Citrus Episode 3: Eye of the Lily Storm

I really think the anime is the best thing that could have happened for this series.

Yuzu, having realized her true feelings for Mei-Tron was in shock. Thankfully our savior’s support helped her get back on track. Having a clearer direction in her head Yuzu marched to Principal Grandpa’s office to have a serious talk…only to find him collapsed. Yuzu did her best to help him to the hospital off-screen. Mei-Tron was informed of the emergency and quickly rushed to the hospital. The nurse told her about some funky blonde and all she did to help the old man. Later that night the two had a talk and it looked like Mei-Tron’s humanity took control for a brief moment. Long conversation short the imouto-bot told her human stepsister to call her by her name so they could start over as true sisters…at least that’s how Yuzu interpreted her words. She happily called Mei-Tron by her human name as requested, prompting a reaction from the robot.

Yuzu was so overjoyed by the news that when she told Mama about it she realized…”Oh crap. She said ‘sisters’…not lovers”.

Yuzu and Mei have a talk with Principal Grandpa.

The next day Yuzu hoped to have the talk she wanted the previous day with Principal Grandpa. Luckily for her Gramps was recovering and that near-death experience showed him he needed to lighten up a bit. You know, that subplot about a really angry person’s blood pressure skyrocketing to the point they either collapse or have a stroke and after recovering they realize life’s too important to be angry all the time. That’s what happened. So he reinstated Yuzu and also told his robot granddaughter to make her own choices. Mei-Tron was like “Supreme Patron. This unit is unable to process the command ‘choices’.” Gramps was like “Meiiii.” and she was like “Affirmative…”

Yuzu fixed “Ansoniko” for Mei.

Yuzu wanted to make things right with robo-sis so she pushed her to come back to their place and give Mama a hug. She even helped install an update patch for her kuma software program.

The next day Yuzu hung out with her bestest friend in the whole world gathering extremely valuable data. She asked our savior for more assistance…

Back home Mama had a big surprise for the sisters, a double bed. Yuzu took this gift well…

How glad I am to be a naughty boy.

Yuzu tried her hardest to overcome her hunger for fried robo-sis breasts with a sidedish of mecha-steak but it was too strong. She was allured by the sweet scent of Mei-Tron’s metallic pheromones.

Yuzu took the opportunity to ask why Mei-Tron refused to address her by her name to which the robot responded “Female unit I am inclined to share a room with. Do not get the wrong idea. Our social status has not altered. This unit does not acknowledge you as a valuable asset.” and got her futon.

Yuzu asked why she was being so cold to her to which her half metal sibling responded with an unfair tease and further irked her. With a “Stupid heartless piece of junk” remark Yuzu tried going to sleep.

The next day Yuzu and Harumin were punished for their usual dillydallying by cleaning the bathroom. While doing their routine classroom checks Mei-Tron and and her most devoted cybernetic assistant spotted one table messier than others. It was Yuzu’s. Mei-Tron told her lackey that she would handle it. She then found her “research material”.

Did I tell everyone that Harumin is best girl yet? I did? Well I’m telling you all again. Harumin is best girl.

After a job well done Yuzu and Harumin were about to celebrate when Yuzu noticed a message under her bag to go meet Mei-Tron. In the office Mei-Tron scolded Yuzu for her research. She used the “s” word again. It was at that moment Yuzu’s hunger consumed her.

After getting her fill Yuzu told a surprised Mei-Tron that it’s her fault for being such a fine piece of metal and turning her on so very hard in episode 1. It was her fault for awakening these feelings she never knew she could have for a cyborg woman. She apologized for being a terrible onee-chan and ran off leaving the robot perplexed.

Angry Drill.

I imagine this is the start of the Drill Arc…Alright then. The anime has given this story a breath of fresh air so let’s see how it’ll handle Drill-Sargeant Pecos’ involvement.

If I can be serious for a minute once again. One of the main reasons this anime has so far been something I feel the series desperately needed is not just how great everything looks in motion…but that it did the impossible: It made Mei…human by simply giving her facial expressions. Hardcore Mei supporters and apologists can freely vouch for her but the fact remains that for the longest time in the manga Mei to me has been a block of wood with a brain. A BLOCK OF WOOD WITH A BRAIN I SAY! I was genuinely surprised to see Mei evoke more than two emotions in the anime, something I couldn’t see in her manga counterpart…AT…ALL! Kudos animators.
