The previous episode ended in a real downer so let’s find out how our adorable heroine responded to the harsh words from the person she cared about most.
We joined Hazuki talking about dropping out of the magic school and forgetting everything. Headmistress Sugimura presented her with a blue potion that would erase her memories of the school. Hazuki left the Cinderella Origin with her, which was later sealed away.
Misa’s onee-chan senses tingled sensing something bothering Hazuki, specifically her having “boyfriend” troubles. To cheer her up she invited her to a Christmas party which she initially refused but changed her mind when Misa brought up a certain blue dress,
We joined Shizuka discussing the upcoming qualifying match with the Headmistress(es) and a suitable replacement for Hazuki.
The new third member of Team Japan was Mai Sadohara whose Origin was The Grateful Crane. She seems to be a white mage.
Hazuki looked up a book on ballroom parties but was called to the great library. There the Headmistress waited for her who knew Hazuki had yet to take the blue potion. Hazuki still hesitated to take it. The Headmistress then told her a story of someone close to her heart she “faintly” remembered. It was about a Maedchen whose dream was to bring peace between not only mages but Stains and Flecks. Only her closest friends knew about it for obvious reasons. She competed in the Hexennacht where she hardened her heart to stand a chance against the competition. At the end of the tournament she broke the Origin contract and disappeared, tired of all the senseless fighting. While Sugimura forgot her friend’s appearance and times they spent together she remembered her feelings for her and regretted not noticing her suffering sooner. This Maedchen was the Cinderella Origin Master before Hazuki.
The day of both the Hexennacht Qualifier and the Christmas party had arrived. While Shizuka led her team against Yumilia’s Coalition Hazuki put on her lovely dress. She still had Shizuka on her mind when her stepmom called her to check something out. It was high heels she bought for her.
When Hazuki teared up from her family’s kindness Mom told her she had an idea what was going on. Not the Magic World stuff but the…other thing. They shared a touching moment where she told Hazuki to “Do what you feel is right. We’ve got your back” basically. The bond between Hazuki and her new family leveled up from names to “Mom and Onee-chan”.
Hazuki knew her place was alongside Shizuka and ran back to the library. The Headmistress expected this to happen which was why one of her copies was there waiting for her return. After Hazuki went through the portal she revealed the “potion” was just water.
As for the brief snippets of the qualifying battle Shizuka had every intention of paying Yumilia back for what she did but the Coalition proved to be too strong for Team Japan. Suddenly a familiar ally made her return “Neptune style”. Neptunia fans will get the reference.
I predict in the next episode Hazuki will finally transform.
PS: Sugimura broke the cliche and “proudly” revealed her real age.
UGH!! I WANT TO CHOKE THE LIFE OUT OF THAT LITTLE SHIT LYNNE, TO ME SHE’S BEYOND REDEMPTION AND I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YUMILIA SLAUGHTER HER.
So the head mistress lady can multiply herself which means she can do many tasks at once and the best of all, having many of herself doing “some task” at once ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Based on how she speaks about her lov…….I mean her friend, I think it’s likely that the previous Cinderella was Hazuki’s mother.
And yes, Mai is “amazing” ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ho god in heavens, I think she and Shizuka will create somewhat of a love triangle for Hazuki.

The sooner Yumilia terminates her contract with that American loli scum, the better.
Most likely it’s Shizuka’s mom.
That would be nice but we know Shizuka’s Hazuki’s one true love.

That clone magic seems really useful. With it I could waste time on multiple activities at once!
I’m guessing after the previous Cinderella user vanished, she wandered into the other world and started a family. She could have a daughter Hazuki’s age… and with Hazuki’s name and appearance.
At least we can count on Misa and mom to acknowledge the obvious love developing.
I am finding myself liking Lynne more than in the last episode. I mean, yeah, she’s evil, manipulative, plotting, etc, etc, but I like her smug attitude, and I’d be her friend. Or pawn. Probably the latter.

Welcome to the loli light! Bask int he glow! As things will only get more amazing as this show goes on~

That would be nice.
Most of us suspect that being the previous Master’s identity.
True.
Give her one minute with my mom. Just one minute.

As a loyal friend/pawn, I will have to take steps to prevent her from meeting your mom.

This was that episode where the entire time my heart was twisting and it hurt so very much to watch, but the upward spiral afterwards was more than worth all that~
ALso, the committee is the real evil, I’m calling it now (if I didn’t already remember to call it before).
I also agree that six will be the episode that she transforms…and that is also what my guess was, so yay!
Finally Hazuki has begun the process of stopping her running away, and instead started running towards.
This has gotta be set up for another season…

We knew how it would end but still hurt watching Hazuki and Shizuka struggle.
The only naughty children I tolerate are infants. If the child is old enough to make rational thoughts then I will not tolerate insubordination. None of us in the family household have. Brats be thankful we respect the law…
No surprise there. They’re so shady it’s obvious they’re corrupt.
Good timing too, the halfway point. Hazuki’s ready to step up at last. Should be interesting.
Dunno how well this show is doing financially. Not sure it will get one but we can hope.

Cloning magic, huh? Certainly explains the “gardener” Sugimura we saw in episode 1 and then the director version appearing directly after out of her office. She really was in two places at once!
The previous Cinderella owner is almost 100% certain to be Hazuki’s mom. While the flashback didn’t show her face, it did show her hairstyle, and it matches almost 100% to Hazuki’s mom as shown in her own memory in Ep2. Also, the timelime feels like it fits. Shizuka’s mom she seems unlikely to be, as Shizuka’s mom really feels like she did die during that Fleck rampage. Also, seven years ago was the Fleck rampage, so it feels like it wouldn’t fit with Director Sugimura’s story as well as Hazuki’s mom does. Also, I believe someone would’ve mentioned it if Shizuka’s mom had had Cinderella as an Origin, and Shizuka would’ve likely then have been shocked far more by Hazuki having it. It being transferred from mother to daughter makes far more sense here.
Also, what little we saw of Hazuki’s mom as she knew her sort of does suggest the mindset of a person who once had a dream they were pursuing, but gave up on it, and didn’t want her daughter to do the same. To “find her own story”, as it were, and not give up on it.
Step-family actually being nice and truly helpful, even if they are a bit mistaken about the exact nature of the problem! I approve. Although, I wonder how shocked they’ll be when Hazuki brings Shizuka home eventually maybe and presents her “This is my…girlfriend. The one I sorta told you about.”
With that many references to Cinderella in her own life, I guess we know why Cinderella chose Hazuki, even if her mother gave up said Origin before her.

Also, let’s hope she doesn’t lose her memory along with that fall, like a certain someone…

Very useful magic indeed. Also very blissful for some of us. Older women are the best.
Most of us suspect that to be her identity.
Would be an interesting way to conclude the show: A “Meet the family scenario”.
Oh yes indeed.

While Hazuki’s step sister certainly had that misunderstanding, her step-mom never once specified that. I feel like, from what we’ve seen of her, she’d be the type to respond to Hazuki doing something like that without any real shock/surprise/etc, possibly even a knowing smile.

Hazuki’s step mom and step sister are pretty cool.
And that whole scene with Hazuki runnin back to magic world to be with her girl kinda had me getting misty eyed. So good.

It was heartwarming seeing the family support her. Yes, go get your boo Hazuki!

No mention of “Farewell, my magic. My fantasy world. My first…” <- obviously intended to be “love”?

Cloning magic would be so useful honestly. I could just sleep and let the clones do stuff.
Mai is really cute, hope we see more of her.

Indeed.
I’m sure we will.

Cloning magic is very convenient, indeed.
Hazuki felt very distant from her adoptive family at first, but they knew there was something bothering her and they had her back. With those golden words held close to her heart, Hazuki ran very far with those dainty legs of hers to return to where she is needed!
Two issues arise from this, though. How will Cinderella reach Hazuki with it being sealed and all and will she become a face-plant like a certain Nep? If that happens however, Mai’s there to fix her up.
Cinderella’s former master was a wide-eyed idealist who burned out after all those battles in the Hexennacht, unable to make her dreams a reality. Seeing as Director Sugimura can’t remember her old friend, we may never know what became of her…or will/do we?
I gotta say, Hazuki’s a perfect fit for Cinderella after seeing how this episode played out; the dress, a party to attend (the ball) and Hazuki rushing out of her home without her glass slippers.
On another note, I was thinking that Mai’s Origin was a good fit for her mainly because of the red streak in her hair. Superficial, I know. I looked at pictures of cranes and some species had red crowns like this one: http://www.howardsview.com/SandhillCrane/SandhillCraneFeb12_08_07%20(2).jpg
It was nice of Ms. Sugimura to reveal her true age, but Hazuki’s gonna get a big lecture from her as punishment. I feel sorry for her.
