly good friends, and I want to see that represented more. I’m going forward really hoping for more scenes where Yuzu and Harumin just hang out and have fun. Or maybe Harumin gets to dump a few problems on Yuzu for a change. More give, less take. I’d enjoy that, but I like the series so far. More than I thought I would.

  13. ArcaJ says:

I can’t really root fo Harumin because I just know Yuzu’s going to break her heart. She’s into metal women with hearts of silicon. Sorry Harumin!

I’ll just leave my thoughts on both previous episodes since I stopped watching after Himeko (Twin Drills) dropped her “bombshell.”

While I’m glad she didn’t rape Mei, I’m PISSED OFF that the show even implied it. I understand that Himeko knpows as much about love (and by that I mean VERY LITTLE to NOTHING) as Mei and Yuzu, but lying about something like that is just scuzzy! I’m glad Mei smacked her back down, but it still doesn’t solve the very real problem of the rape culture of this show.

So,I was very pleased to have an assault-free episode. Well, Yuzu did try to “get closer” to Mei on the train, but that’s just her sucking at flirting and being unable to READ THE MOOD!!!!

I liked that Yuzu wanted to introduce Mei to her father (such a sweet scene!) and Mei even opened up a little.

Next episode, and we’re right back to the rape! >_< OK, so Mei got some sense slapped into her (finally) and realized that sexual assault might NOT the solution to all life’s problems! And as likable as Mei no Papa is supposed to be, I hate people like him! She is your CHILD!

EVERYTHING you do is for her. If you don’t like your circumstances fine! But, don’t you dare abandon her just because your life didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to. He could have taken her with him. Can’t he see what he’s done to her? She doesn’t know what consent is! She’s twisted herself into knots over him and all her relationships suffer. She was dating a teacher who was abusing her!

If you’re a parent you have to be a parent or NEVER COME NEAR HER AGAIN!!!

Sorry, that kind of thing sets me off. Personal.

Anyway, Harumin may be Best Girl, but Yuzu (as is her Yuzu pedigree) was the MVP. I love the way she just knocks over convention and social niceties, just to help Mei in any way she can. Sh was even willing to put aside her romantic aspirations, just to make Mei’s life better. She still sucks at flirting.

That last kiss was the first REAL kiss of this series. They still have a LOOOOONG way to go before they can have anything resembling a healthy relationship. And now Faux Megurine Luka is lurking out there. (I have a “good” feeling about her.)

For now Best Girl doesn’t want Yuzu’s flesh, just her company is enough.

Yes. Professor Father didn’t go about it the right way at all. We saw what effect his reckless actions had on Mei.

Yuzu is a great character, yes.

Mei will hopefully become more human as time passes.

I’m certain you’ll have lots of fun watching the “Pink Enigma” chapter.

OMG yes, Harumin is even more awesome for me than in the manga, her voice actress is a true master of the arts. Of course Yuzu is my favorite and Mei-tron, well, she has a bit more of a human software in there somewhere, so that’s pleasant. The only thing, I did not like Matsuri’s voice, people say it’s similar to the one in a CD -drama but I haven’t heard it so I couldn’t know. I mean, how much younger is she… (feeling a bit confused now)

Thanks for covering this up, also I just found out about Ramen girl and I’m signing for it as well, it’s fun and stalker yuri girl seems funny as hell.

  15. Ah, Matsuri, the Japanese word for Festival that also gets used as a Personal Name.

Am I the only one who thinks it sounds suspiciously similar to Mitsraim?

It’s obvious that her father eventually saw that working at the academy is not what he wanted to do. Clearly, the divorce with his first wife definite have something to do with this. Still,it’s probably not a good idea for him to leave his daughter behind. At least Yuzu helped Mei make up with their father, clearing another obstacle.

It’s nice to see Harumi comfort Yuzu in tough times.
